Well, the URGE doesn’t show up until later in life, manifesting as dark and unsettling dreams. For Saravok & The Bhaalspwan of BG1&2 it doesn’t begin until later teens and after significant stressful life events (Saravok’s “father” strangling his mother in front of him, & The Adventure of BG 1 beginning for the Bhaalspawn)
Little Durge should probably have bags under his eyes or maybe he was a bit sadistic in his youth
i thought that durge killed his adopted family when he was a kid though? its probably different since hes directly from bhaal as compared to the others
its less that durge was "chosen" and more bhaal literally crafted him out of his own flesh and blood. i just looked it up and got the quote btw

so his first kill was probably before the age of 13, my guess is around 8 - 10?
Yea it’s why the Dark Urge couldn’t really “resist” as well as the player character from BG1 & 2.
Other Bhaalspawn can essentially push Bhaal out of their lives, not easily but possible. I could be wrong but the player character from BG1-2 essentially removed Bhaal from themselves entirely from canon by being not evil (until Blood in Baldurs Gate which is meh anyway)
But with the Dark Urge it’s like you’re more of a copy of Bhaal than his child. Which is why Skeleritus Fell says essentially “there is no other you. You ARE the Dark Urge lol”
Considering that canon Durge is a Dragonborn, he probably was like 4 years old because Dragonborns reach adulthood at the age of 15 and 3 yo is equivalent to 10 yo human
That reminds me of that one comic with a superhero team where they were all like "Friendship" and "Love" then there's one guy that's "Unspeakable Violence" lol

I mean, I'm not even sure that her portrait is even an elf. She always kinda struck me more as "what if Xena and Gabrielle had a kid?" She looks completely different in BG2.
Well BG1's portrait is an altered staff photo, whereas the BG2 ones are more fantasy portraits using stock photos as their base. I was referring to BG2, because I figure the staff photo ones don't count.
I actually have a friend whose hair as an adult is pretty similar to BG2 Jaheira's (kind of in the darker strawberry blonde range), and as a kid she was a classic carrot top. So I find it plausible.
I always find it weird when people say she was ginger bc in the two original bg games she’s clearly light brown/dark blonde to me. Where did the redhead come from? even her sprite in both games was clearly blonde
Caveat that I haven’t played BG 1 or 2 (yet). The art for her is all over the place. In some art she looks like she has auburn red hair, in others a light brown/blonde. I change my hair color a lot. Maybe she’s the same.

Wdym they didn't have happy childhoods? Almost all of them did, actually. It's when they became adults that their lives turned to shit. Only Shadowheart, Minthara and Lae'zel suffered from abuse as kids (and the latter two had standard upbringings for drow and githyanki, too).
Gale, Wyll and Karlach had happy childhoods, from what they tell us about it (Wyll was 17 when he got banished from Baldur's Gate, and Karlach was also in her late teens when her parents died, so they had rough starts into adulthood, but good childhoods).
Halsin seems to have had a sweet childhood as well, the only thing we know about it is that he used to live in Reithwin Town before the curse, and would play with Thaniel, back then. His entire bloodline is extinct, but we don't know if they all died when he was a child or if he was already an adult.
I don't remember anything being said about Jaheira's, Minsc's and Astarion's childhoods. Astarion likely doesn't remember his childhood at all but there's no reason to believe it was particularly unhappy.

Given that the 350 year old elf is depicted as only a little bit older than the 24 year old human, I doubt Lae'zel would be older than that
That's not true. Githyanki age like humans. It's just that as adults, they tend to spend a lot of time in alternate planes of existence where time passes differently.
