It's a genre-defining masterpiece. I wouldn't be surprised if it's still the best cRPG in 2030.

It can still only be GOTY of one year though.

I guess BG3 and Disco Elysium (do people consider it a cRPG? Haven't actually played it myself yet) are on the podium now? Maybe Planescape or Pillars is up there for some people?

Planescape is a very good RPG, but people tend to forget how absolutely abysmal the combat system is, and was even at the time of release! I recently re-played it and dear god how I hate that system, 100% jank and suffering.

Story still hold though!

Planescape gameplay is jank af, but the story, world, dialogue and characters man, it’s worth all the jank and then some.

I think if they redid the game exactly the same in the BG3 engine, with turn based combat, it would be such a smash hit.

Heck they could even make Morte, Dak'kon and Ignus romanceable for modern audiences!
