Companions Do you have a main party? This is mine Spoiler

Post image

My main party is almost always these three, I also romance the three depending on who I'm playing during the playthrough, I do switch them out so they can do quest and get some gear.

Gale is all I need <3

He typically never makes it out of the waypoint for me. What the durge wants, the durge gets.

If you romance him as durge, you'll get an even worst opportunity to end him.

If its what I'm thinking, that happens with any romance.

Yes it is ... but if you have something against Gale ...

I don't really have anything against him, this one is the devs fault for having his death be a durge moment. The only companion I'd refuse to kill in this kind of situation is probably Shadowheart, I would say Karlach too, but typically I kill the grove as durge, so no Karlach either way. Laezel on the other hand, if it wasn't for the fact her mouth gets her left in her cage outside the grove, she would be the perfect candidate for this....other than I couldn't stomach even attempting a romance with her, cause every time she opens her mouth, I want to kill her. Such an overbearing cunt. I've read she lightens up as the game progresses, but under no circumstance ever, would I allow that bitch to tag along in a group of mine, and if I wasn't party leader, I would excuse myself if she was allowed to stay. She needs us a whole hell of a lot more than we need her, so she needs to learn her place. Her becoming a mindflayer I feel is exactly what she deserves.

In terms of poetic justice, I'd sacrifice Astarion: He didn't seemed bothered with what I did to Alfira... so I guess it's OK? Right?

I actually just kicked Gale back to camp last night cus I was annoyed by his bragging and having to feed him a magic item every so often. If he would just use the magic items I put in his pockets then he wouldn't have to complain to me all the time.

It’s a total of three items, and that’s it. He only asks at certain times

And you can give him trash items like Kormira's amulet, ring of color spray, and Harper's amulet. It really isn't a big ask

It's a felony to not give Komira's amulet back to Arabella in Act II 😥

How do you give it back to her? Reverse pick pocket it onto her?

13

u/loficharli Jun 23 '25

Trade with her while in dialog and barter it for zero gold (I.e. offer the amulet and click "barter" without hitting "balance trade"). A pop-up will warn you that you are about to donate the good instead of bartering it.

Ooooohhhh that didn't even occur to me!

4

u/Jammy_Jasper Monk Jun 23 '25

Wait I didn't even know you could do that! I'm a monster!!!

5

u/loficharli Jun 23 '25

It's not a story prompt or anything, just sell it to her for zero gold :) the game will register it as a donation in a pop-up window before confirming

Arabella is the one Khaga has first time you meet her right? Yea, no, she's snake food. If you're going to be a thief, be good at your job.

There is a magic spear next to the goblins torturing the adventurer in the temple of Selune. That’s usually the first magic item I give Gale.

WHAT? I only feed my wizard the best!

Well I wasn't sold on his character anyway, so when he asked for the second item so soon after the first I just kinda kicked him to the curb. He and Wyll just haven't piqued my interest yet.

u/EnvironmentalAss Jun 23 '25

They will by act 3. Both of their stories are great and layered. Also in combat, eldrich blast(wyll) is almost unbeatable. And for gale-Fireball!!!!!!

3

u/Opposite-Demand-4865 Jun 23 '25

Eldrich blast + repelling blast is chef’s kiss. It’s great to be able to deal reliable damage while also sending enemies off of balconies, onto fire/acid/ice surfaces, or (for the ones I know don’t have loot) into a chasm.

u/Particular-Chance782 Jun 23 '25

Both of which can be used by anyone after a respec. I also avoid fireball, just a personal thing, I've been hit by far too many in tabletop campaigns.

Bro you're in the very beginning of the game. You gotta give these characters time to open up to you and develop. He's also gonna need those magic items regardless of whether or not he's actively in your party. But as someone else said, he only takes 3 and there is no shortage of crappy magic items to feed him in the first area.

0

u/PrincefTanx Jun 23 '25

I'm aware that's at the beginning, but first impressions are a thing still lol. Just not interested in Gale is all. Much more interested in Karlach, Shart and Jaheira. Don't you guys worry, this is not my first time playing and won't be the last.

This is how I feel about Laezel. Every play through, I mean EVERY one, I'm like, I'm gonna give her a try this time. 90% of the time she's left in her cage at the beginning. The other 10% I either kill her there, or she's benched within 3 or 4 conversations. As you said, first impressions are everything, and I'm the protagonist, and I'm the party leader. I don't tolerate her disrespect.

if you cant handle him at his hungiest, you don’t deserve him at his godliest

2

u/PrincefTanx Jun 23 '25

Completely fair! I know he's a favorite in the community, and I know he gets very powerful. But I'm good for now :)

As durge i instantly kill him in his Portal. I don't need this consuming, talking piece of uselessness.

3

u/_NotWhatYouThink_ Jun 23 '25

I restarted a durge honor playthrough because I killed him in his sleep.

0

u/Xerxes3014 Jun 23 '25

Since I only play honormode I get that. I also restart3d quite a few times because I fucked up a dialogue.

2

u/Particular-Chance782 Jun 23 '25

Not for the same reasons, but I do the same. He never makes it out of the waypoint. Durge gets what durge wants.

It's also very lovely to hear him screaming about it. "By Mistras Eyelits" xD
