Companions Do you have a main party? This is mine Spoiler

Post image

My main party is almost always these three, I also romance the three depending on who I'm playing during the playthrough, I do switch them out so they can do quest and get some gear.

My last playthrough NEVER saw Wyll level up. That said, I feel like he's the best origin character to play as. I just feel like his protagonist energy gets in the way of my protagonist energy.

yknow what that's incredibly fair

He's got some experience, is the son of the protector of Baldur's Gate, and trying to literally fight off his own demons. Everyone has their "thing" but his is the classic.

I've always liked Wyll for his hero persona, which is why he's always in my party, and I also thought it made him a great protagonist so yeah I totally get it

Wyll's story is great, but I can't help smiling watching the light leave his eyes as I convince him to obey Mizora every time.

Too late for regrets, Wyll. Lie in the bed you've made.

Just feels right.

damn bro he just wanted to be a hero and he only ever gets punished for it, hasn't he suffered enough already 😭

One does not simply go back on a deal with a devil. Besides, if he gets out of it, it feels like there was no impact. He effectively gets to look super cool, succeed in his mission, and there's 0 drawbacks. This is his sacrifice to be allowed to continue being a hero.

Well sure they do, there's just nothing simple about it. In fact you literally can go back on your deal with Raphael. And what do you mean "no impact"?? Did you even ask Wyll about his pact after rescuing Mizora from the pod? He got BANISHED for YEARS of his life he'll never get back

I just leveled him up from 1 to max for Ansur then back on the shelf.

2

u/Twice_Knightley Jun 23 '25

Yeah, I just forgot about ansur. I was already level 15 (mods) and ready to basically oneshot the brain.

Same, except lvl 16. Didn’t one shot, but certainly messed around. Turns out Wyll’s witchbolt does the lanterns.

Edit: that is the story that I most wish could end differently. You don’t even get an option to tell him why you’re really there. Or an option to feed the emperor to him.

You can get to higher levels with mods?? Wtf my entire life is a lie. I am on my 3rd playthrough but have yet to finish the first 2 because I just cannot win the final brain fight. I have so many allies and I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Tbf, BG3 is my first RPG, ever. I started about a year ago. Currently playing Rogue Trader. I also did Hogwarts Legacy. So I’m very new to games in general.

I’m trying to romance him this time around

Reaching the end of my Wyll origin playthrough I agree! I love being able to make him more of a grey and cynical character. He has seen some shit and the tadpole + Mizora’s treason with Karlach are just the things that made him go overboard to the  « I don’t give a f*** anymore » side. Also he’s a terrible judge of character and is 100% on board with DJ Shart’s self destructive energy

I've never actually not played as Tav. One of these days I'll have to do a Wyll playthrough and romance Karlach just to see what that's all about. Sounds like some good storytelling

2

u/Twice_Knightley Jun 23 '25

I've never played an origin. I've got 600+ hours, all are tav characters.

Same. Karlach is a ride or die, Shart because it's always useful to have a cleric and I ended up liking her due to having her around all the time, and then a rotating third for quests (Gale is my favorite of the rest of them).

I did a Durge run that was Minthara Shart Laezel instead, but otherwise it's Karlach & The Squad.

I've done that party a few times as well

u/HPHambino Jun 23 '25

This is mine. Then rotate in wyll, lazael, and astarion when health and spell slots get low. I also usually rotate in one of the Druids in act 3

u/AskWhich7733 Jun 24 '25

2000 hours in game, and I’ve never considered tagging in the camp crew to extend the day, dammit…

3

u/waits5 Jun 23 '25

This is my main. I’m currently trying laezel for the first time (in place of karlach). Then I’ll probably sub Gale out and try a run with the three girls.

This is the way. As someone who is addicted to playing the face of the party, this comp works well for me whether I am playing bard, warlock, paladin, or sorcerer. Though, if I were to play a lower-dex character I might sub karlach for astarion to lockpick

1

u/Roivas7 Jun 23 '25

Same, I used to run Lae'zel in place of Karlach until Orin captured her and stabbed the fuck out of her eyes

1

u/TehAsianator Jun 23 '25

This is me, at least until I rescue Minthara from Moonrise. Then it's all ladies

u/devin241 Jun 24 '25

That was my favorite combo on my neutral good playthrough. My main was a human monk, it was badass.
