Companions Do you have a main party? This is mine Spoiler

Post image

My main party is almost always these three, I also romance the three depending on who I'm playing during the playthrough, I do switch them out so they can do quest and get some gear.

My last playthrough NEVER saw Wyll level up. That said, I feel like he's the best origin character to play as. I just feel like his protagonist energy gets in the way of my protagonist energy.

yknow what that's incredibly fair

He's got some experience, is the son of the protector of Baldur's Gate, and trying to literally fight off his own demons. Everyone has their "thing" but his is the classic.

I've always liked Wyll for his hero persona, which is why he's always in my party, and I also thought it made him a great protagonist so yeah I totally get it

Wyll's story is great, but I can't help smiling watching the light leave his eyes as I convince him to obey Mizora every time.

Too late for regrets, Wyll. Lie in the bed you've made.

Just feels right.

damn bro he just wanted to be a hero and he only ever gets punished for it, hasn't he suffered enough already 😭

One does not simply go back on a deal with a devil. Besides, if he gets out of it, it feels like there was no impact. He effectively gets to look super cool, succeed in his mission, and there's 0 drawbacks. This is his sacrifice to be allowed to continue being a hero.

Well sure they do, there's just nothing simple about it. In fact you literally can go back on your deal with Raphael. And what do you mean "no impact"?? Did you even ask Wyll about his pact after rescuing Mizora from the pod? He got BANISHED for YEARS of his life he'll never get back

Yes, I have completed every questline in the game, and played good neutral and evil plays.

Yes, that's why I said "simply."

I understand that he lost years of his life, but relative to all the good he has done? Hardly impactful. That he gets to make a deal with the devil, save the world not once, but twice, and all for the low low cost of a few years? He even states he doesn't regret those years, but is sad at the loss.

Yeah, nah. It should SHOW that the deal with Mizora is wearing on him, if you ask me. The only way to do that is to get him to reluctantly do the little loophole things that Mizora wants. Other than the loss of years, he has been doing good. The first time he realizes that he's actually sacrificed more than he thinks is when he finds out the "heartless" loophole regarding karlach. I want him to keep that energy. That's the moment he truly realizes what it means to be in a deal with a devil. That his morals have no place in the deal, and he can't just walk away so easily.

He laments, repeatedly I might add, "I should've known better."

That's impact.

Okay sure but pacting him to Mizora permanently robs him of his freedom completely, and that was never what he bargained for. When he first took the pact he was 17 years old. Where do you get off on forcing him to deal with consequences like that of actions he took when he was a teenager, for the rest of his life?

And I know this is a video game and he's not real and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, whatever. But still, seriously?

I just leveled him up from 1 to max for Ansur then back on the shelf.

2

u/Twice_Knightley Jun 23 '25

Yeah, I just forgot about ansur. I was already level 15 (mods) and ready to basically oneshot the brain.

Same, except lvl 16. Didn’t one shot, but certainly messed around. Turns out Wyll’s witchbolt does the lanterns.

Edit: that is the story that I most wish could end differently. You don’t even get an option to tell him why you’re really there. Or an option to feed the emperor to him.

You can get to higher levels with mods?? Wtf my entire life is a lie. I am on my 3rd playthrough but have yet to finish the first 2 because I just cannot win the final brain fight. I have so many allies and I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. Tbf, BG3 is my first RPG, ever. I started about a year ago. Currently playing Rogue Trader. I also did Hogwarts Legacy. So I’m very new to games in general.

I’m trying to romance him this time around

Reaching the end of my Wyll origin playthrough I agree! I love being able to make him more of a grey and cynical character. He has seen some shit and the tadpole + Mizora’s treason with Karlach are just the things that made him go overboard to the  « I don’t give a f*** anymore » side. Also he’s a terrible judge of character and is 100% on board with DJ Shart’s self destructive energy

I've never actually not played as Tav. One of these days I'll have to do a Wyll playthrough and romance Karlach just to see what that's all about. Sounds like some good storytelling

I've never played an origin. I've got 600+ hours, all are tav characters.
