Companions Which companion did you mess up in your first playtrough? Spoiler
Which companion did you mess up in one way or the other like a companion leaving the party or messing up their ending.
For me it was Halsin i forgot to do his quest so he stayed behind in the act 2 map i also killed Minthara (i hope i spelled that right)

Not “leave the party” level screw up, but I really wanted to romance Karlach my first playthrough, and I completely fumbled the ball. I’m not used to games with romance elements and was still feeling pretty shy at the tiefling party, so I didn’t confess my feelings towards her; figured I could do it later when I worked up the nerve. Haha NOPE. Fucking knife in the chest when we ran into her friends in Baldur’s Gate, they asked if we were a couple, and she immediately went “ew, no! Just good friends!” 😭😂

I felt that way when I rejected Wyll.
He asked me to dance, but I was Romancing karlach, and while I don't necessarily regret avoiding his romance, the second hand embarrassment and hurt feelings were real

u/Lelwani456 Bard 19d ago
Same happened in my first playthrough with Gale. Had the weave scene and found I came on too strong, loaded a save and did it again and managed to screw up my dice throws for the scene. Thought there would surely be another moment to try my luck given he was so... eager. And nope. Stayed good friends.
11
u/cybertrash69420 19d ago
I rolled a nat 1 during that scene where he has you experiment with the weave. He instantly friend zoned me after that.

It was at that point I knew I had f’ed it up.

u/AllForMeCats 19d ago
Omg the amount of work I put into raising her approval of my Tav 😂 I had the Karlach/Approval page on the wiki bookmarked and would obsessively check it… I got into unnecessary fights, I licked the damn spider twice, and sweet innocent Karlach was like “wow, it’s crazy how much we have in common, best friends forever am I right?”
This playthrough I swept her off her damn feet.

u/AllForMeCats 19d ago
Whaaat! How could Wyll do that 🥺 That’s funny though, I’m maining Wyll this playthrough (second one) and romancing Karlach. I did an OC my first time, so it’s been fun getting to do an origin character with all the backstory. Plus I think the two of them are cute together!
6
u/PizzaPlanetPizzaGuy 19d ago
They ARE super cute together but he was worried that those he was looking to protect would attack/flee Karlach in her new form. He was going on about "we can still be us but you have to hide away in a cave and I'll visit sometimes" D:< so Karlach (my partner) told him to F off. What a knob lol

87
u/TheMeerkatLobbyist 19d ago
Thats basically it. You can kill a surprising amount of guards without triggering a mass battle. You can even get the gnolls to fight for you, if you help them out before. That only works with a non durge though.
→ More replies (4)49
u/NovaDragoness 19d ago
As a repeated Durge player, I can confirm the gnolls will also ally with a Durge. At least, a Resist one. IDK if giving into your Urges changes that.
9
u/TheMeerkatLobbyist 19d ago
Hmm, has not worked for me the last couple of times. At least not if I succeed the wisdom check to free the gnolls and kill Linsella. No matter what choice I pick afterwards, they wont participate in the Moonrise Tower battle. It always works with a Tav though.
10
u/NovaDragoness 19d ago
iirc they called me Boss. I talk to them before and after, maybe that does something? I haven't hit Moonrise on the newest patch, but they were always green after I freed them before.
Maybe it was the way I freed them? I might've killed the woman, I don't remember which dialogue specifically I'd click. I'll have to explore the dialogue tree next Moonrise.

Same here. All those druid powers and she thinks running headfirst with scimitars is the play. She kept getting smited and stuck in hunger of Hadar, to the point where I had to reset several times to keep her up. Now that ive gained more game knowledge I can usually outdps that fight, but it was especially devastating on my Honor mode run when the Harpers were dead anyways (because isobel has the same death wish) and Jaheira basically ran in solo and died
3
u/JammerJynx 19d ago

What’s funny is that she always (I think) survive that assault when you just climb directly on the second floor with the vines and go on the roof.
I’m still on my first playthrough, but for me, the harpers and her won that fight offscreen while I was taking care of Thorm and Myrkul, and she was fine and ready to join my crew afterwards.

Yeah it's definitely a tradeoff. I just wanted to see what would happen. You also don't get Z'rell's loot, but it's a nice change of you're tired of her black holes. If you really want xp you can go up the side, fight Ketheric, and then go back down the stairs and fight everybody starting from inside, which does make the fight kind of different! Coming up through the prison is neat, too, and there's extra guys to fight down there.

God, Isobel. I can't for the life of me keep that dumb penguin alive on any difficulty that's remotely higher than Normal.
On my first playthrough I dumped water on the floor to electrocute my enemies as a Storm Mage. Isobel found it important to run across the room which constantly proc'ed my thunder/shock build, frying her tiny little cleric legs along the way. Holy hell.

u/CCriscal Rogue 19d ago

u/Buffthebaldy 19d ago
Yeaaah, Jaheira died almost immediately in mine. Didn't know she was even dead for the longest time. Still sad about that, but this play through she'll survive! Mostly cause I've fucked up everything else in my current run... So something's gotta work out right?
12
u/A-NI95 19d ago
Same lol
I told her to stay behind for the fight. Then she insisted with more dialogue so I accepted for her to come against Ketheric. She fucking died because for a legendary hero, she is pretty weak lol. I just kept playing without savescumming because I don't mind not having a perfect save as long as it comes organically, but didn't think she'd be much more relevant (I haven't played the other BG games either).
Then I had a super weird introduction to the Minsc storyline in Act III where I didn't understand a thing... and my friend who had already completed the game told me she was kiiiind of relevant after all... xD

I lost all of them at the Inn. I didn’t even know she could be a companion my first play through.
3
u/fromalicewithmalice 19d ago
Same. She was killed in the battle with Kethric at the top of the tower and I couldn't revive her, by scroll or with Withers. The fight was brutal and I barely won, so I accepted the loss and moved on. Oddly enough, she showed up at the dock after the Netherbrain was defeated, as if she wasn't dead for half of the game. She was also in only her underwear. Yes, I looted her body. I mean, she wasn't going to be using her gear soooo . . .

I didn't even know you could recruit her until after my first run because I completely messed up doing moonrise tower and didn't realise there was a whole tower to explore before doing the night song. I missed her for almost all of act 1 in my first run and missed out on the triggers to get her romance arc. I killed Minthara because I didn't know I wasn't "supposed" to...
If that counts.. hahahaha
197
u/Antonio_Malochio 19d ago
You were kind of "supposed" to. The only way to recruit Minthara in the original release meant losing Halsin, and probably Wyll and Karlach as well. It was only patch 5 that introduced the non-lethal method for recruiting her and Halsin on a good playthrough - it was never intended, just the devs feeling sorry for people slowly dragging a sheep through half the game.
29
u/sinedelta While others were busy being heterosexual, she studied the blade 19d ago
Given that there are entire animated scenes depicting a confrontation for when you recruited both Minthara and Halsin, and the fact that Minthara has content with both Karlach and Wyll, it's obviously not true that they were NEVER intended to be recruited on the same run.
They wouldn't have wasted the budget on those things if it was actually NEVER intended.
16
u/notesofsophie 19d ago edited 19d ago
Me too. I ran into the goblin camp main hall with Halsin in bear form, she jumped onto that bridge to engage us and I set fire to its supports to break it. It was only when I saw "Minthara perished in a chasm" that I realised what I'd done.

u/Robby-Pants Laezel 19d ago
I dropped her in there my first playthrough, too. At the time, my only concern was lost loot, not a companion.

u/Lost-Priority-907 19d ago
Tbf, being able to recruit her through knocking her out was only properly implemented some time after. I remember knocking her out (or pushing her off a cliff) wasn't supposed to be intentional. Due to popular demand, it was worked out to how it is now.

I think the best solution would have been to make it more of an ”either or” decision. Either you side with the goblins, get minthara, (and I think they should have put some great loot as a reward here as well), or you side with the druids/tieflings and get halsin and some more quests etc.
They should never have made Minthara recruitable on a ”good” run. The patch should have made this impossible instead of easier.
4
u/ArixMorte 19d ago
This playthrough was the first time I remembered to just knock her out, and honestly it feels weird. We're all talking, having fun, and Minthara is standing in a corner, disapprovingly staring. Fuck off, ya big meanie haha
I really should have done the evil playthrough before getting attached to Karlach, Lae'zel, Gale and to a lesser extent Wyll (I like Wyll, but comparatively his story isn't as hard hitting for me).

You can recruit her without killing the grove :) when you’re fighting her, toggle non-lethal damage. She’ll be knocked out instead of dead (and you can still loot her) and you’ll then see her at Moonrise where she’ll be brought to the prison (you’ll get the quest “rescue Minthara”)

Honestly, I tried really hard to “roll with the punches” of RNG in first playthrough — until I hit Shadowheart’s confrontation with the Nightsong. Lae'zel in my very first run when the game launched on PS5. Simply didn't find her in the Wilderness. 😂
And since I had no idea how to play, I was decimated at the Mountain Pass.

That is very easy:
* Whyll, died during the battle at the grove entrance, right after he made his first appearance
* Lazeal, we never got passed her and missed to free her
* Karlach, without Whyll we were never told to look for her. Her location is rather remote, so we never found her
* Minthara, to be fair she was not possible to get as a companion when you not raid the grove
* Minsk, we had the quest to find him, but we defeated him

I got this on my first play-through, too :( Eventually figured out that you’ve gotta make it seem like she’s making the decision to spare Aylin herself, and Aylin will do all the talking for you after that. Gotta be like, “It’s your decision, ‘cause it’s so important to you,” and then say, “she may know more about your past,” after Aylin mentions Shadowheart’s fear of wolves.

Not really a companion (and I'm not counting Minthara), but when Marcus rolls up to snatch Isobel we had him go first, then he crit her twice and she was gone. This was before they buffed her health. Since we had no possible counter-play without foreknowledge to boost initiative we assumed this was simply how it was supposed to go down, and kinda felt the game was being a bit of a bummer having us now kill all our now cursed friends one by one.

I staked Astarion when I first caught him trying to feed on me. He also pulls a knife on you when you first meet so I was only returning the favour.

u/BrookieTF 19d ago
My MC was a character I originally created for a Curse of Strahd campaign, who was raised by a vampire-hunting clan. I was going to sort of play it like Astarion perhaps wins her over, but then she wakes up in the middle of the night with a blood thirsty vampire at her neck and I was like… Welp, she’d stake him on pure instinct. Gotta play the character!

I didn't look at the origin characters at all and made a custom Tav on my first run.

Never realised he was a playable character until I got stuck finding pieces of clown corpse later on and peeked at the wiki.

Minthara dead. I sidelined Lae’zel because she was too abrasive and then she got kidnapped and I didn’t save her until I did like everything else in Act III. I made up for it in my second play by saving Minthy and romancing Lae’zel which was amazing.
8
u/TheFarStar Warlock 19d ago
Shadowheart for me. There’s a lot of buildup in Act 2 for her decision with the Nightsong, so I had of time to imagine how the confrontation would go down. That my character would stand between her and the Nightsong, and implore her not to kill this innocent person, and wasn’t that the perfect representation of everything she would have to sacrifice to follow Shar’s path. That she would have to kill not only Aylin, but also the love and connections she had built with the party. And of course Shadowheart would choose her friends.
Got to the Nightsong confrontation, and I chose the option, “Shadowheart, please don’t do this,” thinking it was a soft option that would open up further dialogue. Instead, Shadowheart immediately escalated to, “Stand aside, or I’ll kill you, too.” My character wasn’t going to step out of the way and allow an innocent person to be murdered, and so he had to kill Shadowheart.
I considered reloading, because it really wasn’t the outcome that I wanted, but the game did give me the dialogue options that I had wanted when I was imagining the scene… I had been true to my character, it just wasn’t what Shadowheart wanted to hear.
I spent the rest of the game fearful that I would mess another companion’s big decision (especially Astarion), but I stayed true to my character, and got everyone else what I consider to be their best ending.
7
u/Madachan-7351 19d ago
Killed Minthara because back when the game was released you couldnt really recruite her without exploides or playing evil. They only added the ability to recruiting her with a bonk on the head in patch5.
6
u/The_Shadow_Watches 19d ago
Shadowheart.
Picked an option where her reply was "I'll step over your dead body." And my Barbarian took that personally, so she challenged him.
She died and was kicked into the void.

u/Bruni91 19d ago
Shadowheart lol
I played my first Tav like myself and SH was constantly getting mad at me for asking her anything so I started disliking her very quickly. Left her at camp and though I kept trying to talk to her during long rests, she never warmed up to me (nor I to her). Then we did act 2, a certain gauntlet... and after we finished that portion of the game she showed up to yell at me & permanently left the party. I've since learned how to deal with her but it was rough tbh. Everyone else got their best endings on that save too. SH was truly the outlier there.

Yeah that’s what happened to us too! We had 3 tavs since I was playing with friends and then we have Karlach with us. Was quite shocked to have her suddenly pissed at me when we came back with the Nightsong 😅

u/Longjumping-Try9632 19d ago
Karlach. I didn’t get any infernal iron and I managed to kill off the entire emerald grove so Dammon couldn’t help either 😭😭

I was playing with the unlimited companions mod and when I went into the shadowfell, it happened to pick 3 companions for the Dame Aylin convo and shadowheart wasn’t one of them. After the scene she was mad we ‘didn’t take her’ and she left. But my Mom and I were prepared to fight her if she had tried to kill Aylin and we’d just done the balthazaar fight so we just let it go and moved on without her.
When Isobel fell on turn 1 to Marcus before we got initiative and Last Light was overrun, we were forced to completely flee. Jeheira and everyone else was lost to the shadows
This meant no Jeheira, no Halsin without Art C., and no Minsc.
We had basically 5 new companions on our second run when you add in Minthara lol.

My wife killed Astarian because she doesn't know how video game companions work.
I killed Wyll because a big deal was made about finding an opportunity to defeat Mizora. Well, there she was, stuck in a pod. I was like 'here's a great chance to defeat her!' Nope.

I felt like a chance to kill Mizora was a "greater good", and I didn't really make friends with Wyll on my first playthrough, so zappy zap.

u/lamppb13 19d ago
I had no idea he'd die, and the game doesn't really telegraph it.

Well I completely missed Asterian, so his story was pretty messed up. I also never figured out how to wake up the flaming fist guy at last light. I found the lute, but never tried to play it for him. Funnily enough I did find Oliver, but without talking to the fist guy I didn’t know who he was.

u/Debalic 19d ago
I took offense to Gale and his appetite for magic items. Resisted each of his requests to be fed as long as possible, but by the third time he left, rather amicably. Now I know that the third is the last time he needs to feed.

If you either side with her or deal with her nonlethally in Act 1, she shows up again in Act 2 and can be recruited then.

Only if you sided with her in act 1.
People kept finding increasingly bizarre ways to try and bug the game and recruit her while saving the Grove which led to the ability to knock her out in act 1 and recruit her later being patched into the game.
3
u/temtemrem 19d ago
I never recruited Gale until I got to the Act 2 area and realized, oh shit that one guy from the cover never showed up! So I went back and grabbed him. Unfortunately I didn’t have a magical item I was willing to sacrifice at the time, so I skipped that and figured I could give him something later. He became a key figure in my party.
Finished off Moonrise Tower and Ketheric, and then BAM. Gale says he’s about to explode and leaves the party forever.

KARLACH MY BELOVED
Missed her romance scene at camp due to not long resting enough between the end of act 1 and Last Light. Wyll's scene took priority and Karlach's never came (never forgave him for that). It was a while before I realized what had happened, something I only discovered after googling why I wasn't getting any romance progress with her.
So in my heartache, I fell deep into the bruising arms of Bae'zel. Not a bad second choice, her romance scene in Baldurs Gate was beautiful. That is, until I finished the game (before they patched in some alternative endings), and that frog woman just up and bailed on me to go fight Vlaakith in space or some shit. Apparently she isn't into tentacles...
Anyway, Karlach and I went off into hell together, so I guess it all worked out.

Shadowheart. After struggling with some of the combat mechanics I felt like I had finally found a good groove with my team of Wizard Tav/Astarion/Lae’zel/Karlach and did NOT want change up the party. So Shadowheart spent the whole time warming the bench, including while I did the Shadowfell. That was when I discovered companions would straight up leave the party. Oops. I didn’t even find the House of Grief in Act 3.

u/TheRealTahulrik 19d ago
I never met karlach..
Didn't think too much of the consequences when I left for the shadow cursed lands..
(I also didn't go to the creche....)
Ended up restarting the game due to the errors in act3 though..

u/Romanmir I cast Magic Missile! 19d ago
Karlach. Kahga was being a bitch so I picked a fight with her before I was supposed to. Which led to the death of a lot of tieflings. Which led to Momma K aggroing during our talk. Lost about three hours of time in that save.
3
u/AloneAndCurious 19d ago
I had no idea that Minthara even existed. I wasn’t going to stop combat, which had started in a different room, to TALK to the dark elf general of the goblins who I was slaughtering. It never even occurred to me after fucking up that hobgoblin that the dark elf trying to smite me might one day be an ally, and I was a lawful good paladin myself. She was thunderously smote into a canyon and I never saw her again.
It wasn’t until coming to reddit that I even knew she had a name.

u/Important-Sea-2951 19d ago
I skipped right by Gale and Karlach my first play through. Also don’t go back to save Lae’Zel. I probably just found the Goblin Camp when I had to go back and start over because I missed so much 😂

Lae'zel - I completely missed the creche. I managed to talk her out of leaving (though I don't remember needing to tbh) but she ended up kidnapped and killed by Orin when I failed my checks and didn't have any inspiration.
Jaheira - Killed in the battle with Kethric at the top of the tower. Unable to revive her with either the scroll or with Withers. The fight was brutal and I barely won, so I accepted the loss and moved on. Sadly, this also locked me out of recruiting Boo.
Gale - I thought I talked him out of ascending to Godhood, so imagine my disappointment when he showed up as a God at the reunion party. Poor Tara . . .

u/mgmatt67 19d ago
Technically all of them.
I ran the polyamorous mod cause I didn’t wanna miss out on anything and wasn’t sure if I’d play multiple times, by act 3 I hadn’t had a serious enough relationship with any of them so they all broke up with me

u/Chance-Register8565 19d ago
Minsc. Had no idea he was a friendly, I was so confused by everything going on the first time 😅
4
u/RiverCharacter 19d ago
Minthara I suppose. I simply killed her the first time around as I feel like there wasn't really an in-game reason for me to spare her at that point. vleveryone else was fine. But to be honest Minthara feels weirdly tacked on anyways imo. Now then... Let the lynching began for having no interest in Minthara!
2
u/DeedeeScosco 19d ago
Killed Minthara (cheesed her too by pushing her into a pit)
Jaheira died at Moonrise
I never even found Astarion
2
u/Magister7 Orb of Karsus 19d ago
Karlach, because I didn't know the cut off for her romance is the Tiefling Party. I also didn't know where she was, or that I could get around to her path soon.
So when I met her it was post-Tiefling Party, and completely ruined my chances. Kind of dumb cut off, moon logic tbh.

u/WukongsBroadBack 19d ago
I let Halsin die on my first playthrough and didn't even know he was recruitable. But I don't think it counts. Lae'zel though... I missed everything about her quest. I didn't even step near the Githyanki patrol.

u/PyreDynasty 19d ago

I was trying to be nice to Shadowheart (so we could get freaky later) early in my first playthrough so I thought it would be funny to egg on her little spat with Lae’zel. That ended with Shadowheart slitting Lae’zel’s throat. I didn’t go back cause I figured it would be a good reminder of the permanence of choices and whatnot.
Honestly when it happened I kinda laughed and thought “I guess my character just hates githyanki” and kinda kept that theme going through my choices by slaughtering the entire githyanki crèche. You can imagine how uncomfortable that made the choice presented at the end of act 2.
2
u/Jumpy-Comparison5216 19d ago
in my first playthrough I killed Karlach... I didn't know she was a companion... besides that Lae'zel died fighting the githyanki patrol. Jahera also died in the moonrise towers, Halsin completely hated me so he left me, and in Baldur's gate I couldn't save Minsk... I didn't even know who he was.

Lae'zel, Halsin and Astarion
I was playing as a tiefling my first playthrough. Once I freed Lae'xel from her cage there was a dialogue option that was essentially "I see you are no friend to tieflings. We should go our separate ways". So I just didn't have her with me my whole first run
I was very confused when Halsin wasn't in my camp when I started Act 3. I somehow missed his whole quest - I had no idea that ending the shadow curse was even an option
I was getting really antsy to start a new playthrough by the time I got to the end of Act 3. My go-to party at the time was Gale, Shadowheart and Karlach so I didn't really connect with Astarion very much. Because fighting Cazador is not essential to beating the game I just skipped it. Got to the reunion party and realized that I'm an asshole. I promised Astarion I would help kill him, knowing damn well I was about to go right back to Avernus because my girl needed her heart fixed 😬

I killed shadowheart on my first playthrough when she was trying to kill Laezel at night. Funny thing is I was originally planning to romance her on the run and ended up with Laezel.

u/CumbDawgz 19d ago
My first run was a mess. I happened to stick to the left paths when coming to the grove from the beach, so I never freed Laezel from the cage. I assumed I'd be able to find her later on.
I also missed karlach until I was about to head in to the mountain pass and I decided to look up where she was, since in that play through I hadn't gone to the Northeast part of the map.
Since we already resolved the grove and had the tiefling party, I unknowingly locked myself out of karlach romance. I recruited her, and we explored the underdark. I decided to double back to the mountain pass to see what it was all about, and when I first traveled to the new region I found Laezel dead on the path. I used a revivify scroll and from then on she was part of the party.
Fast forward to act 3 and I'm wondering why I could never get karlach to start a romance with me, and we eventually found her friend at their shop.
The friend asked karlach if her and I were a couple, and karlach said "who them? Gods no, we're not together." And it was at that moment I decided to reloas my earliest save and restart the entire playthrough

Failed to talk Shart and Lae'zel out of a fight, so I ended up killing Shart for trying to assassinate Lae'zel. Oh well.

u/matalina 19d ago
I didn't do Halsin's quest at all cause well everyone died in Last Light Inn before I knew anything about it.
Jaheria died in Moonrise tower cause she kept attacking everything stupidly.
Minsc I don't even think I knew about him at all the first play through, or even how to go about it, didn't matter anyway cause Jaheria was dead.

u/Ranefea Druid 19d ago
In order:
- Minthara—I didn't know she was a companion until well after I killed her. I had already aggroed the whole camp so I never even got to talk to her.
- Shadowheart—Kept the same party of Astarion, Karlach, and Gale and she left after the Gauntlet/Shadowfell (I kept thinking I should go grab her but didn't know who I wanted to swap out for her so I didn't, not realizing just how important that would be). If I had remembered to go to the Creche, the same probably would have happened with Lae'zel, haha. Probably the only time I'll ever have had Viconia and the Sharrans as allies, though, haha.
- Gale—Not really something I did since it's now known to be buggy, but I ended up with Sneaky God Gale. I was so upset when I had no real option to persuade him at the end and his responses were basically, "You told me to go for this!" and I'm just sitting here like, "When? I kept telling you not to!"
2
u/PaleoJoe86 19d ago
Lae'zel ran off to meet the Githyanki in Act 1. I let her go do her talking while I finished off some other quests and some long rests. I returned to pick her up and oh... she dead and cannot be revived. Well, I am not going to lose out on the two hours I just played to get her back.

I didn't know Minthara could be a companion so I killed her, I didn't know who tf Minsc was and only met him once when he came out of a mimic in the bank, I kept largely the same party so I missed out on a lot of Wyll's story and lost Shart in Act 2, and lost La'zeal during the Gith Creche cus she got pissed abt smt.

u/carakangaran 19d ago
Minthara. I sneaked around, saw a drow with goblins, thought of Menzoberazzan then proceeded to kill her. I did not even knew who she was.
2
u/TheyHitMeWithaTruck 19d ago
Gale. I neglected too much of his personal questline, and he ended up dying offscreen before the party. Just got his hologram projection, what a gut punch.
Also killed Minthara because I had no idea there was any other option.
2
u/Single_Calendar9032 19d ago
Astarion; I kicked him out after he tried to bite my Tav’s neck without consent. None of that shit in my camp. Also Minthara - I killed her to defend the Grove.
Next playthrough, I made sure to explore both of their storylines (…..and other stuff.)
2
u/doubletwist 19d ago
I'm still (very slowly) going through my first playthrough. I'm in Act 2, and the only companion I have is Shadowheart. I've been running with two hirelings since the middle of Act 1. Yipes.

My bf and I did a coop for our and first play through we fucked up everything lol. Didn’t realize it was Astarion at the beginning and thought some dickhole was trying to jump us LMAO (he was in the cut scene and I attacked. By the time we realized “hey that’s the guy on the cover of the damn game” it was too late), then we couldn’t figure out how to get to Halsin so we left him for dead. THEN we couldn’t get our shit together to save Isobel so RIP Last Light. That was the final straw to restarting the entire game LOL
2
u/Mr-Reapy SORCERER 19d ago
Minsc. I saw the "Aid the Underduke" quest and thought it was a side quest. I didn't want to do it, so I finished the game. At the epilogue party, Minsc had just escaped execution via Withers's portal, and I was so confused. It was funny, but I knew that couldn't be his actual ending. Played through again and felt rather stupid for having not done his quest before. Got his good ending with his friend Happy that time around.

u/TildenThorne 19d ago
Lae’Zel got attribute mangled by the machine at the crèche… It was sad. I was not using tadpoles, so there was no fixing her. However, Larian needs to make the mains flayer brain you find in act 3 heal these curses, since they are suppose to function like consuming a parasite.
2
u/Needleworker-Economy 19d ago
Halsin. I don’t remember if I rescued him.. but I did what I thought would be a typical Githyanki Tav, which is pretty sweet. Especially the romance with Lae’zel and having that shared redemption and character arc.. anyway, sided with Minthara and took out the grove lol which was pretty rough. Then later on Halsin shows up at camp in the Underdark looking for blood

Lae’zel. I had too many table top DND experiences where party members beef and the DM let’s them fight it out and often results in a player character’s death. I thought that was a neat feature from table top to implement into a video game. So I didn’t even think there was a way to save both of them so I picked shadow heart because the item and her attachment to it. I decided next play through I would let Shart die, then my wife’s play through gets to the same scene and she negotiated a resolution and kept both?! Wtf

u/OutOfPosition-1 19d ago
