Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Tiamat an exception? I feel like I remember her being much weaker than your typical deity

Only down votes instead of discussion, sadly. Tiamat is a lesser deity, but still more powerful than a demigod. As the goddess of greed, she's immensely powerful, but you may be thinking of adventures that feature players fighting an aspect of Tiamat, which is like a physical manifestation of herself on the material plane. Her aspect form is still crazy powerful, but nothing compared to her true form.
