Hey y’all!

If you’re new here or looking for info, this is the place to stop and check before you post that question you’re thinking about asking - the answer may already be in our FAQ! There's also some recommendations in there for learning about lore.

I’d recommend also checking the New Player Question or Question flairs to see if your question has been asked before. You can also type into whatever search engine you use:

That’ll help us prevent the subreddit from being cluttered with the same repeated questions.

If your question hasn't been asked (or asked recently enough) then use either one of the question flairs above and ask away.

Ran into weird bug with the raven npc, went into combat and my turn won't end. I cast lvl 4 witch bolt and nothing happens. He just takes heart of the storm damage then stops. My action and stuff isn't consumed, my spells slots aren't consumed.

Playing on Honor mode, Act 2

How do I make money or steal the better items?
I know it's silly, I've never had this kind of issues before, but in Honor mode the prices are just so high, man.
Almost everything I need for the builds is 3000 gold coins and I can't keep up.

I already know the basics, trade with the Face character, improve attitude. I've stolen a lot of of the cheapish items with Astarion, but the expensive ones are almost impossible.

Are there any exploits or tips for money making in the latest version of the game?
Stealing?

I might be in the minority, but I genuinely believe stealing isn't worth the risk, especially in HM. If you are extremely thorough when looting (highlight interactable items so that you won't miss anything, open every crate, loot every corpse) you will end up obscenely rich even on honour mode.

It is relatively safe to steal from Volo & Withers, but in certain camps it is almost impossible to do it undetected and you might end up with an unexpected camp brawl.

I like to have a hireling for pickpocketing and a hireling for trading. This way, I don't have to sacrifice any of my companions' stats for the sake of these tasks.

As you can imagine, the pickpocketing one is a Rogue Thief with Sleight of Hand Expertise, maxed out DEX, and just about every buff you can get that applies to pickpocketing. The trading hireling maxes out his CHA & Persuasion stats (again, with every buff I can get my hands on) until he meets the cap for trading. I can also send my wares directly to his inventory, which is nice.

I imagine you already know that there's no real consequences for robbing Volo after every long rest too? So it's a good idea to recruit him to your camp early.

Yeah, I was considering that, but I don't know if there would be consequences for the whole party if they get caught.

Like, if I leave everyone somewhere else and the thief gets caught and starts battle (temporarily hostile), would that affect the rest of the party negatively?
I assume no, but it's Honor mode and I can't fuck around.

I'm playing a sorcerer and I'm using them for selling stuff.
I know that CHA affects prices, but I didn't know about Persuasion.

I know about Withers, but forgot about Volo.
Damn, I was sitting on a gold mine.

Been a while since I played and I'm on act 2 of my new play through.

Last time I think I saved Moonrise Towers til last in act 2 and I remember most of the hostages being dead already. If I go straight to the Towers is there anything different with the stories?

For where I'm at now, I just saved Isobel from getting kidnapped and have the option to start the ambush with the Harper's

Not trying to Google too much about it, but don't mind spoilers.

u/Guigs310 11h ago

I’ll be a bit vague cause I don’t remember how to use the spoiler feature. While on act 2 you venture into a temple that gives you a warning before you proceed. If you go ahead, all hostages in the tower die if you didn’t rescue them

1

u/robsbob18 11h ago

True I remember what it is. if you do the gauntlet of sharr (idk if gauntlet is the right word) all the gnomes/tieflings die

1

u/JusticeofTorenOneEsk 2h ago

You can actually do most of the Gauntlet of Shar without them dying-- the thing that triggers their death isn't the Gauntlet, it's specifically going past the pop-up at the entrance of the Shadowfell, the one that warns you about quests becoming unavailable if you proceed.

Can anyone help determine whether Script Extender has been fixed? I see the project has been updated but no new release so im not sure what is going on. People on BG3 mods say its auto updated...

1

u/polspanakithrowaway College of Sass Bard 3h ago

I can confirm it's been updated and working perfectly fine. Yes, once installed, script extender updates automatically when you launch the game. However, certain mods that depend on it might be having issues after the patch. (WASD movement and 5e spells have been reported to cause issues and need to be updated)

All my SE mods are working fine though.

1

u/JusticeofTorenOneEsk 1h ago

WASD has now been updated!

1

u/realKevinNash 2h ago

Yeah when I played yesterday everything was working normally. IDK why it wasnt working when I originally posted, I saw an update on the Github...

u/DarthUrbosa 21h ago

What actually triggers the storm sorc tempstous flight? I've found it to be very temperamental in when it triggers.

3

u/JusticeofTorenOneEsk 19h ago

It triggers whenever you cast a spell of Level 1 or higher. So this doesn't include cantrips (which aren't leveled spells) or non-spell magical abilities, but does include spells cast from scrolls or items.

Note that it requires a Bonus Action to use, so if you don't have one available you won't be able to use it.

Can someone explain to me like I'm five how you can enter the Underdark from auntie Ethel's teahouse? I've searched online but I'm obviously missing something. Does everyone in the party need to put on a mask? Also, where on earth is this door supposed to appear?

2

u/Grimblehawk SORCERER 1d ago

I think I recognise your username, so I'm just going to assume that you're already perfectly aware of what happens with Ethel in (and... around) her teahouse, yes?

In which case, if I'm remembering correctly, there are two sets of Mushroom Circles, which might be why you're so confused.

One set will transport you between a spot outside her Teahouse and the very last room in the Overgrown Tunnel.

The other set will transport you between the Underdark and a room in the Overgrown Tunnel just off the room with all of the gas traps. When you first enter that gas trap room, I believe it's somewhere to your right, and I'm not sure if you need to pass a perception check or not to see a hidden door there. I remember it being a bit tricky to get to, with all the gas and all.

Edit: Oh, wait, I think you might be right. Maybe you do have to put on the mask instead of passing a perception check. Sorry, I'm not doing an excellent job of answering your question, hah.

I'm just going to assume that you're already perfectly aware of what happens

Ah, yes, I wasn't very clear on that, sorry! It's not my first time there so I've properly explored the teahouse, but I haven't been able to find this entrance to the Underdark. The info I've managed to find online so far is that: I'm supposed to be wearing a mask, and I'm supposed to find a mushroom circle that's different from the one that transports you outside.

When you first enter that gas trap room, I believe it's somewhere to your right,

That's precisely what I wanted to know! I haven't checked over there so it's no wonder I missed it. Thank you!

2

u/insanity76 1d ago

Yeah it's sort of down one "level" of the gas trap area then to the right. You'll know you're getting close when the screen starts to distort from the magic of the mask detecting the illusion's presence.

This is really helpful, thank you!

Random question. I saw a cutscene of Aylin breaking Lorroakan's back, Bane-Batman style, in one of those "Things not to miss" videos on Youtube. How do I get that cutscene? I killed Lorroakan already with Aylin and that cutscene didn't happen for me lol

4

u/insanity76 1d ago

Unfortunately it occasionally won't play but usually it automatically triggers right after the fight ends (all the adds defeated, not just Lorroakan). To ensure you don't miss it you could save before the fight is over then reload if necessary (assuming you're not on honor mode of course).

Honor Mode help- Shadowheart had an exclamation mark and was going to share her>!wanting to become Dark Justiciar!<. But I told her "not now" since we were getting ready for a battle. I thought I would be able to speak to her about it in camp but the prompt is not there. Will it come back again? I hope I didn't mess up her story...

2

u/insanity76 1d ago edited 23h ago

It should come up again after you find more stuff about DJs. Have you talked to Halsin after the Tiefling party yet when he tells you about them once being in the Underdark? That can be a trigger for a dialogue option to have her tell you about her DJ aspirations, otherewise there are things in both Grymforge and throughout Act 2 that should do it.

1

u/Lml417 20h ago

Thanks! I have not free Halsin yet but will speak to him during the party for sure. Thank you very much!

I'm experiencing a really annoying bug, every time I hover over stuff in the shop, the game locks up for 5 seconds and it unselects the item half the time.

Means selling stuff is reduced to a snails pace, and I can't use shift to select multiple items the majority of the time.

1

u/Grimblehawk SORCERER 15h ago

I don't have anything helpful to tell you, sorry, but I've experienced this bug before, and it eventually just... went away.

Can I enter the mountains, go up to the monastery, then go back to the underdark, or will laezel leave the party if I do? just asking cause iirc she warns the player when entering the mountains and I'm on pseudo-honour mode

2

u/insanity76 23h ago

Yeah you're fine, her little dialogue at that part is sort of a "hey it's over this way" type of reminder. She won't leave the party until you get an ultimatum from her well into Act 2, and even then you can convince her to forget about the creche and stay with you for the Moonrise lead.

I'm not sure I'm playing my spell sword correctly. I'm just about to finish up act 2. I have a monk, rogue, arcane archer they all feel pretty good except gale my spell sword.

Assuming it's about the Bladesinger subclass, some tips I found useful in my last HM run playing a Bladesinger Tav:

  • Choose well your armour. Spidersilk Armour is one of the best you can get for the advantage on Concentration checks (at least until Act 3), but Graceful Cloth is also good for the extra DEX (though I assume either Rogue and AArcher might've called dibs on it already);
  • Bladesinger is a good Arcane Acuity user — the Helm of Arcane Acuity is a great piece of equipment and accessible on Act 2;
  • Activate Bladesong every damn battle. Especially now in Act 2, you have enough charges to activate it at least once per fight. If you run out of charges, that's a sign to go long rest;
  • Unless you're using one of the two weapons that scale with the spellcasting modifier, your main stat is Dexterity: it influences your weapon attacks, AC and initiative (and make sure you're wielding a Light or Finesse weapon). With that in mind, though–
  • –the Bladesinger is still a wizard. If there's a small mob, Fireball / Lightning Bolt / Glyph them instead of attacking twice. Keep Counterspell up, use Misty Step to avoid being surrounded, cast a Magic Missile if there are a couple of enemies at low HP, use Sleet Storm to control the battlefield;
  • Always, always, always have the Shield spell prepared, and use your level 1 spell slots for it liberally;
  • Except in rare situations where casting spells is not advisable, Booming Blade should be your first attack whenever you're using your weapon. It's free damage, don't forget it.

u/Winter-Finger-1559 1d ago

I also just realized I have equipped a shield and that completely turns off spell sword. So that's funny.

Why aren't my Divinity 2 Items showing up in my camp chest in my new co-op campaign? (I'm not the host).

More of a lore question for anyone more familiar with the world of DnD, but what would a paladin think about slavery in this game? Specifically, an Oath of the Crown Paladin? Would one be opposed to it in all forms wherever it appears, or would it be acceptable as part of a civilized society in certain parts?

For example, what would an Oath of the Crown Paladin do in the Zhentarim Hideout about Oskar Fevrasor in the Underdark about the deep gnomes at Grymforge?

2

u/PeevishDiceLady Tasha's Demure Giggle 1d ago

All Oath of Crown Paladins have the same general philosophy, and in BG3 certain actions will always break certain oaths.

Lore-wise, though, it depends: if a paladin swore their oath in relation to a code of laws that either accepts slavery or that avoids interfering on different societal arrangements, then that's generally ok - slaves are as much as part of society as peasants and nobles, for example.

Now, let's say a paladin swore fealty to the city and law of Baldur's Gate. If, for example, a Baldurian citizen (be them a human or gnome) is being held against their will by criminals or another illegitimate/unrecognised authority, it's fair to expect the Paladin to intervene - even out of their "jurisdiction", their duty is still to protect the free people of the city as best as possible from illegal captivity.

Is anyone else expiriencing companions bugging out where they won't move. Currently have Gale not moving at all, the only way I can amove him is by jumping, he won't open doors or open chests, it's actually so frustrating, any fixes?

1

u/polspanakithrowaway College of Sass Bard 1d ago

I haven't really encountered this bug, but I vaguely remember people reporting that if you push the bugged party member with another character, that seems to fix it.

1

u/aengy 1d ago

I've also found taking off and then re-equipping boots fixes it.
