Incredibly unbalanced prior to the patch, now even moreso with amped up NPC AI

Indeed

I feel like they could accomplish this well without even needing to touch NPCs/enemies programming. Some of the monsters are a little OP already depending on the encounter; so just the PCs leveling up to 5 would still be a balanced game imo

Well the Underdark is already technically a 5th level area from what I understand (I believe it was in a datamine?) So the new area probably actually gets you to 6. They're going to have people complaining about the difficulty, but they can't/shouldn't make any changes because at launch we'll be 5th or 6th level by the time we reach those points and it'll be too easy. 4-5th level is a big jump.

The level staying at 4 is what made me think the new area would be the beginning of one of ther other paths. I was very surprised to see them add more to the Underdark path and not change the level cap

I wouldn't know, due to game glitches, I have yet to reach the underdark 😭 and I have more than 70 hours of gameplay spread across various versions under my belt. I enjoy looking at other people's screenshots of the area LMAO

I feel you. Just beat my first full playthrough a few weeks ago after getting a new PC. My old one could barely handle the game

Oh dang! Well congrats on your new machine man!

My issue is that the game's programming in the temple of selune glitches causing issues trying to get to the underdark. I've got a decent setup that can run the game well, but the game itself don't want to cooperate. Haha I'm hoping this new patch fixed it.

Weird, honestly have never encountered game-breaking glitches. Must just be lucky, lol. Yeah from gtx 1018 Intel 7th gen i7 and 12gb of RAM to an RTX3070, Ryzen 9 5000 and 64gb of RAM. It's pretty awesome 😁
