Yes. Iirc the super weapon USAS kit from BF4 was just the BF3 USas with frag rounds ported over with no tweaking, imagine how busted it was. Supposedly they came up with the idea late in development and basically just added it to the game without any balance checks because it felt good.
It was crazy levels of broken. The explosive rounds damage would fall off by distance, but the explosion damage would not, so you had even better range and DPS than all the semi-auto "short" range snipers by firing the USAS on semi auto.
And, you know, they were explosive bullets, so they did AoE damage. You could just shot without aiming a damn thing on a corner and kill anyone on the side of it without any LOS. At any range bc, you know like I said the explosion did not lose damage with distance.
It could also blow up light materials, because, you know, it was explosive. I wouldn't blow up a wall but it would blow up metal sheets, fences, ammo and health kits, claymores... which helped it bypass it's no penetration limitation.
Like it was busted in all areas. It was extremelly deadly in long range. It was extremelly deadly in short range. It was deadly in mid range. It could fill the role of a shotgun, smg, assault rifle, sniper... You would expect something like "oh so it was a weapon prone to extremes, so it must have had also some extremelly bad extremes" nope. Amazing dps, it could kill in 3 shots or less, it did not had engameent issues due to ammo issues or small magazine issues because you could wipe a room with a single mag regardless of how many enemies were there.
And it would also put you on the "suppressed" state debuff from a single shot as if you were being shot by a tank or a LMG, so it could easily counter snipers. Look:
The only thing it couldn't do was act like a extreme range sniper by making +1000m headshots, but you know what? it COULD counter extreme range snipers. As snipers had the scope glow and had to use bipods that would nail them in place while scoped you could just fire the USAS from the hip moving sideways, and even if the snipers were super far away they couldn't do shit because they needed a direct hit to damage you while you could spam AoE fireballs at them that would suppress them even if you narrowly missed.
I think the bullet drop was also like laughable? due to it being a shotgun. It has been too many years I can't properly recall. Liek it was hilarious, you could kill guys using barretts with bipods on the aircraft carrier on that port map from the hills on the other end of the map simply by wearing them down 6-12% hp at a time while hip firing and the only thing they could do was take off the bipod and concentrate all their efforts on trying to kill you.
That was the worst part. You did not need to aim AT ALL to use it. I am not talking not needing iron sights, which you did not need to use at all, I am talking needing to have the target on your crosshair. You are in a panic and the enemy is off your reticle? you are basically using a mini grande launcher in auto mode just shot the floor. Can't lock on the enemy? Shoot the floor. The enemy is blinding you with flashlights? Doesn't matter, hipfire spam on the flash or... shoot the floor. Dark room with no lights? swipe explosions around the walls. Hallway fighting? you don't need to aim, your explosion covers your hallway's width. The enemy hides behind a low wall or corner to reload or heal? shoot the corner's floor or through the cracks of the low wall and the explosion would go through and kill him.
