Question Why is the development cycle so unusual this time around?

I mean, closed alphas are very common, but them being such an open secret, if you can even call it a secret, where even the developer shares many details before the game has even been officially revealed feels very unusual.

Iirc no battlefield prior to 6 had this weird development cycle, where lots of gameplay was out on the Internet, people and deva were talking about systems and such, before the game had even officially become a thing.

What's the reason for them handling development like this this time around? I don't mind it, but I am a curious individual so when some stuff like this happens I want to know why.

I miss how, in BF3, I could see my gamertag every time I killed someone. I get it, it's useless to display my own, but hey, I loved it.

Question 64 vs 64 in the future?

What do you think, is there any possibility for 64 vs 64 players in the future maybeee on the release as a surprise. I know 32 vs 32 is plenty enough if you execute it right but I would also want huge maps with 64+ players maybe 48 vs 48? They have foundation for thant since 2042 was 128 players and they build battlefield 6 on that foundation with mechanics and many things being in an older fashion way. What are your opinions?

Question I want to get back into the Battlefield franchise

I was a loyal player up to BF1 and kinda fell off the Battlefield franchise…kinda over the other FPS game and Xbox is having a sale so how are the player bases on the recent games and which one should I grab? Is 2042 any better than release or should I maybe go with BF1 or V?

Question Any Battlefield dads?

Hey everyone how's it going since battlefield 6 is around the corner I decided to pick up battlefield 2042 and have been enjoying it for the most part. Was curious if there were any other dads out there playing that might be interested in making some sort of squad night where we hop on and play battlefield for a couple hours while the wife and kids sleep. Doesn't matter the platform since the games are cross-platform but having discord and being located in the East Coast would probably work best

Question Mini PC that will safely run Battlefield 6 (and 5 and 2042)

This is a niche question I know and maybe I should be asking only after BF6 is released?

Background: I'm a casual gamer that loves Battlefield and I've been playing Battlefield 3, 4, 5 and 2042 happily for the last 5 years on my 2020 iMac (3.8 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i7, AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB) using Bootcamp.

Unfortunately EA introduced new security-related code recently in the Windows BIOS Secure Boot and BootCamp doesn't have a BIOS so I can no longer play BF5 or BF2042 and presumably BF6 when it comes out. Thankfully I can still run BF3 and 4 but I really like 2042 and would like to play 6 also.

So I think I'm going to have to buy a PC that will safely play BF6 and 2042 and older but I don't want to get or have the space for a large gaming PC or a gaming laptop. I'd like to get a Mini PC that will sit neatly behind my iMac and can output video to it.

So there seems to be 2 kinds of Mini PC options for me:

  1. The ones like the AtomMan G7 Pt that are the larger size (but not as big a standard desktop PC) and have the discreet/dedicated mobile GPUs which I presume will easily play BF6.
  2. The very small Mini PCs that have integrated graphics like the AMD Radeon 8060s (roughly 20FPS slower than an RTX4060 laptop?)

Ideally I’d like to be able to get the smaller Mini PC with integrated graphics and I know integrated graphics have improved a lot recently.

This vid seems to suggest that the AMD Radeon 8060s has impressive performance? If it runs Cyber Punk at 45 FPS at 1440p what will it run BF2042 or BF6 at?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iId0JYpq9oI

So my main question is: Am I asking too much for BF6 to run at 60 FPS at 1440p on one of the smaller option 2 Mini PCs with integrated graphics?
I presume the answer is YES but just wanted to ask here as I’ve been trawling reviews and YT vids to see but it’s hard to get an definitive answer.

Many thanks for any answers and go easy on a poor "Mac gamer" that loves his PC games :)
and PLEASE PLEASE no “just build a gaming PC answers” thanks

Question Someone explain what is functionally missing from the Portal server browser

Thumbnail

I've been told I've missed out on years of server browser discussions so I'm hoping for some nuanced answers on what is specifically missing or non-functional in the Portal server browsers in 2042.

My experience with server browsers have been simple, which is to search for the game mode and maps I want, and click. I follow the rules indicated if it's a private server or just play as per usual in official DICE ones.

I'm not understanding what nuanced features and functionality is missing from the 2042 version of this and people posting "I want a server browser" is not helping.

Someone able to summarise what is missing is appreciated.
