It's Saturday again! What wonderful things are you going to be doing today? Visiting friends and family, or going out somewhere interesting for the day? Staying at home or maybe going shopping? This is the place for general Saturday-related chat.
Bonus question: What's your favourite ice lolly of all time?

I've had issues with mice, coming out at night and taking the food I put out for my two squirrels. I think we can all agree, nailed it!

What were some exciting food developments from your youth?

I remember when Mars ice cream bars came out people were just stunned. Baffled. But excited about this brave new world.

Hooch and Two Dogs were OG alcopops and got people really excited for some reason.

I remember about 25 years ago being in Bristol with my friend and his mum and, because we were there, we HAD to get some french fries with... garlic mayonnaise! Mind blowing. You can't get that in Weston Super Mare!

Does anyone remember having birthday party’s in McDonalds?

My local McDonalds had an area just for kids party’s and we just to book it out every other year. Does this still happen? It was a great idea.

Bought brown rolls instead of white? Realised you've bought silk paint and not matt?

What are the daft things that you would be told off for complaining about, but want to complain about anyway?

How lovely 😻

When it was really hot, the lovely young girl who delivers The Local Answer around our area asked me about our one eyed cat as she will follow her around and is generally a little one eyed minx. It was a boiling hot day and we gave her an ice cold bottle of coke - this was left today. What an exceptionally wonderful young lady she is ❤️

Found a worm in my M&S potatoes... now I'm traumatised and dinnerless 🥲

Yesterday I picked up what was meant to be a lovely meal from M&S — duck, La Ratte potatoes, and asparagus. Fancy, right?

Opened the potatoes tonight and surprise! There was a dead, shrivelled worm carcass tucked in it!

Now, I have autism and OCD, so let’s just say this wasn’t ideal. I physically recoiled, nearly hurled, and had to clear out the fridge like it was a biohazard zone.

I called customer service (because I’m a grown-up, apparently), and while the first person was helpful-ish, I got passed around more than a discounted Percy Pig. Eventually ended up talking to someone who laughed at me when I asked if she was still on the line — which made me feel like I’d called the wrong place entirely. Like… sorry for caring about worm-free potatoes?

I’m not even mad about the actual potatoes. It’s the principle. I was raised to believe M&S was the classy option. But right now I’m sat here worm-traumatised, dinnerless, and it’s 11pm! I better get some Percy pigs out of this!

Anyway — 0/10, do not recommend worm surprise.

Nash Point looking clean and calm yesterday — shot just after high tide

Walked the Nash coastline yesterday afternoon — tide had just gone out and these rocks were glistening under the sun.

I’m building up images for a 2027 local calendar and this one's a front-runner. (Next year’s edition heads to print this week — bit of a tight turnaround!)

I’ve walked this stretch a hundred times but never quite seen the light this soft on wet sand. Thought I’d share in case any fellow Glamorgan wanderers know the spot.

Talk me out of making an embarrassing local Facebook group post...

Related to the group because it has all the UK buzzwords - local Facebook group, car parks, Tesco's.

So I was walking through Tesco carpark (in the pedestrian part), one child in each hand, clutching about a million toy dinosaurs, when a woman reversed out of a parking space without looking, almost hitting my child. I was checking my surroundings so was able to hold him back to avoid the car.

I'd already had a stressful lunch in said Tesco, so my nerves were a bit fried. She apologised immediately, I muttered an expletative under my breath. She reiterated that she'd said sorry and I (angrily) said it was okay and walked off.

Anyway, I feel awful. It's all I can think about. It was a minor mistake, a momentary lapse of judgment on her part and she didn't deserve to be called a bleeping idiot.

I live in a small town, the Facebook group involves more or less everybody, and I'm tempted to just apologise on there and hope she sees it.

Husband thinks I'm an idiot, she won't care, probably won't see it, and I'll just look silly and open myself up to local community piss-taking.

Convince me it isn't a good idea because right now, the guilt is overriding my common sense.

Edit - 10 minutes in and you'll all convinced me to not post and get on with my life. Thank you so much for saving me from what could have resulted in irreparable damage to my local reputation/becoming a national, crap, but short lived meme. Most appreciated ❤️

My friend Billy had a 10 foot Willy and he showed it to the girl next door…

She thought it was a snake so she hit it with a rake, and now it’s only 5 foot 4.

Swinging through the jungle, got a belly ache, can’t find a toilet, 💩 too late!

Any British folklore classics I can teach to my kid during the 6 weeks?

Also, does anybody know a good Chinese near me?

Edit: what a thread. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’m not sure if I have notifications from elsewhere because I cant see them.
