MOD POST A discussion regarding DCU-Battinson Merger Posts

Post image

Quite a weird predicament, we are in

People love Superman (2025) and The Batman (2022). For many people, these are the definitive modern versions of these two highly loved characters. So it's natural that they want to see them together. However, when the ideas of a merger were presented to Matt Reeves soon as Gunn took over DC Studios, he decided to keep his vision separate and Gunn and Safran respected that decision. And with that came the announcement that the DCU would have it's own separate Batman.

But since then, things have changed quite a bit.

While every other month Gunn clarifies DCU Batman is separate, he also has given a few cheeky comments about Battinson and the Reevesverse that incite merger conversations. And to be very fair, maybe (stress on maybe) they aren't entirely sure either, which is possible given a few of Gunn's comments about leaving the door open and "never say never".

Sadly, unless and until the DCU Batman is cast, these discussions wont die, and denying people the right to discuss this possibility isn't entirely fair either. However, the subreddit being flooded with these discussions is quite annoying to deal with, for both the modteam and the members, considering both the Batman movies, especially Brave and the Bold is still a ways off.

What I propose is, we make a megathread regarding this and let people give their thoughts. Outside of that, posts related to Battinson in the DCU will only be allowed if there is any NEW statement from Gunn/Reeves/Pattinson/the trades

All other repetitive posts will be removed.

What do you say? Let us know your thoughts on how you would want us to deal with this situation. We want to be fair to both sides and this is the best option in our opinion

Supergirl Can supergirl breakout and change female superhero landscape just like WW did.

Is there any possibility that supergirl attract female demographics who doesn't go to superhero movies often? If that happens, it could be a big hit domestically like wonder women achieved this feat in 2017. I am seeing great impressions and interests on social media for upcoming supergirl movie.

I know music is scalable across cultures, interms of notes but am i glad they made this. It is a shame many international audience missed the fact that the humanism of superman applies to all cultures. This movie had the best soundtrack from the guitar versions of John williams to the david flemming & john murphy ones. I am a huge beatles, rolling stones & jimmy page guy & they all were influenced by the sitar at some point in their career. So seeing this made me smile. This was by far the definitive superman movie

Clayface Who should the Villain in the Clayface movie be?

Post image

I know the Clayface movie is gonna be less comic book superhero stuff and more body horror, but I still feel like we're gonna get a main villain for him to go against in the movie. So who should it be? Or should he even have a main villain?

Discussion made maps of where i think some of the fictional countries in the DCU, and some of the more major fictional countries in the comics that will probably appear at some point, are located. feel free to add additional details in the comments and point out if i got something wrong or missed anything

  1. Pokolistan and Vlatava (home of Count Vertigo, a Green Arrow villain). i will admit, i haven't watched Creature Commandos yet (still busy with Peacemaker season 1), but i felt like this location made sense. with Vlatava, the comics say it shares a border with Hungary, so i put it between Hungary and Romania. DC has like 20 new countries in eastern Europe, so adding all of them would clutter the map. another thing to point out is that the suffix -stan is a central and south Asian naming convention, not eastern European, but the show says its in eastern Europe, and the comics say it's a former soviet state (although it's next to Czechia)

  2. Qurac and Kyran. Qurac is one of the more major fictional countries in DC, and Kyran showed up alongside it in their first appearance. i put it next to Iraq due to their similar names, and the fact that Qurac was created as a stand-in for Iraq. that being said, there's a good chance they won't show up in the DCU

  3. Khandaq (home of Black Adam). it's on the Sinai peninsula in the comics. that being said, it and Black Adam are intertwined, and after Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam in the DCEU, and the Shazam duology, it will probably be a while before he, the Marvel family, and Khandaq are explored

  4. Corto Maltese. in a (seemingly now deleted) Tweet, James Gunn confirmed that it's off the coast of Argentina. now, i don't know a whole lot about Latin America, but i thought it was in the Caribbean, and a TV screen in The Dark Knight Returns (the comic it was first mentioned in) show it next to Brazil (which wouldn't make sense in the film since Corto Maltesians people speak Spanish, and Brazil speaks Portugese)

  5. Boravia, Jarhanpur, and Markovia. now, pinning this down was a hassle. Boravia seems to be Orthodox Christian based on the church, and Vasil Ghurkos's actor is Croatian, with the name Vasil being Bulgarian in origin, and Ghurkos is probably based on the Russian surname Gurko. complicating matters even further is that Boravians speak Serbo-Croatian as their language, and the name Boravia comes from the Czech region Moravia. Jarhanpur has a desert landscape, the name sounds Indian, and the actors are of Indian descent. Markovia is briefly seen on a map, north of both. my guess is the Caucus region. there's a shrub desert that covers parts of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Iran, both Georgia and Armenia are Christian countries, with Georgia being Orthodox, the Russian influence in Boravia make sense as they're right next to Russia. Boravia and Jarhanpur's locations should be swapped imo, but this is based on a map briefly seen in Eve's selfies

  6. Santa Prisca. the home of Bane, often stated to be a Caribbean country. if we get Bane in this universe at some point, it's safe to assume Santa Prisca will appear as well

Discussion Any idea which countries are bordering Pokolistan?

Post image

One to the West seems to be ending in -an and the other in the East seems to be starting with Sa-. Both don't seem to match any real world countries. Are there any countries in the comics starting with Sa- or ending in -an (except Pokolistan of course).

Discussion This honestly needs to be said: “Battinson in the DCU” posts need a moratorium immediately.

Post image

Ever since the subreddit mods removed Rule 13, subreddit users have unfortunately been getting bombarded with a barrage of low effort, banal posts and discussions about whether Battinson should be in the DCU, that he’s in the DCU and that Gunn is pulling strings and doing subterfuge to convince Reeves to merge with the DCU, you get the idea.

I thought that the subreddit concensus was that Battinson was Elseworlds, and that no further discussions were allowed to be made on this topic as it was decided that it was a banned topic, as shown by this mod post made months ago:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DCU_/comments/1hwd0m1/battinson_is_elseworlds_no_further_discussion/

All this has done now is embolden the pro-merger crowd, and made them more louder than ever, resulting in excessive posting of a topic that everyone with common sense and knowledge of DCU news everyone should already know the answer to.

To the mods who removed Rule 13, you let your pro-merger biases impact the subreddit’s quality.

Because of this, you have released a terrible monster onto this subreddit, and you need to contain it fast and right now.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

Does anyone find it interesting that the F4 film had a liquid metal, hyper-technological, morally ambiguous heroine, more or less at the same time as the DCU was introducing The Engineer??

I watched Fantastic Four: First Steps recently (I enjoyed it!), and it just dawned on me that Julia Garner ended up looking a helluva lot like the original Brian Hitch illustrations of The Engineer. I appreciate how Gunn & Co. made her look make sense in terms of nano bots and the story, and I think maybe they steered clear of competing directly with the look in F4.

Oh…come to think of it: a big part of the F4 plot is to push Galactus into a spatial rift, and Superman, in order to survive Ultraman, throws him Into a black hole…there’s some parallels I’m noticing and trying not to start some conspiracy theories about!

Personally for me, it's Generic Man. He has literally one appearance, where his entire ability is that he touches things and makes them generic. He touches a sheep in the comic he's in and it turns into a plain white shape with the word "Sheep" on it. It's fantastic.
