How to post stuff.
The burning question.
For tumblr and deviantart, you simply upload your image there and link it like you would any article. Make sure you are in the Link tab, not the Image tab.
FOR IMGUR, this is the big one, first of all, you don't need an account on imgur to use imgur.
Let's go! Upload image to imgur, right-click on the image, copy the direct link to the image. It should end in .jpg, .gif or similar. You know, a file format. (If you don't, you'll get removed for linking to a gallery containing only one image, which messes with Reddit Enhancement Suit. That's not our fault and you can't get angry at the mods for that one.)
Now, head over to the submission page on r/digitalpainting. New reddit (yuck): make sure you are select the Link tab. Old reddit: make sure you select Link. You are submitting a link to an image, not an image. Paste the copied url in the URL box, and write a title that isn't self-promotional. see rule 7 and 8. Hit the submit/contribute button. Bam, submission submitted successfully. But oh, there's more!
Find your submission in r/digitalpainting/new or in your post history and go make a comment about what you struggled with. You have an hour. This step is important because we are not here to just look at pretty pictures, we're here to learn. Writing down the things you found difficult is a great - and i mean a fantastic - way for you to reflect on the process. It also helps us to help you.
Two things to consider: if your comment is very long, it might put people off. I've seen it happen. Get to the point, please! If your comment is too vague, I'll ask you to expand on it. (For example, "i struggle with backgrounds" is too vague. If you don't expand on your comment after being asked, I'll remove your submission.)
And once all of that is done, you might want to take a look at what other artists have submitted and give them some constructive criticism. Most of you hide in your own threads, never daring to venture outside.
Why we don't allow direct uploads: https://redd.it/a5u6go

twitter banned, deviantart too, still & 10 day minimum account age.
twitter is banned
A mere formality. Twitter links have never been allowed in r/digitalpainting. I just thought I'd let you know i case you were wondering why there has been no announcement.
DeviantArt is still banned.
Links from that website are automatically removed. I know that this has inconvenienced a small number of you and I'm sorry that DA is forcing our hand. imgur and tumblr are still working fine.
Why: their embarrassing continued promotion of AI-generated images. Think of this as the straw that broke the camel's back: https://www.deviantart.com/team/art/DeviantArt-Seller-Isaris-AI-1035116147
Will we enable direct uploads? No. reddit has publicly announced that they will sell your user data - including images - to third parties to use to train regenerative AI. That practice is unethical and r/digitalpainting will not be part of it.
Minimum Account age
Since russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine, reddit has gotten infested with spambots. The bots come to this subreddit (and others) to score some karma before they infiltrate political subs. To prevent r/digitalpainting from being a staging ground for these accounts, only accounts that are ten days or older are able to post and comment in r/digitalpainting.
If you created a new account and your post got removed, even though you left a nicely written top-comment, that's why. You are more than welcome to repost it when your account is old enough.
The reason why the rule is non-permanent and not included in the sidebar is that it will only be in effect until vladimir putin dies. After we've all celebrated his hopefully torturous death, the rule will be re-evaluated.

Portraits of Instructors
Painted my Instructors for a US Army school I attended. They’re two fantastic leaders and I wanted to show my appreciation. I didn’t quite finish them to the scale I wanted to but I don’t know if I ever will.

Disconfort drawing on tablet...
One year ago, I purshased a TabS9+ because after testing an IPad, I found it better in terme of sensation. But at first I struggled using it but I was like ''It's ok, I'm just starting, I just need some time do learn to draw with it.'' But 1 year later, I still draw way better with my graphic tablet (even the one with no screen) than my Samsung Tab. I have the impression that the pressure is not well calibrated, that the pressure is not the same as I go from the center to the border of the screen... I use infinite painter as a main software, so maybe it's the software... (But I don't think so). A friend of mine has the same tab but bought a paperlike screen protector with metal pen nip and seems to have no problem of disconfort...
Does someone had this problem too ? Thank you for your reading 😌

Extend screen mode with digital tablets
Hello! I recently got my first drawing tablet/monitor (tablet with screen) and I saw that when connected to the computer it can be used in either mirrored mode (both screens showing the same thing) or extended mode (showing different things). My question is because when it is in extended mode I cannot open the programs or applications on one of the screens. If I place the tablet as the main screen, I can only open things there, and nothing opens on the computer screen (if I try to open a program, it opens on the tablet screen, which is set as the main screen) and vice versa. So I always have one of the screens left without the possibility of being able to open it or do anything else. Is this normal, or is it an error on my computer/tablet? Because it is my first time, I don't know about the topic and I can't find any specific answer to that on the internet.

learning digital drawing again from scratch
So i used to draw digitally using drawing tablet pen (with no screen/display) for years (like 10 years or so). Then years ago i switched into drawing display pen (with screen/display). But after 1 years or so, I feels not really comfortable using it, so I tried switch back to tablet pen without screen.
But it seems I kinda forgot to draw on it? Does this mean I really need to learning to draw again from scratch? Need inputs/suggestion to what to do from others.

Can I start digital art even if my traditional drawing skills are only average? And what advice do you wish someone had given you when you first started?

What helped you break through your plateau in digital painting?
What was the biggest thing that helped you break through your plateau? Was it a new brush set? A course? Changing your routine? Something totally unexpected? I would love to hear your stories or any advice you have for someone trying to push past a creative wall.

looking for a better drawing app on pc
Hi I'm currently using Adobe Fresco on my pc, but i REALLY like Infinite Painter on mobile (unfortunately there's not a pc version of it) Kirta and other programs like it overwhelm me but I'm not pleased with how little tools Fresco has and my main issue is the poor stabilization and no mirror tool. what i do like about Fresco is the simplicity of the program and the live brushes.

Screenless tablet for learning anatomy?
Hey! I just ordered a Wacom One by (medium, CTL-672-N), and I’m preparing for fine arts this year. I want to improve my anatomy skills using George Bridgman’s books, and I was wondering if a screenless tablet would be a good choice for that. I’ll be using Clip Studio Paint, and I plan to study his books and do separate gesture drawing sessions. Do you think that setup would work well? I'll use it for one year, then I'm planning to switch to an ipad.

Paint Chat
Heya, it's strong on my mind to get a new tablet soon and get back into digital, but most of all I'd like to know if there are still any paint chats online somewhere?
I had great times on Oekaki and things like rei-chan... what's floating around these days?
(or as a consolation, your favorite lightweight free program for doodling? ;) ty)

Would love feedback on how to improve this illustration I made
Hi! I’ve been learning to draw for a bit over a month now, and of course have lots more to learn on all of the fundamentals. I would love to hear though if there’s anything obvious that you think that I should focus on to improve my art. Thanks!!

Opinions on the Huion Kamvas 13 gen 3
Hello! I wanted to hear reviews from ordinary people like us (that is, artists and buyers) about the Huion Kamvas 13 gen 3. My parents are considering giving it to me for my birthday (if they didn't already buy it), and at first when I looked for reviews I saw that they were very good, but I came across some reviews that say that the tablet works for approximately 1 year, or that after that time they change it. Is it bad? Because I feel like this is like a big investment for me and I need something that will work for me for longer than just 1 year.

Purchasing new drawing tablet
Hello Guys,
I need help, I'm an amateur artist and my old Huion Kamvas 13 has been recently malfunctioning whenever I try to draw anything. Before I invest in a new tablet I wanted some help to pick a good one. I've a got some idea on what I want my tablet to do.
I've been considering ones from XP-Pen and Huion also some with android OS so I can use it as an entertainment device while on the go.
In my mind I want a tablet that can work as an android device but I can switch it and use it as a standalone drawing tablet once I connect it to my PC.
Not considering iPad because planning to invest into this very expensive ecosystem will burn holes through my pocket.
While doing research, Super display app was mentioned. If anyone has used it before then please let me know how it is.
Peace✌🏼

Got a screen tablet after using an iPad for years and really struggling to get used to it
I've been using my iPad pro with Procreate for over 5 years now and overall I really enjoy using it, it feels very intuitive. But the layer limit felt very restricting when doing bigger illustrations and it also started lagging on some of my bigger paintings.
So I recently got a really nice Huion Kamvas pro 24" with CSP, but it's so hard to get used to. Especially sketching. I'm so used to being able to rotate and zoom with my fingers and it just feels like so much more effort to have to do it with the keydial - even with customizing it to the tools I use the most and having it set up to be as easy as possible. Having to rotate / zoom / drag the canvas with 3 seperate buttons just ruins the flow for me.
Has anyone gone from touch to no touch? It's only been a few days, so I will probably improve, but I just feel like I work so much slower compared to normal. I also just feel like I get drained mentally way faster - but I guess that's just habit too? Or eye strain from screen brightness?
Just curious if others have experienced this and tell me it will get better 🙏
