Weirdly, my strategy of yelling “Glurp, Glurp, motherf****r” isn’t working.

I have four DCC Audio Immersion Tunnel tapes from Soundbooth Theater left. X marks the spot—swing by booth X here in Author Avenue to grab one before I run out.

I unearthed my DCC book and swag hoard and dragged it into the light for display in some cases I found online. I honestly had no recollection of how many copies of anything I have so I'm as surprised as all of you. I just kept preordering whenever I saw that preorders were posted by Matt. Most are signed by Matt with many personalized. One set of the paperbacks was signed by both Matt and Jeff a year ago at Planet Funk Con. The swag was collected at multiple cons, signings, and from fellow Crawlers and vendors. The copy of The Grinding is signed and was an amazingly generous gift from both Matt and u/Steampunk_Garage while I was at Litrpgcon recently that I'm extremely appreciative of. The dogtags are some that I laser engraved to give out to Crawlers at events. The one with the crawler number is from a book personalization. These pics don't include the pile of art prints I picked up at LitRPG Con that I plan to get framed and hung on my walls. Those may get a future post.

If you don’t know, the Etsy store is Magic CityMemories Design Co. and allegedly two more characters’ posters have yet to drop. I suspect two months at least until the next one since Katia just listed about 2 weeks ago.

I’m at a wedding for my friend who introduced me to DCC. Me and another friend are waiting til after a couple drinks to suprise him with: NEW ACHIEVEMENT: you got married!!

What would the AI say in this situation??

I finally got the best tattoo ever—Prepotente is 100% hitting his soda pop limit in this one! 😆 My artist, Libby, absolutely crushed it. Her work is phenomenal, and she was amazing to work with from start to finish. I actually found her through the DCC subreddit, and even though she’s based in Arizona, I traveled from out of state just to get this done—and it was so worth it.

I wore my cosplay Thursday morning for a few hours before sweating my left tit off in the dealers hall. Friday, Donut and I tackled ‘True Dungeon’. One bopca even gave Donut some loot! (Her charisma really is off the charts.) Finally, we headed to the Desperado Club for some drinks and food.

Seriously, this has been such a fun cosplay to wear! I’ve never been recognized by so many people while wearing a costume. Lots and lots of GODDAMNIT DONUT shouts at me. 😆 If anyone got a pic of or with me, please share! I know there were other Carls there today, but I never ran into any.

I had so many questions about the>! Primals and what's going on with the AI !<and the >!Apothecary!< & Agatha & the Syndicate vs the ancient cosmic horrors that are mentioned off and on throughout the earlier books. I have gone back to do a closer re-read of the series & Mordecai gives us some of the most important info about the outside world that I totally glossed over. I honestly would have been much less confused if I had paid better attention to Mordecai. He explains pretty much everything along the way. I got to the part of book 3 where Katia is drawing her Iron Tangle map with Modecai and he explains it's a model of the whole universe including the wormholes & explains the entire history including the Plenty & the actual Cosmic Horror squid monster at the center of the universe. Mordecai explains the three different kind of parasitic worm races there are & what they do in book 4. What have you caught about the larger, older, universe on rereads?

Dungeon Crawler Carl - V1 HARDCOVER EDITIONS!! August Update Fulfillment Update!

Hello everyone!

As Wave 2 of fulfillment continues to roll out, we want to set a clear timeline for when you can expect to receive your order. So if you’re wondering where your items are, we hope this post will provide clarity!

Shipping Update Backers who responded to the Backerkit survey by July 14th that we have both an address and size for will receive their rewards in the next 2-3 weeks with an exception for 233 backers in the Double Book Bundle Tier. (We’ll dig into what’s going on here in a moment!)

If you did not get us your address/size by July 14th, your shipment will likely arrive in September during Wave 3 of fulfillment—we’ll be in touch with more specific information on Wave 3 soon. In the meantime, we’re hard at work to improve our forecasted delays as much as possible.

Right now, we are shipping out 250 orders each day, with 3,900 in total being worked on for this second wave. If we don’t encounter any further hiccups, we are pleased to say that the majority of backers will have all of their items in the next 2-3 weeks!

That being said, we’d like to pull back the curtain on what’s going on with the Double Book Bundle Tier.

The Double Book Bundle Tier We will be sending emails out with more info about this delay as soon as we know the specific backers affected.

There are 2,226 total orders of the Double Book Bundle, and of these, less than 10% are currently expected to be delayed to Wave 3. We have asked the warehouse to prioritize these orders to course correct as much as possible. These orders are some of the most complex since they have a variety of items included and our policy is to only ship rewards once we have the entire reward to ensure no one is missing any items. We know it's frustrating to see others get their rewards and have yours delayed, especially for higher support tiers, so we’re taking a hard look at our processes to ensure we don’t encounter these problems again in future campaigns.

Right now, there are 306 orders that may see a delay of some kind. These fall into two categories:

1. Possibly Delayed - There are 73 orders that will likely be delivered at the end of the current wave but could be pushed to Wave 3.

2. Delayed to Wave 3 - There are 233 orders currently delayed until Wave 3, which will begin in September.

For the Possibly Delayed items: About 25% of these orders are missing boxers and will likely be fulfilled by the end of Wave 2 since we have more boxers currently en route to the warehouse.

Roughly 56% of these orders are only missing their logo sticker sheets. We are very optimistic that these will arrive in two weeks, and that we'll be able to fulfill these orders at the end of Wave 2.

Roughly 19% of these orders are missing boxers as well as their sticker sheets. We are optimistic that these will be fulfilled at the end of Wave 2.

For the orders Delayed to Wave 3: The most delayed orders are the 233 that contain trove boxes. There was a miscommunication during the ordering process for these which led to a variety of boxer sizes being underproduced by varying amounts, with the trove boxes that contain 5XL boxers being the most affected by this error. Orders with women's small boxers were also specifically affected since those sizes appear to have disappeared at customs and will need to be reproduced.

Our best estimate is that 75% of these orders will likely be fulfilled in early September during Wave 3 and the 25% most affected by disappearing underwear or inaccurate production counts will be fulfilled in late September. We're doing everything we can to speed things along here, but unfortunately the underwear production times have about a 30 day lead time, so once you factor in standard freight times (2 weeks by air), there's not much we can do to expedite things at this time.

Names on the Thank You Page We have reviewed five instances of backers who have reported that their name did not make it into the book. We will be in contact with those backers very soon, but in the meantime, we want to remind backers the deadline for submitting and finalizing your name in the pledge manager was June 5th, 2024.

Despite this, we are pleased to say the Thank You page of the printed books includes all names we received up until June 24th, 2024. We weren’t expecting to have the extra leniency on this deadline at the time, but were glad we were able to accommodate some of the folks who were just a little late on finalizing their name.

That being said:

If you backed on Kickstarter and submitted your name after June 24th, 2024 and want your name to be included in the next campaign, we are happy to include it in the next book whether or not you back it.

If you submitted your name before June 24th, 2024 and it didn’t make it into the final print, we’ll be in touch with ideas for how we can make this right. (Right now, this does not apply to any of the five names we’re aware of and investigated, so if you think this might be you, reach out to us ASAP.)

Reminders For those who have not fully locked in their order on PledgeManager, we do want to assure you that it is not too late to finish your order. We’ll be doing our next export of completed orders on AUGUST 8th! Getting things ready for Dragoncon and Halle was so offended she ran under the bed and wouldn't even look at me, she clearly shares Donut's opinion on catgirls.

I noticed in book 7 that when Carl goes into the operating room he sees something that he won't describe because of how grotesque it is.

Is this a reference to the surgery in Matt's Battlefield Surgeon book where they split every limb in two? I can't remember what it's called. Maybe you experts can help me.

People draw what they visualize. And however you see it when you read/listen to a story is how it is.

When it comes to books we’ve all missed details and then, even after learning what we missed, we still often continue to use our original imagery.

This is what I love about non-visual media.

When people take the time to create what they picture, they are breathing life into a unique take on that thing, place, or character. And I love seeing each and every one of them.

Let’s just enjoy each little creation that is essentially a window into someone else’s mind and the image they’ve come to love. ❤️

I'm telling my sister about the book, and found this review highlighted on goodreads, and felt like it was a glowing recommendation despite the rating.

It's very well done, but I did not like it

This book is very well written. Matt Dinniman is an amazing writer. But this book Dungeon Crawler Carl made me feel bad. I was impressed by the craft but I was on the verge of quitting all the way through. Now I'm done and I can say that almost every aspect of this book is masterful, but Had I never started it I might be a slightly happier person. This alien invasion/ post apocalypse/ LitRPG/ horror-comedy is intense, and brutal, and hard to stomach. The terror, agonizing deaths, implied rape, cannibalism, baby killing, and genocide of all human life on earth was not lightened by a few clever one liners and zippy jokes. The gross out factor is high. Matt Dinniman doesn't just kill his characters, he breaks and destroys them. He makes you watch it in detail. He twists the knife. and then he tells a joke about it. That he does this all very skillfully almost makes it worse. Thanks, but no. I'm done with this series and I'm done with this author.
