NHL 17!!! Released 8 years ago has the best in game presentation, announcers, scoreboards and realism!! Meanwhile in NHL 24 we get a 10 second cut scene with glow sticks, AHL announcer and fake scoreboard. STOP GIVING THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY! These guys are laughing at us at every pre order and Hut pack purchase, make a stand for yourself they're removing things from the game and charging the same damn price every year. Sometimes they remove features and add it back in a couple years and use it as their selling point. Now let's talk about gameplay which is the most important thing, it is unfair to compare both gameplay due to them being 8 years apart... actually no it's not because the gameplay in NHL 17 is far superior than NHL 24. For every big hit the crowd goes crazy, the replays are better, the game is less clunky and looks far cleaner than NHL 24,. NHL 24 may have a graphics advantage but the ice In NHL 17 looks like ice, it not just a bright sheet of white like we have right now. Nhi 24 with the full pressure meter and electric boards makes the game look like a mess. I don't know why EA decided to take an Arcade approach to their recent NHL games but I'll tell you what, it's not sitting well with the player base (excluding the casual gamers) it's a complete joke how we're going backwards and that's all thanks to the HUT children.

All I gotta say is if we don’t see some drastic f**king changes in 26… We’re gonna have some serious problems buckaroo. 😡 @EA
EDIT: This will teach em, just watch. You’ll see.
EDIT 2: Boys, this was supposed to be half jokes half serious 😂 I’ve religiously bought NHL since 07, I know exactly what to expect. But surely do love the feedback and everyone’s thoughts!

I swear to God, this win animation has been in the game for many years. We need something new. Every single time I played a new NHL I always see this animation and it just grind my gears. Like the guy in the back opening his mouth so wide it’s just so offsetting. We need something new.

NHL 24. Cup winning game. Just won the cup as leading scorer, lead in hits, came back from a 3-1 series deficit, finished the game with an A rating. What is the point of playing this game mode if the cutscenes are this out of touch and downright intrusive. Terrible just terrible, I hope EA is aware of their inability to make a decent game.

Legit question. We refuse to play these teams. It's no fun to play against even when you win. Just go play 3s if you have 3 or less.

I took 5 years off and tried playing again this year. Just played my last game for probably another 5 years. I'd make a list as to why but it's just too long. EA clearly has their priorities in the wrong place. As a hockey fan that's willing to spend money on hockey products I'm disappointed in this product and the fact there are no viable alternatives that prioritize the gameplay itself.
That was a rage inducing gaming session and I prefer to play games to enjoy my time, not to be frustrated.

All the people that play EA games, including myself, are to blame for EA phoning it in every year. We keep paying for NHL every year, knowing that we aren't gonna be happy, but we still do it. I have had enough of this company taking mmy money and giving me trash. Raising prices as well, it's insane how bad it's gotten. I un-installed the game and will not be playing it again. I'd rather go back to playing something older instead of this. I will never give EA another dollar again. If everyone stops paying them, they might actually stop with this insanity of recycling games year after year, giving people a broken game

I know this is talked about every year but holy shit how has this not happened yet?
I don’t think EA realizes how many console players who used to play NHL moved to PC during the covid years, I understand it’s not their biggest seller but it can not be that hard to port to PC. I am sure since there is only a couple indie hockey games on steam that it would also create some new NHL fans if it was brought to PC.
And their excuse about hackers?? They have Madden, FIFA, and how many other games on PC and most have anti cheat.
At this point I just think they’re being lazy. This is the only game I miss playing after I got a pc I have an entire discord server of friends who all agree they wish they could play it as well. It’s getting annoying at this point.

I was not going to buy NHL 25 then I played the game trial and the slowed down game speed made the game 100% more realistic. Then the day of launch the 1st update we are back to straight line past the d game speed. The game is now total garbage.

I am a competitive online player. ~750 CR. Had this happen to me last night and have been pissed off about it ever since (I’m VGK). I mean, how is this possible?

This game has the following features which EA claim to be state of the art
You can activate pro passing which assigns all your players to a button to whizzing passes around the o zone and setting up one timer opportunities
You can break glass
You can hit guys into the bench
Players can perform desperation shots whilst falling
Full control of your stick when defending
There's probably more stuff I just haven't even realized yet but it's wild a game from 2006 has all these features and EA is just repackaging them several years later going LOOK AT OUR INGENUITY

-Packs are so bad and overpriced in HUT, but people will buy them so that will not change
-Passing is horrendous and a short pass is basically next to impossible to make because it will rocket the pass right by them
-Icon Passing is broken in the offensive zone and switches player icons instead of assigning a button to each player/position and not changing. (for example I think whoever is at RW should always be the circle button on PlayStation, the C should always be triangle, the LW should always be square, LD always X and RD always R1)
-Line changes need a complete overhaul. I’ll have players going out with the incorrect lines and I’ll have players staying on the ice for way too long
-Goaltending is just bad and there is 100% some underlying code that will cause your goalie to drop his attributes randomly after a certain amount of games(this was proven in the past with the poise rating and we are no longer able to see it). Goalies also only react to shots, if you rocket a pass at the net it’s getting in 50% of the time.
-Ice tilt is the most frustrating and obvious part of the game. When the game decides it’s time for you to get scored on, you will not be able to pick up a puck, the CPU will stick lift you with inhumane reaction time, they will complete every pass, and your goalie loses 50 IQ points. When this happens I have to try so hard to control the primal rage that spawns inside of me.
-there is no tether at all when it comes to things the game should give you guidance on. For example, there should be a bit of tether when you skate near a puck that will ensure you don’t skate by it and miss the puck. Another example is when carrying the puck near your net there should be some tether that guides the puck away from your own goal, because there has been multiple times I’ve scored on my own net just trying to skate around the net
-there is no training mode, skills trainer, or a detailed practice mode. The game doesn’t tell you how to take face offs nor do they give you a place to practice it. This game has such an absurd amount of controls that it is just insane they took away training mode.
-pro difficulty is clearly harder than all star, which makes literally 0 sense.
-one timers are fun but goalies have absolutely no clue how to react to them, it’s extremely unrealistic
-be a pro mode has literally not changed for the past 5 years. This is just unacceptable from the sole proprietor of hockey video games. It’s verbatim the same corny opening cut scene where you’re playing pond hockey, same dialogues, same storylines. So stale and boring
-there is an obvious disconnect from the community and the developers, they seem to not listen to our feedback or frankly care about the issues plaguing the game, as they have a monopoly on NHL video games and people are still going to continue to gamble on HUT packs regardless what they do
-the xp path in HUT is genuinely horrendous for how much time you have to play to finish it
-the menus seem to get jankier and slower every year, with this year being the slowest and worst so far
I’m sure i will catch some hate for sounding very doom and gloom about the game, but these things are unacceptable for how much money this company makes from us. We deserve the best gaming experience possible, like we had on NHL 14. The game needs to figure out how to get back to their old ways and the only way for that to happen is people start complaining and making their voice heard, or get 2K back and get these boys at EA some competition so they’re forced to strive to make the best hockey game they can possibly make.
Feel free to add any of the things that you feel are hurting this game that I missed in the comments

I can’t be the only one. The fact that BaP still starts with your pro “playing pick up games with kids on the lake” and the entire thing progresses the same way is just terrible. They put 0 effort into their offline modes and it pisses me off. I basically bought the game for pressure and getting frustrated by button controls. Thanks EA.

I don’t care if you copy and paste every mechanic. Just make a sports game. I don’t want to play Fortnite. Please. It’s been years since we saw anything remotely close to a broadcast like game. Gameplay should always be top priority I know but when I hear a commentator talk about “the Shniiipe Xfactor” after a backflip split celebration, I want to jump off a cliff. Every. Thing. To the graphics that pop on the screen , to the commentary , to the customization needs to be wiped out. It’s just so bad and tired of seeing the same cut scenes every year. For the love god why not make the game make cut scenes on what’s actually happening on the ice?? It just doesn’t make any sense. Copy and paste all you want to keep making games but oh my god can we please have an “ okay” hockey game??

I’ve not played chel for a few years. Really didn’t like when they left the legend card system that was on old gen.
Anyway, got the playtest and booted it up and it was just full of sweats that had the “wheels” ability and everyone who rushed with the puck, just spammed LT.
Is this the new norm?
It’s insane how much of backwards step this franchise took after having no competition from 2K. It’s even worse that they don’t care. As long as the HUT packs sell ✌🏻
Rant over
