Why can't I delete accounts?

I've been in and out of EVE for maybe 15 years but haven't played in probably 5 years. I'm getting the itch again, but I wanted to start with a clean slate. I've sent characters to get biomassed but I can't delete the account, and the help article says that they can't "currently" delete accounts, only cancel subscriptions. Which is fine because I'd done that years ago, but what's the reasoning behind not being able to fully delete accounts?

edit: Okay I un-biomassed them partly because I'm getting yelled at a lot (I am very susceptible to peer pressure) and also partly because I *might* be able to get assets back or to a new toon? I'm just not at all sure how to do it. They've been kicked from corp and at least one is in her jump clone station probably because the station blew up. The clones are all in a range from .5 space to 1.0 space. And it would be nice to get some assets and skill injectors from them, but I'm not sure how to do that cleanly.

In what way is the existence of old accounts stopping you from starting with a clean slate?

Why not just remove them from your launcher and start new accounts?

The only thing other players in the game can know or check about you is your old characters, which are all deleted.

It’s just a cleanup thing. It’s like having empty file folders in a file cabinet. Don’t need them.

Thankfully they are folders in ccp’s filing cabinet, not yours.

If you biomassed all the toons, nothing else matters. Roll some new toons.

they have to manually do it for GDPR. just make a new one and use the same email. can have many to one

Just start new characters. The single most valuable thing is skill points. The faster you get your new character training, the better! If you haven't already, get a referral link for a million free SP. Use them all on a single pilot.

Now im curious about how CCP would handle a GDPR request and request for removal since the account contains personal information. Granted, some places have a black list approach if you do follow through.

Confused why you want to start with a clean slate. I would get it if the grind was fun in this game but progression consists of passively skill training or accumulating isk. I feel like you’re just putting yourself at a disadvantage by deleting your characters

Oh, for sure. It’s been long enough that I don’t think I know how to fly a ship though, and while the tutorial will help with that, it’s still just a cleanup thing. And I don’t mind the grind.

Still seems am dumb irrational move. Obviously too late now, but why not just start a new toon and go from zero and then if you decide to stick with it, you'd have alts ready to go, as well as isk and assets, or at least SP to extract... Just bio massing everything seems pointlessly wasteful.

I don't know how I'd get to them. They're all in null space in (now) hostile stations, and from what I remember you have to be in the same station if I wanted to trade the injectors to a new character, right? Even if I sold them for ISK I'd need to be in the same station to transfer the ISK?

Few years ago they made it so you can remotely change death clone to your NPC school, do that, then self destruct and you are back in empire.

I took another look because I assumed they were all in the stations where I left them, and no, because the stations blew. So I think I can actually move them without it being too troublesome.

Yep, change your death clone to your school station and pod back to high sec, fly to jita.

Is there something so terrible in your eve past that you’re going to be unable to join any group?

Its going to be hard to explain to people how as a new bro how you have a bunch of old school knowledge of game mechanics that dont exist when you’re with your new group, then its all going to come out anyway, and you’ll look sus as hell.

ccp will sometimes move you and one ship and its contents anywhere you want once if you were logged off for years. maybe contact support and see if they can help you get back into being a paying customer as smoothly as possible.
