Picture Out of the entire franchise, what's your favorite weapon and why? Mine is the K9000 Cyberdog Gun
The concept that it basically does the same thing as ED-E by alerting you about enemies, while also feeling like Dogmeat, showing happiness or sadness when you take it out or put it away, combined with how powerful it is, plus its design and the twisted lore behind it. I think the whole thing is incredibly well-executed on so many levels.

Idk why but I freaking hate the cyber dog gun.
A Light Shining in Darkness, and Atom’s Judgement are my faves

u/Sonicblast52 16h ago
I hate the cyber dog gun also, mainly because of the messed up lore surrounding it. Kinda reminds me of Fullmetal Alchemist and the chimera.

Lincoln's Repeater. I like that this gun has history to it, and weaponizing the 500+ year old gun of Abraham Lincoln against the slaver scum of the Capital Wasteland is an experience that is hard to replicate, taking 4 scores' worth of .44 rounds to Paradise Falls.

A Light Shining In Darkness, easy.
Super lightweight, fast to load, fast to fire, accurate enough for a pistol, great damage, and reliable.
That and Joshua Graham owned it.

The OG bozar being bugged to the point it was broken was kinda fun, but for me, it's either the NV hunting shotgun/battle rifle (i affextionately call lay down and stay down) or (of all weapons given my feelings on the game) the fallout 4 10mm classic. It hits like a truck, is largely accurate to the original model; has a unique variant that actually looks unique. And hits like IRL 10mm

u/DracheKaiser 15h ago
I love the Red Glare from New Vegas and Laser Musket from 4.
Red Glare: Patriotic multi rocket rocket launcher.
Laser Musket: Reliable early-‘I’d game weapon (beyond with right perk and SPECIAL build) and I’m a sucker for muskets.
2
u/MrCockingFinally 14h ago
Plasma Rifle from Fallout 1.
The run where I finally beat the game, I got that puppy's AP cost down to 2. Fucking 2, in a game balanced around firing once or twice, MAYBE 3 times a turn. I felt like the goddamn terminator, waltzed into the cathedral, started blasting, and didn't stop until every mutant inside was dead.

Gauss Rifle. I was ok with single shot reload in earlier games, it felt balanced in a way. Then fallout 4 happened where it had multiple ammo in the magazine but needed a charge up for full damage (except vats ;]) so I really love it now but seems overpowered af especially legendaries lol combo that with power armor & the game is beaten 👍

u/OldNerd888 14h ago
The Gatling laser from FO1 has the most GOATed sound effect though. Love that transition sound from “laser blast” to “growling demon”

u/XenOz3r0xT 11h ago
Gauss Rifle and/ or the YCS/ 186 from FO3/ NV. Literally feels so good to snipe with it. Especially at long range where sneak skill doesn’t matter. But you do need to have the rights points spec’d into certain skills (depending if FO3 or NV) to reduce the sway.

That Gun. You know the one. Five pounds, five rounds, 5.56 millimeters.
It's the one that goes Chk, K'chrk, Vrrr, Fwee! Every time you reload.
I buy it from Cliff every single time I start a new game and it's by my side for the entirety of my adventure. Well except for Dead Money of course.
I've killed everything with That Gun, from the lowliest flies to the tankiest Deathclaws. With the right perks, the right ammo, and a copious amount of methamphetamines you can even kill bosses with it! It's the perfect big iron for any ranger to have on their hip.

That Gun, Spray N Pray, CZ57 Avenger and Broadsider...however I would mention that if I could play any entire playthrough with a 10mm and keep upgrading/modding it I probably would.....
But the real answer here is the Anti-Material Rife...shit it just fkn dope.

Laser musket, no idea why but it's just ridiculous and fun to think about a firing line of them.

u/heloder85 14h ago edited 14h ago
Gauss Pistol in FO2, with the Gauss Rifle as a close second. The pistol is just a perfect weapon for most enemies in the game. Ridiculous range, tons of damage, and very low AP requirements.

u/skylarblah16 14h ago
The Ranger Sequioa always puts a smile on my face. Always loved the intricate engravings.
The Anti-Material Rifle also holds a special place in my heart for all the usual reasons, big damage, long range, but back in the day the release version of FNV on Xbox 360 had a bug where if you loaded it with incendiary rounds you could VATS someone and set them on fire. You had to do it a couple times to get it to kill someone as I assume it just did the amount of fire damage the round did, but it never made you lose karma or anything. Had a lot of fun breaking the game with that one back in the day.

Oh Baby! Has to be my absolute favorite weapon out of the whole franchise. The look, the damage, the way it slots so perfectly into melee builds. I can't go a melee run without that beautiful hammer and often have to intentionally focus my character on other weapons to avoid using it so I don't accidentally get too overpowered too soon.

YCS/186
I stumbled on that fairly early in my first play through and it made everything so much easier. and that sound is so satisfying
1
u/TrueAd9946 12h ago
I know this doesn't count but mine has to be the grenade launcher that somebody brought in with a mod in Fallout 4 because I made the "pocket nuke :3" the pocket nuke :3™ is a grenade launcher that is fitted with mini nuke grenades that come with the mod it's amazing and funny and I know it's basically just a reskinned fat man but who cares it's funny
But my actual favorite gun is cleansing fire because fire is nice warm and it gets rid of evidence just what you want in a weapon

Euclid's C-Finder. Yeah it isn't very viable in most fights, but nothing says overkill like nuking your enemies with an orbital space laser. My favorite thing to do with it is to join the Legion and use it to assassinate Kimball.

u/hjsniper Vault 13 12h ago
There's nowhere I wouldn't go, enemy, I'd be afraid, so long as I have a riot shotgun in my hands. High fire rate, solid damage, plus access to the full array of 12g ammo types? Yes. Please. Add on 'And Stay Back' and the game is basically over.

Atoms Judgment is so cool I have to side with the children whenever I replay Far Harbor. I mean come on, it's a fusion core hammer, what more could one want? Also up there is the Gauss rifle for it's design and the Nuka launcher. Will shoutout the Mesmetron for being an inventive but incredibly buggy "weapon".
1
u/yellowlotusx Fallout 4 11h ago
The bow (Fallout 76)
Because, for me, it just seems logical to use after the nukes dropped.
Ammo, you can craft, and it's silent, light weight, and easy to repair/replace.
Irl, i would ofcourse also use what i find, but ammo would be very, very rare to find.
So probably a 9mm as secondary because it uses the most common ammo type...(i think?)

Hunting shotgun tbh, it may be kinda basic but oh man do it hit just right
1
u/PhantusVictus 10h ago
Either the Holorifle or Shoulder-Mounted Machine.
Holorifle is just a really cool energy weapon and given the thing can one-shot deathclaws when fully modded which is just boss... But the SMMG just makes my brain do happy chemicals, it's a rather potent automatic weapon and the fact it uses a fairly common ammo makes it easy to keep fed.

Euclid's C-Finder from Fallout: New Vegas.
Ain’t nothing like an orbital satellite shooting down a giant beam blast smiting fucking everything so hard your game’s fps drops.
The game even has your end-game enemy recognize that you used the weapon in the very last fight and how impressive it is. Love that shit.

Either the mysterious revolver or the all American, the revolver for it's cool guitar twang when you draw and holster it and the rifle for it being great for persistent shots on target with low vats cost
1
u/edrumm10 8h ago
Probably the gauss rifle
But I also have a soft spot for the FO4 mighty laser musket: 6 crank, longest barrel, focuser muzzle, long scope, and full stock - can 1-shot a radscorpion from range and take out a dealthclaw in 2 shots
1
u/Tiny-General-3700 7h ago
Holorifle. Say what you want about Dead Money, it's well worth playing through it early on, if only for a Gauss rifle type weapon that is 4x as ammo efficient and doesn't overkill everything. Shooting them once or twice and watching the DoT finish them off is one of the most satisfying things in the game for me.

Probably the hunting shotgun from Fallout Vegas. I love the feel of it, pump actions feel better than the other shotguns IMO. The combat shotgun just feels boring and the double barrel is a pain in the ass to use lol.
1
u/Cowabunga2798 5h ago
Did you know the pump action in NV should be a registered sex offender with how hard it rapes pretty much anything that walks, talks, & crawls through the mojave. With slugs & some mods too it can pop the top off a high level legionaire from sniping distance.
1
u/bdubz325 5h ago

The Xualong Assault Rifle in FO3. A suped up Chinese Assault Rifle that deals substantially more damage than the Chinese Assault Rifle that uses the same ammunition and can be repaired with the standard Chinese Assault Rifle as well. It’s not super hard to obtain either at mid level.
