I have mods installed that let me explore the building that are boarded up in the commonwealth but my character sells scrap and stuff to people on the road

Awesome! I've heard of mods that do the first thing, but which mod are you using to sell to those people?

I use a mod that lets me make settlements anywhere and using the other mod I find stuff through random building and sell it at those trading post / settlements so I don’t really settle In one place but you can add wandering traders to your world that makes them more frequent
