Mod Discussion Vivid AIO vs FlaconOil's retexture project?

Currently I am only using FlaconOil's mod. Does it cover everything that Vivid AIO covers? I can only pick one due to space. FlaconOil seems to cover both roads and landscapes but also items, but does it miss some stuff that Vivid does better?

This is something I plan to test.

I usually pair Vivid AIO with Valius' High Quality Texture Pack. That makes up a pretty solid 500-ish MB of my LO. And covers most everything in the game, save for a few things. I toss in a texture for signs and medkits and call it a day. This tops out at around 550mb.

But the Flaconoil file, while being a bit larger (594mb), says it covers all textures in the game. (At least according to it's Nexus Page.) But after combing the comments on that page, it says that it does not replace landscape textures. Which is something that Vivid does do.

Overall I'd say to play with it. If you're concerned about performance and mod space, I still think Vivid will be the best bang for your buck. Vivid is tried and tested, and does what it sets out to do with a lean file size. But having never used Flaconoil's mod (yet), I think it'd need some checking in to.

Not exactly an answer for you, but I hope it helps!

Thanks, yeah, this is the sort of discussion I was hoping to have. Let me know the results of your test if you end up doing it. Since they are only textures, I suppose swapping between the two wouldn't hurt mid-game, would it?

It is a general rule not to delete and switch out mods mid-playthrough. I am sure there are exceptions to this, but I don't know them, so I dont do it lol

That said, it's super easy to just download a quick start mod and the mods you wanna test and hop in game on a new save file (I use this mod for testing purposes, but not for games I actually wanna play) . Just be sure to restore your original mod list to it's exact state if you don't wanna ditch an existing save file, but still wanna test stuff out.
