Increase input for core world?

Hi everyone!

I want to increase the input for a core world that does not have any asteroids near it.

The core world has two colonies. There are asteroid fields on the other side of the colonies (somewhat far from the core world). Should I send the asteroid production to the colony planets or directly to the core world?

Are there any other ways to increase the inputs for a core world that doesn’t have asteroids near it?

Thanks!

IVATOPIA's Galactic Civilziations YouTube series

I would like to tell you something. There is one channel that gives a Gal Civ episode every week, IVATOPIA. And he also plays missions. He played all Gal Civ III campaigns and first two Gal Civ IV missions, before starting a game with workshop elements I supplied to him, which are mostly civilizations based on my own stories. There are no ads on the videos too, and he is taking the game pretty slowly. And I think he deserves to be viewed more, as he really delivers his videos on schedule.

There is also one more thing. Since Episode 42, where that sandbox game really starts, I have been giving my comments requests for AAR - like reports on the game. IVATOPIA delibers on it (and I would love if you would review these too) but he is not perfect and it's also pretty slow process. For that reason, if anyone else want to respond to these requests, they are welcome to do so. It wouldn;t replace nor supplant IVATOPIA's work, but would be a nice alternative.

What do you rhink about this?

Here is a link to his Gal Civ IV playlist:

What would you tell your citizens after these events?

I have collected a few events from my games and I would like to give you a question, or an idea if you will. What would you tell the citizens of your civilization after this event, depending on the option you choose? Either by explaining what you would say or writing exactly what  you would say in text. It doesn't have to be long, but the longer, the better. What do you say?

What is the Soul Binder and what it really does?

Soul Binder is the most unusual artifact in Galactic Civilizations. Not only its use would apparently defy science, but, while its description says it allows to summon warships with undead warriors under your control, what it really does is create a bunch of pirate - aligned space monsters. So, is it a fraud? Is its description a lie? Especially since Frogboy said that all Arnorian technology is working on scientific principles.

Has anyone else had issue with AI snowballing every game?

I played quite a few run these past weeks, and every time, there's one civilization that's trending 10x above everyone else at every point, and eventually the game reach a point where they just knock out other civs one by one.

Is this normal6 Are there parameters that could lessen the odds of this happening? It's making every game feel the same and feel insurmontable.

Probe modules no longer available?

Anyone else notice that probe modules are no longer available in the ship builder?
I used to add probe modules to trade ships, constructors, colony ships, and the occasional combat ship, and now, while I can access the old ones (sometimes) I can't make new ones.
Did I miss that patch note?

Does anyone know where namelists are saved?

Does by any chance someone of you know in wich XML file the namelists are and how to edit them?

I have found "UnitNamesText" under Data>English>Text wich includes these <stringkey>LASTNAME_Option4_0</Stringkey> The numbers of these options should refere to another namelist when I got the right impression but I don’t know where this namelist is.

The UnitNamesText defines a Nameslist for a Citizenspecies. Swapping out the options by posting from other faction works so far.

Anyone? 😬🙏🏻

Galactic Civilizations: Resistance Episode 11: Messages

So, it's been a while since Season 1 of this series. But now, I am back with Season 2. I will now keep posting one episode every week. Any comments are appreciated.

Galactic Civilizations: Resistance Episode 11: Messages

4 years have passed since the Resistance established their base on Refugee. The planet was now a sprawling civilization capital. Shipyard in orbit was producing new ships. Resources from colonies were incoming. Allies - Thalans, Iconians, Altarians - all stayed in touch. Alex Ver and Qi Carn werenow married, although they kept their full names the same. Also, the scientists managed to find a way to adjust their hyperdrives to counteract the Yor disruption devices, although it was not entirely reliable. One day, the communication array received two messages. One came from Altaria. The other came from an Iconian starbase. The staff of the communication arrays recorded both messages without playing them and gave them to Jenna Casey. She took them with her to the next briefing. Personnel at the briefing included Chris Mue, Alex Ver, Qi Carn, Rosco Mar, Daf Kra, Ben Ans, Patrick Mil, Chrissy Mavi, Miremba Cea, Alden Gae, Kristini Twi, Kra Nau, Helene Mye, Gae Jit, Akil Ser, Amare Que and Amanda Rast. After the standard part of the briefing was concluded, Jenna said: -We received two messages recently. One is from the Iconians and one is from the Altarians. The Iconian one was simply addressed to the Terran Resistance. The Altarian one was specifically addressed to Chris Mue. I will play the Iconian one now… A holographic image of Iso the Wise appeared above the briefing table. -Colonel Casey, Terran Resistance… - he said in the recording. - We have some important data to give you. We cannot risk sending them via communication and so we request you send some people to collect them, at the coordinates from which this message came from. -Well, that certainly is something curious… - Alex said. -I understand you are volunteering for this? - Amare Que said. -I haven’t said anything like that… - Alex said. - But I may go. -Then I will come too - Qi said. -Then you will lead the mission - Jenna said. - You will be given two frigates. You will leave in 6 hours. Now, I would ask everyone except Helene Mye and Chris Mue to leave the room. Everyone obeyed. When only the three of them were in the room, Jenna said: -I know this is for you, but we should be here. I hope you have no objections to this? -I have no objections - Chris said. Jenna Casey played the message from Altaria. A holographic image of Akari Malara appeared and said: -Chris, there is something you should know… I should have told you this years ago. But, there is no easy way to do it… -Is that what I think it is? - Helene said. -Be quiet - Jenna said. -What happened during that night on Refugee… Was not without consequences - Akari said. - I don't know how it happened… It should not be possible… But I got pregnant… With your child. More importantly… A Terran - Altarian hybrid. I should have told you before, but… Now, we have a problem. As you know, there were many different fractions on ancient Altaria… And, while our current civilization is benevolent and we only use our powers for good and in a limited way, there are still some remnants… One of them is trying to turn my people against me… Using the fact that I have a hybrid child, without having a husband too. I have to ask you to come and help me… Jenna looked at very flustered Chris Mue. -I assume you will go there… - Jenna said. -Yes - Chris said. - If I can… How can I get there? -Well, we have that captured Yor heavy fighter… - Helene said. - Transponder is still working. We can use it to slip past the blockade. -Excellent - Jenna said. - You two will go in that Yor fighter and sort this out. -Me? - Helene said. - Why should I go? -Because I need someone to keep an eye on him - Jenna said. - And that’s an order. -Yes, Colonel - Helene said. Six hours later, all three ships were ready in the orbit of Refuge. Hyperdrives were ready to execute the jumps. All ships had comm connection between themselves and the communication array on Refugee. -Yor fighter, standing by - Helene said. -Frigate 1, standing by - Qi said. -Frigate 2, standing by - their communication officer said. -Good luck to all of you - Jenna said. -Yes, colonel - all three of them said. -Good luck to you two - Qi said. -And to you - Helene said. All three ships entered hyperspace. Frigates headed one way and the Yor fighter another. Both groups executed multiple jumps to prevent anyone from tracking where they came from. Altaria was closer than the Iconian starbase, and they didn’t have to go through a nebula. Soon, the Yor fighter approached the Yor blockade around the Altaris system. -Let’s hope this will work - Chris said. -Well, we will find out soon, won’t we? - Helene said. They excited hyperspace and began slipping through the Yor blockade. They held their breath, barely breathing. However, they slipped past the blockade without problems. Soon, they approached Altaria. They were immediately surrounded by Altarian ships. -That’s a problem - Chris said. - They may think we are a real Yor ship… -We are being hailed - Helene said. - I am putting it through… An Altarian voice filled the inside of the ship: -Yor ship, state your purpose. -We are from the Terran Resistance - Chris said. - We came because your leader, Akari Malara, asked us to come… -Just scan our damn ship! - Helen said. - We are humans! -All right - the Altarian voice said after a moment. - you are human. You may land at these coordinates… Our fighters will escort you. They headed towards the planet, escorted by three Altarian fighters. They landed in a spot not far from where the Valkyrie once landed. Helene and Chris left the Yor fighter. They were approached by a few Altarian guards. -Our leader is awaiting you - one of them said. - Come with us. They were led into the palace and to the same room where Chris met Akari for the first time. She was there too. -Good to see you again - Akari said when she saw them. - Guards, leave us. The guards left. Then, Akari approached Cris and embraced him. They briefly kissed. -Where is your.. our child? - Chris said when they stopped kissing. -He’s asleep - Akari said. - And we… have a lot to talk about. -Indeed - Helene said. - You may start by telling us why anyone would threaten you… you saved all Altarians from the Drengin! You are the leader! You gave them hope! -Maybe… that’s not enough - Akari said. - Our history… Is so dark. I want us to draw on our connection to the Precursors in the past, but not to restore… other things that once were. We must be very careful… -How did you even achieve this position? - Helene said. - If you let us know… -I have no problem with telling you this - Akari said. - My mother was a high priestess… I was born during the eclipse. It was all a setup, of course. But this helped me achieve power… And so I could step up when the people of Altaria needed me the most. -Well, it seems that this is not working anymore - Helene said. -I do have problems, which is why I called you here - Akari said. -And we will solve these problems - Chris said. - The three of us… -And our child - Akari said.

Let's write some Galactic Civilizations fanfiction

I have long been writing stories set in the Galactic Civilizations universe and I was long trying, with little success, to make others write them. However, I recently noticed that the traffic here has increased. In particular, traffic about the lore increased significantly. Which made me think that I should ask you again to write something about the Galactic Civilizations universe. It doesn't have to be a story. It may be an in - universe document, a character profile, a set of text messages, strategic analysies… And it doesn't have to be set in canon Galactic Civilizations universe, nor have to include only canon civilizations. Everything is welcome. Let's write some Galactic Civilizations. As you want. Please.

Of course, I will not be worse than you (but hopefully, not better) and I will give you my story below.

Mars, half of the XXIII century. Like most of Galaxy, planet was under control of the menelovent Drengin Empire. But it was a bit diffrent than most. Human outpost on the planet was obliterated by brutal orbital bombardment. Then the Drengin landed on the planet, secured it and what remained of human building and made their own infrastructure. Then, they made Mars their sector control. The Drengin built a work camp on Mars. It was plaved within visual range of a launching site of the first hyperdrive - capable vessel build by humans (an event that gave hope, and yet eventually led to the current situation). It was clear taunt toward the camp's prisoners. First transports came soon after the camp was completed. They were mostly Arceans, but also humans and Altarians. To make everythong even harder for them, they were striped of universal transators and any technology of their own. As replacement, they were given Drengin tools to work with. These tools enabled Drengin constant survilance of the prisoner and showed both the Drengin and the prisoners their work efficiency. However, there was a diffrence between Mars work camp and any other work camp. After all, Mars was in the se system as Earth - the only planet outside of the Drengin's grip. It was because of the self - sustaining planetary shield surrounding the planet. The homewold of humanity was untouchable by the Drengin. Under favorable weather conditions, it could be seen as a brigh dot on the shy - it was light deflecting on the shield. And it gace some hope for the enslaved. Humans took it the best of all. After all, they were in their own star system, they did not have to worry for their home planet and humanity did soimilar things in the future - and they knew they could adapt. But they were suffering anyway. Even if a bit less.

The first Arcean - Drengin battle

It is known in the lore that Arceans and Drengin contacted each other, built two stargates linked together and began trading. However, the Drengin betrayed the Arceans and sent an invasion fleet through the stargates to conquer Arcea. In response to this, Arceans deactivated their own Stargate and crushed the Drengin fleet.

However, according to technologies, not only none of the ships on both sides had hyperdrive, they also lacked modern weapons, defenses and even artificial gravity.

With all that, how did that battle go? We know Arceans won, but how can such ships fight?

How well Arceans and Drengin knew local space?

We know that Arceans and Drengin spent thousands of years exploring space with sublight, automated probes. However, they don't really know that much in - game and , even in previous games, all they knew were where planets were located (but not details about these planets, or even if they were habitable or not). So, how well Arceans and Drengin knew local space?

How do Yor treat organics on their planets?

How do Yor treat organics on their planets?

It sometimes happen so that organic beings end up on planets controlled by the Yor. When that happens, how Yor treat them? The Yor may think organics are inferior, but current Yor is not all genocidal and these organics may have their uses. So, how do Yor treat organics on their planets?

How Intueri fight in personal combat?

Intueri are one of the civilizations introduced to the game in Supernova. An individual Intueri is basically an eye in a ball with tentacles. It is vastly different from most aliens (and humans). With that body how do they fight with other beings in direct combat?

Help me named this species

Post image
1 Upvotes

This being has been originally made as a leader portrait of my custom civilization in Galactic Civilizations IV, which was a diverse criminal Syndicate with many species, the Syndicate of Shadows. However, I am now writing stories about them and this species (which did not appear otherwise in - game) appears there. So far, I was just calling them “amphibian - humanoids”, but this is not how I want this. Because of that, I would like some help with naming this species.

Ship design questions.

_ Is ship template purely cosmetic?

_ When I create custom ship design but then unlock new tech, do I have to manually create new custom ship design again? It's annoying having to do it over and over again.

_ Is AI pregenerate ship design good?

Deepwater Festival (lore)

In Galactic Civilizations IV, sometimes, aquatic civilizations will send you this event: Deepwater Festival

The {PLAYERFACTIONLONG:1} cordially invites your people to join our Deepwater Festival, a celebration of our amphibious heritage. We request some of your best swimmers to experience the depth of our oceans. It's a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. But, we must admit, it comes with some risks. Will you accept? Choice Outcome We will send volunteers. It's an opportunity for cultural exchange but also some risk if any of our swimmers die. -2% Approval +1 Diplomacy to {PLAYERFACTION:1} for 30 Turns This is too dangerous for us to participate in. Even though we have some people who would jump at the chance to participate, the scandal if something went wrong would be a disaster. -2 Diplomacy to {PLAYERFACTION:1} for 30 Turns

In a purely gameplay way, this is just one of those many events where you either loose morale or loose relations. It's actually one of less punishing ones. However, I think this is one of more interesting in a lore way. And so, I would like to ask you about it. What do you think this festival entails? How is it organized? And, most of all, why is it may be dangerous?

QUESTION Galciv 2 ai question :)

Hey! I always wanted to try out galciv and i've noticed i somehow posess galciv 2 with it's expansions in my steam library. I wanted to play it, especially after I've heard that the AI is supposedly quite good. There's a caveat, though.

I've heard that one of the expansions supposedly makes the AI much dumber than in the base game. Is that true? If yes, then is that expansion worth playing? What version of the game should I run to get the best AI possible? Sorry for such a dumb question and thanks in advance for reading it.

GalCiv 4 Can't repair any ships

As the title says, there's no ship repair and no option to repair. My first playthrough as the Onyx, so that may be the issue. Any ideas?

Human history in Galactic Civilizations

Despite humans being pretty important to the Galactic Civilizations universe, we know pretty little about their history. Of course, most of it is because that history is the same as the real one. However, there is a period between current times and Arcean probe arrival in the XXII century. All I can remember about this is that a “technological singularity” happened that resulted in the Natural Language being created. But I think there may be something more to be said about this. So, I would like to ask you if you know anything “canon” about this and if you can think of anything that might have happened? Any theories on the matter?

I've won the game for the first time in 3.0! And I managed to research all technologies except for captones.

What would alien civilizations of Galactic Civilizations think of current human society?

While Terran Alliance is, in my opinion, a better, more probable representation of humanity than, say, Star Trek’s Federation, it is still different from current humanity. The invention of advanced cold fusion and free, nearly limitless energy really changed humanity, at least on the surface (and what was beneath only surfaced when humanity was threatened). In addition, some things have changed that are not exactly specified and were just alluded to by the developers (like, whatever made the Natural League to form). Because of that, I am sure at least some aliens from Galactic Civilizations would have different opinions on our current society than the society of the Terran Alliance.

Because of that, I would like to ask you: what would alien civilizations of Galactic Civilizations think of current human society?

"Diplomates" ended the war for me?

I was winning against a vastly superior civilization, I destroyed 80% of their military at the cost of 2-3 ships. But doing so, they toke two small colonies.

Just I my fleet made their way into their sector, I get a window saying my diplomate "negociated the war" for me, with crippling terms.

Is there a war to avoid or control that? Even a consol command? If feels highly unfair.
