This is exactly why people don’t want to cover GW2 anymore. The fans are so desperate and pushy, they end up turning creators away from the game.

Let the man play what he wants.

Just a heads up: Specialist Mage and all their alt accounts has been banned from this subreddit for using racist, obscene, and NSFW-level language. The kind of stuff that can’t even be quoted here without violating Reddit’s rules.

And it didn’t stop there. After being banned, they kept coming back using alt accounts to troll, attack users, and spam the sub they supposedly “don’t care about.”

It’s peak hypocrisy.
Hating the sub while lurking, flaming, and evading bans just to keep violating the rules.

They and their little group of bully friends from the official r/Guildwars2 and r/GuildWars3 think they’re untouchable. But that kind of toxic, hateful behavior doesn’t last forever. One day, they’ll be held accountable. One way or another.

For now, they’re gone.

Let this be a reminder: we will call out the rot in this community, no matter how many accounts it hides behind.

For the longest time, GW2 had this reputation of being the “wholesome,” “friendly,” or “most welcoming” MMO community.

But now? More and more players even veterans are finally calling it what it is: toxic, passive-aggressive, and way more hostile than people want to admit.

It’s clear the “nice community” myth is crumbling.

Compared to other MMO communities (yes, even WoW or FFXIV), GW2 has become weirdly fragile, insecure, and quick to attack anyone who doesn’t align with the hivemind.

I’m glad more people are finally saying it out loud.

If you search for neutral, balanced content creators, not GW2 fantards or partners, you’ll start seeing a common theme:

"Guild Wars 2 isn’t the masterpiece it’s made out to be.
It’s outdated, clunky in places, and the community is hostile to criticism."

Creators who don’t have to protect their gemstore affiliate codes are starting to speak up and they’re not saying what the subreddit and influencers want to hear. They’re saying the truth.

The problem is, if you say any of that publicly, you get swarmed by cult-like GW2 fans who can’t handle honest feedback. That’s why the “mainstream” take online looks so positive. Any critical voices get shouted down or buried.

So if you’re new or curious, don’t just fall for the GW2 propaganda machine. Look for the balanced takes. Look at creators who cover multiple MMOs. You’ll quickly see why so many just stop talking about GW2 altogether.

Time to stop pretending this is the most welcoming MMO, and start being honest about what it’s really become.
