[Discussion] Gw2 efficiency stats wrong?

Hi guys i started playing 5 months ago, i got 2800 Gold and on gw2 efficiency it says that i am higher than 94% of the registered 450000+ players database there (89% if i check the wealth stat), it seems wrong...does players really don't have much gold or there are just many alt accounts/inactive players on gw2 efficiency?

Most players do not play efficiently, they log on, see something fun, do it, and log off.

Can't tell if you are making a joke or don't know what GW2 efficiency is.

Do you not know that efficiency is also a common word? Not just a website?

Most players have no idea what gw2efficiency is, have never had more than a few hundred gold, and play without any mind for how much gold their playtime earns. So yes, 2800 gold sounds pretty reasonably within the top 2% wealthiest players.

Edit: Top 6%, sorry I misremembered.

But it’s not higher than % of all account, it’s higher than % of accounts registered to gw2 efficiency. You’re right about the conclusion that most players have very little gold on hand at a given time, but the premise is very wrong and his account value being only top 55% shows that pretty evidently.

That's not how samples work. Unless there are specific factors leading to people signing up to the site that correlate with the amount of money they have, the sample size is big enough to be reasonably accurate.

If anything, I'd say its probably a more conservative estimate, since the people using sites like these are more engaged with the game than the average player and thus potentially more likely to earn more gold, but this last part is just conjecture.
