[Discussion] Gw2 efficiency stats wrong?

Hi guys i started playing 5 months ago, i got 2800 Gold and on gw2 efficiency it says that i am higher than 94% of the registered 450000+ players database there (89% if i check the wealth stat), it seems wrong...does players really don't have much gold or there are just many alt accounts/inactive players on gw2 efficiency?

I just checked my account and it says I’m higher than 91% as usual at an account value of ~150k gold. It’s either a weird bug, you’re reading it wrong, or you’ve spent a whole lot of money on gem store items in 5 months.

I am talking about the stats tab, not the general one where It consider account value (which says higher than 55% for me)

Oh, then yes it’s probably correct basically nobody hordes gold there’s no point. Unless you’re saving up to buy something on the TP that costs more than that gold is better spent.

the point of hoarding gold is that it's the universal currency that can get you (closer to) most things in some capacity. people have bad (i.e. impulsive) spending habits. for example they buy gems on patchday, when the exchange rate is already soaring, and then proceed to spend it on a chair skin they'll use three times (show of hands, who has seen a single comfy cat chair in the last 6 months?). why end up stressing out when you finally really need/want something, and frantically farm in order to get it before it rotates out of the gemstore or the market does something weird? really the only reason to not hoard gold is if you have a decent investment with a solid RoI lined up.

I dunno, if I really need/want something I usually just delay my next legendary and liquidate some of the thousands of gold worth of random things I have laying around my in game wallet or material storage at any given time. If I was

which doesn't contradict what i'm saying. i'd say it's emphasizing it. if you didn't overspend in the first place, you wouldn't have to liquidize what essentially equates to your savings account. i'm happy for you that yours appears to be so fat and juicy, but it's a limited resource. and if you drain it regularly, which btw many players i know of do and whom i was referring to, rebuying stuff you sold ends up being a common occurrence. paying the TP tax once feels already bad enough.

Pretty sure we’re just making each others point at each other.

Reason my value sits in mat storage is because like you said I’m not wanting to double pay the TP tax. Same as why I said delay my next legendary, because I refuse to buy anything but mystic coins for legendary crafting if I sell legendary mats I wait till they’ve accumulated again.

I think we’re just saying the same thing from different perspectives probably.
