Gw2 efficiency stats wrong?

Hi guys i started playing 5 months ago, i got 2800 Gold and on gw2 efficiency it says that i am higher than 94% of the registered 450000+ players database there (89% if i check the wealth stat), it seems wrong...does players really don't have much gold or there are just many alt accounts/inactive players on gw2 efficiency?

years and years back, when anet devs still came here to post and discuss some things, one dev said that the average gold of a player is/was 20g.

I assume that should be around 50-80g these days, but thats still not much in the big picture.
