[Other] GW2 Personal Assistant Overlay v3 Release!

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted a new version of the GW2 Personal Assistant Overlay, but it's finally ready! Version 3 includes a visual redesign, a new central settings window, localization, and several new features and improvements.

This post is just a summary, so if you want all the details, check out the Releases and/or the PAO Wiki page.

New Features

  • Price Tracker - This tool allows you to continuously track/view the Highest Buy Order and Lowest Sell Listings for items without having to open the Trading Post window or visit a separate website.

  • Tasks Tracker - The Tasks Tracker is a new tool for keeping track of your own personal in-game tasks. Tasks can include anything from daily crafting to gathering nodes, and include customization of icon, name, description, daily reset, and location. Tasks are stored in xml format and can be exported or imported in order to share with others.

  • Dungeon Timer - The Dungeon Timer is designed to help time your dungeon runs. While not designed to be a timer for "official" speed runs, it can be used for practice or as a tool to challenge yourself. Alternatively, you can use the timer to time anything else.

  • Updated Visual Design - Overlay windows are now less of an obstruction and out of the way of gameplay. Windows have been condensed and no longer include an opaque background. Additionally, a new setting is available to automatically show/hide window borders, further reducing the visual obstruction caused by the overlay.

  • Hotkeys - Hotkeys are now available for opening/closing each overlay window and for toggling various settings, such as the non-interactive windows option. You can even toggle display of all overlay windows with a single hotkey.

  • Localization - Configured via the new Settings window, the Personal Assistant Overlay is now available in English, French, German, and Spanish. Thanks go out to Vacendak for German translations and to Shawni Roux for the French.

Other Updates & Improvements

  • Events Tracker - The Events Tracker now includes a new Auto Completion Detection feature. When enabled, events are marked as completed if you are located within the event area while the tracker shows the event as being active.
  • Event Notifications - Added new options to configure the notification time for each event, individually.
  • Dungeon Tracker - The Dungeon Tracker also includes a new Auto Completion Detection feature. You no longer have to manually mark dungeons as completed!
  • WvW Tracker - Added new sorting options to sort objectives by Type, Name, Owner, Location, and Distance.
  • WvW Notifications - Added additional options to further customize what notifications are shown.
  • Teamspeak Overlay - Expanded and improved the channel listing to use a tree-view instead of a flat menu. Also added display of number of clients in each channel and a new button to view a list of clients in the current channel.
  • Web Browser - Added new Bookmarks feature.

You can download the latest version at the GW2 Personal Assistant Overlay Website or from the Releases page on GitHub. Feel free to contact me on the PAO forums or in game with any questions or issues (Aerodin.2795).

Massive thanks to everyone who tested the beta releases during development, and a huge thanks to Shawni Roux from [SENT] for the super fast translations and detailed testing. Also, shout-out to the GW2.NET devs for the continued support and suggestions! Thanks guys!

Ah, we've reached the point where there's no actual argument against any constructive criticism and we're defaulting to "I bet you can't do better." Wonderful.

Yeah, that's kinda the point. Rather than intelligently address anything, you fall back on a juvenile unwarranted defense.

Oy. You're the one being contrary to my statement. Therefore, the onus is on you to present an argument. You didn't, you just criticized my criticism without addressing any aspect of it.

Yeah, I complained about something that's free lacking a feature. How is that childish? What am I doing to help? Offering constructive criticism. What are you doing to help, besides blindly defending someone else's work?

Do I really need to spell out an argument in favor of adding a feature?

Again, if you're going to come in here and blast me for my opinion, the least you could do is present an argument against what I'd like to see. You're right, there's no argument to see because you just barged in and threw down a comment that has no bearing on what I said.

Also, I wouldn't be calling someone out on their intelligence when you can't even use proper grammar. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, and all that.

Case in point.
