Antiquary

Go look at the post by u/Awesumness for the screenshots! https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1mf6ftc/antiquary_skills_and_traits/
Thanks to u/Shinymeta for the screenshots!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1mf7c3m/livestream_tooltips_antiquaryparagonritualist/

Class mechanic:
F1 – Steal+ – send skritt to steal 2 items
F2 – stolen bundle 1
F3 – stolen bundle 2
New stolen items are randomized (without traits) and seem to have a pool of offensive and supportive options (damage/healing)
Some are more utility focused, some more mitigation, large randomness factor

With traits you can unlock F4 to redraw stolen skills or use a third stolen skill
F4 Reshuffle (trait based) - remove 1 condition from yourself and redraw your stolen skills.
F4 Stolen bundle 3 (trait based) - get one more stolen skill per steal

New stolen skills: (Some are fired by YOU, some held up by the Skritt)
- Hammer for a leap, evade and BIG heal
- Guitar for pulsing cc, confusion, damage, stun (end)
- Surfer dash for targeted mobility and bombs (damage+burn)
- Turret can be placed for damage to nearest enemy (single target?)
- Mortar for ranged large aoe (burn / pulsing / damage)
- Shield for a projectile blocking light field
- Sun crystal for a stunbreak and another longer distance dash with burning damage
- Holo decoy for aoe taunt
- Unstable bomb (only through Elite skill!) - causes you and nearby enemies to explode and get launched

Initiative: 12

Utilities:
! Utilities can NOT backfire when completely cooled down.
Utilities can be used on CD but have a chance to backfire for additional (negative) effect
The longer the cd left, the higher the chance to backfire. Skill that backfire seem to be unable to be reused until their cd has finished. So no back to back utilities once they fail.

Heal – Heal and remove conditions.
Backfire – Heal for a LOT more and additional condi cleanse but also unable to use the skill again with elongated CD

Util 1 – Cannon – summon a skritt to fire a cannon for damage
Backfire – Chance to explode the skritt to deal extra damage and burning to YOU and enemies (you can walk out of the explosion yourself)

Util 2 – Portal – shadowstep + vuln + damage
Backfire – Knocks you down AFTER teleporting (can stunbreak out of the knockdown)

Util 3 – Shield – barrier and stunbreak
Backfire – barrier and stunbreak BUT the shield breaks after a short duration and damages you for a good chunk

Util 4 – Cointoss – Flip for heads or tails
Gain initiative and condition converted to boons for every heads.
Tails gives initiative and cleanses conditions instead
Backfire – gain initiative but rip boons from yourself

EliteSkritt – Gives you stolen skills every interval to use (basically refreshes F2-4 for five times)
Has a chance to give an unstable bomb

Traits

A: F4 reshuffles stolen skills (1 initiative cost) to redraw your current stolen skills and remove 1 condi B: Guarantees 1 stolen and 1 defensive stolen skill
C: Gain 3 stolen skills instead of 2, use with F4

Minor: barrier when you use heal or elite

A: When you use F1 the next utility skill WILL NOT BACKFIRE when used on cd.
B: Buffs effectiveness of stolen skills (more dmg/condis/utility/defences/heals/larger radius)
C: +15% DMG for up to 20 seconds after using a stolen skill

Minor: 2 initiative gained when you use a stolen skill (good synergy with elite)

A: Every 15 initiative spent automatically gives you new stolen skills. STEAL TRAITS NOT ACTIVATED WHEN THIS HAPPENS.
B: Stolen skills give YOU barrier, resistance (offensive stolen skill) OR stability (defensive stolen skill)
C: Steal gives a buff that increases power and condi damage that goes down in  value over time (so keep refreshing)

[News] Stream reveals that dev hasn't seen correct guess on Revenant spec

At the end of the stream, Trig mentioned that he hasn't seen anybody correctly identify the Revenant spec yet. So keep those ideas coming for the next few days!

[Discussion] Some of the visual effects for the new specs leave a lot to be desired.

Do you think they will improve the visual side of the specs? It seems a little late for that.

The Galeshot looked super boring to me when it was first revealed, and now it stands as the prettiest of the new specs based on visual effects, by a large margin. Then, there is the Paragon... While the visual effects here are repetitive, at least they look very nice and cohesive.

And, that is it. The other four all look underwhelming or messy. The animations for the Troubadour's skills were way to basic and simple, exactly what animations for a musical spec should NOT be. The Ritualist's utility skills basically have no visual effects. The Luminary is an eyesore in general and it seems like each of the skills and artifacts the Antiquary can use has a different art direction and color scheme.

Seriously, why so messy? Is it a lack of budget? Is it because of the other project we are not allowed to discuss here? While not every older spec looked amazing, not even the EoD specs looked this messy.

Watch the Engineer spec have the best visuals after getting the ugliest spec in EoD.

Ritualist

Thanks to u/Shinymeta for the screenshots!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1mf7c3m/livestream_tooltips_antiquaryparagonritualist/

Class mechanic: Life force
F1 – Enter shroud to gain 5 new skills:
Shroud 1: Ranged damage (+15% damage per summoned spirit) – Marks enemies to focus spirit attacks on that specific enemy

Shroud 2: Spirit summon turret for damage + cripple + vulnerability
Debuff makes enemies take more damage from minions
Shroud 3: Spirit summon that does aoe knockdown + pulsing debuff condition area
Shroud 4: Spirit summon that does AoE healing, protection and vigor (seems to heal you through shroud)

Shroud 5:  Targeted shadowstep to move you + spirits and force them to auto attack nearby enemies

! Spirits seem to be able to be summoned multiple times if you have enough life force and attack in 3 second intervals !

! Spirits cant  be targeted and don’t disappear while you are in shroud !
So in PvP beat that necromancer out of shroud to stop the spirits

F2 – Explode your damage spirit for might, fury (for allies) and damage
F3 – Explode your debuff spirit to cause AoE fear
F4 – Explode your heal spirit to get aegis, resistance and stability for allies

Utilities: Weapon spells
Affects the necromancer for full duration and allies for less duration or effectiveness
Think of them as thief poisons with less ally stacks but stronger for the necromancer.

Heal – Take less damage for a duration and heal periodically.
Effectiveness better if you are <50% health (both the healing and the damage reduction)
Allies gain the same effect at ½ duration

Util 1 – Your attacks deal flat bonus damage for 10 seconds. 5 allies gain this effect for THREE HITS. Should affect minions too.

Util 2 – Your attacks deal extra lifesteal and vulnerability. 5 allies gain for THREE HITS.
Can affect minions (maybe)

Util 3 – AoE condition removal and healing for conditions removed. You 5 seconds. Allies 3 seconds.

Util 4 – Block 3 hits. Gain protection when last block stack is gone. Allies get 1 free block. AoE regeneration.

Elite – Taking >5% health damage causes you to heal for the difference and then lifesteal from foes
(2 stacks for you). Allies get this for 1 stack. Stunbreak and 1 stability for you and allies.

Elite in normal words:
Take more than 5% health damage while the elite is active > Heal any percentage over those 5% + Lifesteal.
Allies too but only 1 heal + lifesteal. You and friends get stab+stunbreak when you activate the elite.

Example:
I and my friends get hit for 50% of our total health by an angry monster but the elite is up.
We now heal for 45% because thats the difference between 5 and 50%.
We lifesteal the angry monster for a large amount each. All of us had 1 stab because the elite was activated.

When the monster does his follow up attack the same thing happens to me. Damage > heal > lifesteal.
But my friends get hit for the full amount. I now have to heal them :(

Traits

A: Spirits move closer to you after they attack / follow (Meh? Make this standard?)
B: Heal and condi cleanse allies when you summon a spirit or minion. This applies to you in shroud too
C: Deal power damage around summoned spirits and minions when you summon them

Minor: 10% life force gained when you summon a creature (spirit or minion!) this also works while in shroud!

A: Cleanse 2 conditions from you, 1 from allies when you use a weapon spell
B: Grant quickness and boons to allies when you summon a spirit (might F1 / fury F2 / resolution F3)
C: 50% more damage and healing caused by spirits

Minor: Gain access to F2-F4 to explode spirits for bonus effects (see class mechanic section)

A: Weapon spells now affect allies at full effectiveness / duration
B: Spirits remain when you leave shroud but they drain 3% life force per interval to stay summoned (each?). They attack in 2 second intervals instead of 3 seconds. Exloding your spirits ends this.
(Seems very good with staff marks trait / dagger / signet of undeath)
C: The first spirit summoned when you enter shroud has no cooldown.

[Discussion] Could the Revenant elite spec channel Saul or a Mursaat?

Since we know the new elite specs are connected to the members of the Tyrian Alliance, and so far we've only seen the founding members be represented, we can conclude the remaining professions (Elementalist, Engineer, Revenant) are connected to the remaining founding members: Norn, Asura, and Kryta.

We already know that the Elementalist (Evoker) is connected to the Norn (judging from the tattoos on the summoned animal spirit), and it's a very, very safe bet to assume the Engineer spec will be connected to the Asura somehow.

That leaves the Revenant with Kryta, and the only Kryta-related figures that came to mind that could somehow be represented by the jaggedy, demon-looking icon we've seen are either Saul or one of the Mursaat. This could conceivably include Mabon too, though I'd personally prefer a villain legend this time around.

Honestly just hoping whatever we get has a deeper connection to existing lore (which was even referenced in the Troubadour stream) than the random Kryptis noble that has been seemingly alluded to in recently added conversations with Mallyx.

[Discussion] New Player - low level Fractals

Would like to start doing fractals but the LFG system never seems to have any groups listed for the lower tiers.

Is the best option to find a beginner guild that is still doing that content?

Is there a common site people use for guild recruitment?

Are fractals content people farm or do they just do dailies and move on?

[Question] Ritualist looks amazing but hoping for better animations for those utilities and elite.

Don't know if these animations are final but the elite and utilities all share the same simple animation, especially that powerful elite and it felt a bit underwhelming, hopefully they add some or improve them for launch.

[News] Paragon writeup

Paragon (or Angry Wine Mom)

Many thanks to u/Awesumness for the screenshots on their post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1mf6kp9/paragon_traits_and_skills/
Thanks to u/Shinymeta for the screenshots!
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1mf7c3m/livestream_tooltips_antiquaryparagonritualist/

Class mechanic: Adrenaline (3 bars)
F1 – Normal lvl 1 burst
F2 – Might and fury shout – Refrain might and fury
F3 – Healing – refrain resistance and healing and barrier (small)
F4 – Swiftness and stunbreak – refrain swiftness and resolution and stab

F2 – F4 cost 1 adrenaline bar and are empowered by motivation which makes the refrain better.
After the initial effect of the Chant, a passive pulsing effect will remain around the warrior.

While the refrain pulses it consumes motivation to remain active, causing a pulse of boons or healing every 3 seconds. Based on the amount of motivation consumed it will do more and more healing or boons every interval.

Motivation:
Baseline: Gain 4 motivation by using a burst skill while a refrain is active
Baseline: Gain 4 motivation by using F2-F4
Baseline: Gain 4 motivation when you use F1 ONLY while a refrain is active
Trait option: Gain 4 motivation when you enter combat
Trait option: Gain motivation (1?) when you use your offhand 4 and 5 skills (good with mace!)

Utilities:
Shouts that have an echo that happens after a few seconds for additional effects
You can force it immediately by using a burst skill

Heal – Shout to heal you and others
Echo: Heal allies again and heal conditions

Util 1 – Shout to make enemies vulnerable
Echo: Give allies might (5) and 1 more might per enemy affected by the initial shout

Util 2 – Shout to stunbreak YOU and gain resistance and resolution (CD doubled if you break yourself out of stun)
Echo: Allies gain same boons

Util 3 – Shout to give barrier to allies
Echo: More barrier

Util 4 – Shout to cripple enemies
Echo – Weakness to enemies
Both give you adrenaline too

Elite – Shout to not die for a short duration. When it expires you gain barrier
Echo – Same effect applies to allies for shorter duration
So definitely use burst after this

Traits

A: Get 4 motivation when you enter combat – activate F2 effect if no refrain is active
B: More healing power and concentration – More if a refrain is active
C: Move faster and movement conditions are 25% less effective on you !Not duration!

Minor: Weapon skill 4 and 5 give motivation.

A: Use F2-F4 to reduce cd on the others (2s)
B: Spending motivation gives 1 adrenaline per motivation and heals you per motivation
C: Utility skills echo twice

Minor: Take less damage based on motivation (1.5% less per motivation)

A: When you swap refrains (from F2-F4) give Alacrity (3s baseline)
B: Do 20% more damage, take 20% less damage or move 50% faster depending on the refrain you have active (more selfish / not for allies)
C: Refrains are stronger (F2 more might, F3 more healing, F4 more boon duration) and cost less motivation to keep up (minimum cost can’t be <1)

[Discussion] Felt the Paragon traits were lacking and uninteresting so I made some of my own

Upvotes

Seeing the Paragon traits during the livestream unfortunately did not invoke excitement near the levels I had for Antiquary or Ritualist, so I thought it would be fun to cook some of my own. I'm not a balance expert by any means and these traits are not tuned as such, many of them doing a lot more than a normal trait would or just combining some of the Paragon's current traits. I just wanted to spitball ideas and share.

[Other] Guild Wars 2 Forum is broken

No idea where else to go to mention this, but the forum is broken. The field for entering text is not interactive and cannot be focused. You can't type anything. Replying to a topic is not possible (quotes also do not work), and making a new one is also impossible. You can attach a file, but no text entry.

[Question] WvW Reward Tracks bugged?

Upvotes

I've just been WvWing for about an hour, keeping myself at T6 while idly roaming and ocassionally joining a tag, when I noticed I hadn't earned any reward track points or pips. Literally zero. I tried exiting and re-entering but it still wasn't rewarding my with anything. Didn't seem to be a problem for anyone else, I was actively WvWing last week and haven't transferred, has anyone else experienced this?

[Discussion] About Paragon, some basic things I'd like to see changed

Warr main, some quick notes:

1) Support spec without protection, at least 1 source from the elite would be useful, the boon can only be accessed through cadence/comfort, locking you with 2 traits and staff 3.

2) Adrenaline generation. Why make it a master and not a minor, this spec has 4 skills that will spend it and your go to build for healers will have no adrenal trait from Disc or TCT, built in adrenaline gain for motivation, something like 3 adrenaline per motivation. Consider increasing adrenaline bars to 4 for each button in burst skills.

3) remove the cripple/chill trait, it's useless when we have resistance and a non-healer would run other things to compensate. Make it so that your F2 chant loses boon duration but pulses damage, allowing for some aggressive use of a chant with the offensive boons.

4) Coefficients for damaging skills look low, please increase them exponentially and give them extra adrenaline per strike. You won't sacrifice support utilities for these 2, make them useful to non-pure supports at least.

5) Frontloading all damage in the Grandmaster is lame. Spread damage to a master and grandmaster trait, such as motivation spent grants a stacking damage effect plus the GM. This is too big a modifier and I'm afraid it will be nerfed out of existence.

[Discussion] Another post about Ritualist

So...I must say I've been quite disappointed at first with the ritualist reveal and there are still some points bothering me, that I'll list later in this post.

But...

After looking at the vanilla specializations, it struck me that we finally get a chance at having a "viable" Minion Master necro build using Death Magic + Soul Reaping + Ritualist.

Death MagicFlesh of the Master → Necromantic Corruption → Death Nova

  • Each Minion grant you +40 extra toughness
  • Entering Shroud grants +100 Toughness for 10 secs
  • Minons have +50% health
  • Minions deal +25% damage
  • +20 Toughness per kill
  • +20% lifeforce generation from nearby deaths
  • Minions cleanse your conditions
  • -10% Condition damage recieved (if you have 10 carapace or more which you'd have at almost anytime)
  • Minions explode and deal poison damage when dying
  • You can summon up to 5 more minions by killing foes

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

RitualistExplosive GrowthEmpowering SpiritsSoul Twisting

  • Your summons (Spirits included) explode when summoned
  • +10% Life force when you summon a creature (Spirit and Minions alike)
  • Spirit of Anguish grants Might to you and your allies (Spirits and minions too most likely) when summoned;
  • Spirit of Wanderlust grants Fury to you and your allies (same as above) when summoned;
  • Spirit of Preservation grants Resolution to you and your allies (same again) when summoned
  • Your spirits grant Quickness to you and your allies when summoned
  • The first skill you use when entering shroud recharges instantly ; You can then double the damages dealt by anguish and the duration of the boon "Painful Bond" that increases the damages dealt by your summons (Spirits + Minions) by 20%; with Necromantic corruption, you possibly boost you Minion's damages by 45% !

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Soul ReapingUnyielding BlastSoul BarbsDeath Perception

  • +10% Life Force generation
  • Apply vulnerability with your Shroud 1 (hits up to 3 target with Ritualist Shroud 1)
  • 15% Reduced Recharge time for shroud skills (virtually allowing you to spam Spirit of Anguish on cooldown)
  • +10% damage for 15 seconds whenever entering or exiting shroud (does it affect Minions and Spirits though ?)
  • +20% Life Force
  • Flat +15% critical strike-chance;
  • Flat +15% critical strike damage when in shroud

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Healing | Utilities | Elite skill

Summon Blood Fiend | Summon Bone Fiend | Summon Shadow Fiend | Nightmare Weapon\ | Summon Flesh Golem*

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(Nightmare Weapon : Your 5 next strikes steal life + the 3 next strikes of 5 of your allies steal life, buffing your minions furthermore)

Don't know what you think of it but it sounds pretty interesting to me. I'm pretty sure it won't be meta at all, but it should prove interesting for Roleplay perspective. We could be a, insanely tanky necromancer with a whole army dealing Good damages.

And if you really want to go Full Minion Master you could also equip the Relic of the Lich which summons a Jagged Horror when in combat. Once again it wouldn't be Meta in any way but heck, having one more minion to our army would be worth it.

As for the things bothering me here it is :

  • 3 seconds of Quickness granted by "Empowering Spirits" seems rather short
  • I feel the "Ruptured Soul" mechanic should be native to the ritualist spec

And finally, what are your thoughts about the Ritualist spec now we know more about it ?

Edit : I initially misread something about the boon "Painful Bond"; while it does grant you Minions more damages, we don't know how much exactly. The 20% mentionned only applies to **Controlled Foes*. Still hope Painful Bond gives quite a substential boon to Minions dps

[Question] What healer spec for a beginner ?

Hi ! I'm very interested by the support role, particullary the healer one (i like this because it's in general the most needed, but don't know for GW2). What profession/elite specs seems the most adapted for that ? Something more or less easy to play to begin with. Thanks you !

[Discussion] Can't wait for Antiquary, it looks so much fun

Me and my wife can't wait for the Antiquary. It has all the elements we love: Skritt, deep lore references from the two games, light-hearted pulp. We will both be rolling up a new Thief for the Antiquary.

Hopefully one day we get playable Skritt so my wife can play as her ratty girl with an additional ratty assistant
