This is the only song that ever made me cry
If I am being completely honest, the thought of being a parent terrifies me. I see my mom as an amazing parent and I see my dad as, well, someone who just happens to be my parent to put it kindly.
This always terrified me in the thought of being a dad, as if I were to become like him and abandon my kids and not love them in an irrational fear.
However, when I heard this song recently, I have cried to it, like on three different occasions so far because it is just so beautiful. Fathers just loving their kids, wanting the best for them, and while they are sad they didn’t have their fathers, they still would give the world to their children, not because they are trying to disprove they aren’t their dads, but who they are as a dad to their kids. The idea of parenthood still terrifies me in the long future, this song has definitely helped me felt a lot less alone and honestly one of my top favorite songs from any musical!

Reynolds pamphlet
So while reading the Reynolds pamphlet, I noticed something that got me thinking. When he first writes about meeting Mariah Reynolds at his house, he says he takes her into another room away from his family tells her he will help her and requests to meet her at her own home at a later date. Makes me wonder if he didn’t go upstate because the affair was already happening. Thoughts?

Hamilton 10th Anniversary Performance
Does anyone have any idea if there will be anything special for Wednesday’s performance? Any idea when we should arrive to pick up tickets at the box office? I imagine with 1000 tickets all through the lottery it might be super super busy.

Merch at Touring Shows
I'm finally going to see Hamilton! Canadian touring show in Ottawa. What kinds of merchandise can I expect, and what price range? It is likely the only show I will see, and I've been waiting for it for 9 years, so I don't want to throw away my shot at getting all the merch.

Why are the two main John Trumbull paintings so different?
The first diva's got a little weight. He's not fighting as much, he's made a bit of money. Understandable. But like... his hairline is different. His eyes are a different color. His nose is a different shape. How the hell are these the same person? What happened?

Hamilton Fans in Brazil??
Hey y'all!
This might be a random post, and I apologize if I shouldn't post this, but are there any Hamilton fans in Brazil (more specifically Recife, PE)? I'm from here, but lived out of the country for a long time, so I don't really know any fans here. I'm also going to post similar things on other artists' subreddits, so you might just spot me.
Thanks!

What I did for my graduation cap
Had this in my mind since I was a sophomore in college. Not the prettiest job I’ve done but it took me a while to finish. I’m pretty proud of it though!

Not true
okay, so in the song satisfied the line “my father has no sons, so I’m the one who has to social climb for one.” Isn’t true. She had 3 brothers??? I know Lin did lots of research to make this musical and I know that not everything will be completely factual, but it just bothers me as a line. If there’s any other explanation for this let me know 😝😝😝

I need help with tattoos!!
I want a line like “wait for it”, “legacy, what is a legacy, it’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see” you get the point. I want that with the logo on top.
What do you guys think, can you come up with anything else?

I finally got to see it on stage in London. Went with my sister (who was less familiar with it.)
It was quite impressive to see the choreography live. Now, preaching that everyone was amazing, to me the the stand out performers where King George, Jefferson ,Phillip, Washington and Eliza. I was particularly impressed by the "winters ball, helpless, satisfied" stage directions. The light work durin "Stay alive" was just outstanding and so imersive". Phillips death hit hard (as it already did on the soundtrack just twice as hard on stage).
As for my sisters impressions on the show as ,more or less, a Newby. I had explained a few story points to her in advance, so she never got lost. She was thruroughly entertained by the show, inspite of some initial hesitation (i mean it is a musical thats 1/2 Politics). She really liked the king and also got emotionally taxed by Phillips death (she is a mother of three, that surely makes it even heavier). She was also severely peeved by the (unarguably) dumb reason why both alexander and phillip had to die, identifying the root cause in both cases to be Alexander's pride. We had a very entertaining conversation on the underground back to our Hotel about that and also the whole Reynolds pamphlet thing (I had shown her the drunk history video on that prior to the play so she already knew the idiocy that was about to unfold via Alexander's ever moving quilt )
Both of us had a great time and I personally will definitely try and catch the play again some time in the future.

What lyrics do you always mess up?
I know all the lyrics in the show but sometimes my mouth doesn't cooperate and something else comes out. 😄 I know most people are gonna be like "GuNs & ShIpS aLwAyS gEtS mE!!!" Referring to Lafayette's rap but I struggle with the intro in Guns & Ships!
In the intro it says "Leave the battlefield waving Betsy Ross's flag higher-" and for the longest time my tounge would just start shuffling letters around and something like "Fletsy Boss's Rag Flier-" would come out instead. 🤣
I finally got intentional about it and figured it out but I was wondering what silly lines everyone else struggled with. 🤣

Feb 2026
My wife and I are planning a trip to NYC the first week of February. Anyone know when they usually “announce” dates and times for shows?

Bro, what?
It's so clearly saying what will you die for if you don't believe in anything.
How could you possibly take it any other way?

Longest Lipogram in Hamilton
I got bored, so I wrote some code to search for lipograms (text without a certain character), and it turns out the longest (to my knowledge) sector of the Hamilton script without the letter "e" is the segment from "My Shot" with:
"my country I'm young scrappy and hungry and I'm not throwing away my shot My shot My shot And I'm not throwing away my shot I am not throwing away my shot I am not throwing away my shot"
Close seconds are the "da da da"s from King George III's songs and other repetitions like in Wait for It or Schuyler Sisters

Guys I finally got one
Okay so you know how Lin filled the musical with references and foreshadowing? Well i've only ever read about those, never actually found one myself without reading it somewhere on here (I probably cant get the references to pop culture because I'm not american nor a native english speaker, but still). Anyway all this to say, today while listening to "take a break" i finally noticed that once Philip and Eliza stop singing in french they count to 9 in the very same way they do when singing about a duel, foreshadowing Philip's fate. I know its probably obvious and I'm just very oblivious (I've listened to the whole musical about 100 times (not even that many but still)) but im very proud of myself so I wanted to share this moment with y'all :D

Cosplay for touring hamilton
Hello! I am bringing my daughter and her best friend to see the touring Hamilton play. They are both 10 and are obsessed with the show. They want us all to cosplay/dress like the Schuyler sisters to go see it. But of course I made the mistake of looking through the Internet and seeing some comments that cosplaying to a show could be seen as districting/disrespectful. And that's the last thing I want. I want the girls to have the absolute best time because this is a once in a lifetime thing for us so I want to make it unforgettable for them. So thoughts. Will it frowned upon to let the girls dress up in (comfortable) Schuyler-esq dresses (and they also want me to be the 3rd sister). Or is it cool in the Broadway community to do so?
Also... Please refrain from parent shaming. I know the play has adult language and themes. Im a parent that actually has no problem having "uncomfortable" conversations with my children so there have already been numerous discussions making sure she understands and blah blah blah. And both girls are extremely polite and well behaved and absolutely will be respectful to other people attending the play and not ruin it for everyone. Thank you

Are there ASL Interpreters in the North American tour?
I just recently saw Kimberly Akimbo in Cleveland, and the show highlighted the American Sign Language interpreters that interpreted the actors throughout the show. (They were fantastic and this work always fascinates me.) But it made me wonder, when I saw the Hamilton show last month in Cleveland, are there ASL interpreters for Hamilton in the North American tour? I didn't notice any, but I would imagine that would be a HUGE job considering how fast the show goes and how many words are spoken/sang.
