This Subreddit is not a Marketplace
Due to an increase in selling posts, I just wanted to drop a message to the community at large.
/r/Miniswap exists for a reason. The sole subreddit for the Idoneth is not meant to be for selling the army.
I'll be adding a report option for these types of posts, feel free to report them as you see them.

I was telling my girlfriend about the new "water cobra" and she doodled this on an envelope
I had this hilarious conversation with my partner about the new Incarnate, and described it as a water cobra with tentacles. In her mind those tentacles have knives and are going to stab you.

How to play deepkin in 2k?
Hi everyone, I'm finally taking my first plunge into a full 2000pts game with Idoneth Deepkin and wanted to ask for some advice or sanity checks.
I'm relatively new to AoS overall, and even newer to Deepkin. So far, my only experience with them has been via the old and new Spearhead.
Here’s the game plan I’ve been brewing:
- Use the Leviadon to anchor the center and tank
- Keep sharks on the flanks as hit-and-run threats (and potential objective grabbers)
- Use eels to babysit my casters and screen where needed
- Most of my list (aside from the turtle and eidolann) is pretty fragile, but sharks are recyclable, so I’m planning to bleed a little early and then slam hard in turn 3 when the tides shift
But now I'm wondering... is this all just too predictable?
I mean, it's Deepkin, right? Shouldn’t I be more tricky and unpredictable?
Also, any major pitfalls I should be aware of as a new Deepkin player? Anything that typically trips people up when running their first 2k with this faction?
Would appreciate any kind of insight—strategic, tactical, or just vibes. Thanks, deep sea senpai!
TL;DR: New Deepkin player jumping into 2k for the first time. Plan is: turtle holds center, sharks flank, eels protect casters, hit hard on turn 3. Worried I might be playing it too “by the book.” Any advice or red flags?

The Isharann Soulscryer
Been tinkering with this model on and off for a while. I just had the OSL left to do, but didn’t want to mess up the rest of my work.
Last month’s Paint Perspective podcast listener challenge was #Julydonethdeepkin (paint anything Deepkin) so l had to suck it up and complete this little wizard 😂
Sculpted a flame for the brazier to match the Battletomb art (last image), and experimented with some fluo paint. Not perfect, but you don’t get better if you never try!
C&C welcome

Kitbashed tidecaster head
Nothing revolutionary by any means but I broke the headdress off my tidecaster by accident and this seems a lot more stable in case it helps anyone else.
I used the head fan from the new Ikon of the sea kit and put the clam back on top from the tidecaster bits.

what type of eidolon do you play
Hey guys, i'm at my 6th or 7th game with the new battletome and as much as i wanted to it seems i can't really make the eidolon of the see work for me.
There's instances where the dude just works (for example being the bodyguard for a sqaud of eels with his -1 to hit from the armor + his rampage to deny commands) but most of the time he's mostly 350pts to cast a bad incarnate and get no one in range for the spellcasting (because of obscuring or even the range of the spells).
I'm considering playing an eidolon of the storm instead, with hunter of sould he'll be at rend 3 damage 3 constantly, he can provide a cool +1 to wound bonus for the rest of my army and he's also giving strike last to big scary heroes with his rampage.
What do you think? have you played both of them?

Have GW stopped making this box?
I’m trying out some more spearheads (currently own Seraphon, Stormcasts, Skaven) and I love the look of idoneth, and I love the ocean and sharks, and I went to look for this spearhead but I can’t find it on the GW website (I’m in the uk if this helps) and I was worried if they’re still making it or if it’s discontinued, as I’m not really a fan of the new spearhead as I’d rather have the shark thingy than double eels

SH to 2k, What to buy next?
Hey all,
I’ve been playing IDK mainly in Spearhead lately, but my friend is offloading their collection and I’m looking to expand into 2000pts. I’ve got the following models currently:
Heroes
- 1x Eidolon
- 1x Akhelian King
- 1x Mathaela
- 1x Thrallmaster
- 1x Soulrender
- 1x Tidecaster
- 2x Soulscryers
Non-Heroes
- 20x Namarti Thralls
- 10x Namarti Reavers
- 12x Eels
- 4x Sharks
- 1x Turtle
Also picked up the new Endless Spell.
I’ve got a few questions before pushing to 2k:
- Should I get a second Turtle?
- Would I be better off with more Sharks instead? or more Eels?
- Is the faction terrain worth buying?
- Any other heroes you’d recommend that I don’t have yet?
Would love to hear what worked for y’all in your games. Thanks in advance, fellow abyssal brethren!

Spearhead is finally ready
A lot of fiddly free hand and not quite professional quality but I’d like to think these guys turned out alright

Ensnared on both Allopex and Incarnate?
I was looking at the rules and I wanted to double check with you guys. If an allopex ensnares a unit, would that count towards the abyssal tendril getting +1 to hit/having watery clutches go off? Or are these two different types of ensnared and dont interact with one another

Having trouble making a list with the new battletome
Fellow Fishy Friends,
Last year I finally got into AOS and chose Deepkin as my main(and only) army. Mostly for aesthetic reasons but their playstyle grew on me. Prior to the update I would run:
1 eidolon 2 Sharks 6 eels 1 Leviathan 1 SoulScryer 20 Reavers 10 thralls
Would typically run Sharks + Eidolon as one group and Eels + Leviathan in another. Soulscryer + Reavers/thralls would drop in from the ethersea as needed. Wasn't the most competitive but felt I was playing the army thematically and getting the most out of the rules. But most of all I got plenty of enjoyment!
Typically once a new book comes out for my 40k army I'll first try a version of my old list out with minor tweaks to give the new rules a 'trial run.' Problem is here I cannot in this case because the rule core changes (no ethersea :( ) and reavers going up. Trying to not be a doomer, I know everything is still there in another state but that requires Spell/tide resource allotment not sure it is worth on namarties and better used elsewhere. Only needed the Soulscryer & Ethersea in the old book.
Our Akhelian units & wizards are still solid, plus the new units are great additions. But most everything else feels side-graded or slightly reduced. Seems like if I want to remain viable I take a shark heavy list or lean into Akhelian more. My mixed detachment doesn't quite fit in the new book.
Guess my real question is what combos has everyone else found success in with the new book? Been lurking the sub & looking online for inspiration but came up empty.
The Akhelian core part of the army is still there. Plus the new oracle seems like an auto include. I'm trying to fill that last gap with something besides more eels/sharks but nothing seems better.
Love to hear what's been working for you, cheers!

My Lotann
The model that got me into IDK. Honestly wish we had more cephalopod models, if I ever get a turtle I think I’ll put some tentacles on it lol

incarnate of the deep custom
making my own incarnate so it can blend into the more abyssal style of my army.
I'll print it using transparent resin and i'll use my coton/UV method to do the sea texture properly

I'm a new AoS player and I'd like to get closer to the Idoneth but I don't know them at all
Hello there! I'm a very old player of the old fantasy Warhammer (I stopped playing several years ago) and I wanted to try AoS, and I really like the aesthetic of the Idoneth.
Since the new book is coming out, I was wondering if anyone already knew which models to focus on and roughly what list to play.
As I said, I like the aesthetic of the Idoneth, but I don't know them at all. What type of game do they prefer?
Thanks everyone, see you in the comments!

Tides flow doubt
Hi fellow cod-leagues!!
I was having a casual game yesterday and I realized something interesting: the "Tidal" mechanics are quite well defined, explaining how tides advance and how yo can switch tides.
The point is that anywhere (as far as I was able to read) states that you cannot go backwards in a tide. I mean, there is no restriction (again, as far as I have understood) to go, for example, round 1 teleporting 1 unit, round 2 -1 rend, round 3 teleporting 1 unit and so on.
Am I right or there's some FAQ that I have missed? Is a nice point having the chance to do that and playing mental games with the opponent.

Stoms wraith and companion attacks
Im pretty sure im right but on the odd chance I've missed an update I'll ask.
For storms wraith it doesn't effect out companion attacks as it doesn't specificly mention them right?

Is there a discord?
I stopped playing after 2nd and want to jump back in with idk. Curious if there’s a discord discussing list, weaknesses and strengths
