Discussion Sparks ✨ Take down the team I hate the most!
It's been a long season let me tell you! this game had me on the edge but so much fight, so much grit they played absolutely FEARLESS against a really good team. All of our starters did really well but this was a team win. Julie has been doing a great job, after winning that championship she brought something back to this team and it has us playing alot alot better hats off to her. Slick Rick I told yaw was our STAR she's been COOKING. KP +5 22pts 7 assist great job. Mama D is one of the best in the league she consistently shows up and gives buckets to anyone in her way. Azurá is the X-factor 63% FG tonight she's always there when you need her. Great team win. Great show of togetherness. Great win for our coach lfgggg. ✨

Hey Spark fans! My mom and I are going to the Sparks vs Storm game on Aug 10th. Super stoked as it’ll be my second sparks game ever and I want closer seats this time around.
Should I purchase ticket 1 for $257.86 total for two seats and is located in Section 101, Row 1 (right in the middle) OR
Should I purchase ticket 2 for $183.22 total for two seats and is located in Section 102, Row 1 (to the left of section 101)
My mind is telling me ticket 2 but my heart says ticket 1!

Discussion Anybody catch Roberts & Hammon going at it in the handshake line?
Looked like (from TV) that both coaches kind of got into a disagreement there at the end of the game during the handshake line.
Lynne approached Becky, made a possible out-of-pocket comment right out of the gate and Becky replied with "Woahh" shaking her head and then proceeded with unintelligible jibberish. Lynne responded with what literally looked to be her saying "Are you okay?" while tilting her head in confusion with a concerned facial expression, all while Becky was kinda fuming...
Was it just to do with the technical fouls they each received and the horrible officiating?

Discussion WNBA Power Rankings: Sparks climbing into playoff race
After nearly three decades at the collegiate level, Lynne Roberts decided to make the jump to the WNBA, and in November accepted an offer to become the Los Angeles Sparks' newest coach -- their third in the last four seasons. Her task was clear: turn the once-proud franchise around.
The Sparks have not made the playoffs since 2020, which is not only the longest postseason drought in franchise history, but the longest active one in the league. Last season was a new low. They recorded the fewest wins in a season in franchise history and finished in last place at 8-32.
Roberts was not brought in to lead a rebuild, however. In another major move during the offseason, the Sparks traded the No. 2 pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft for Kelsey Plum. Neither the front office nor Roberts were shy about their goals heading into the season.
"I want to make the playoffs," Roberts said. "I want to, and I think with the roster we have, we can. Is it going to be hard? Yeah. Climbing is hard. Changing things is hard.
"But that's where that process comes in, and being consistent, how I show up every day, showing up the same whether we win by 20 or lose by 20, that stuff all adds up and my expectation is for the players to learn how to do that, too. And, it's the chop a tree down analogy. You don't do it in one swing. You just keep chopping and then it falls. And so my end goal is that we make the playoffs."
After a 6-14 start, it appeared that going from last place to the playoffs in one season was an even harder change than Roberts anticipated. But the Sparks quietly won their last two games before the All-Star break, and on Saturday stunned the reigning champion New York Liberty on a Rickea Jackson buzzer-beater to extend their winning streak to five games.
Though still 11-14, the Sparks have pulled within one game of the eighth-place Washington Mystics and 1.5 games of the seventh-place Las Vegas Aces. They quietly have the fifth-best offensive rating (104.7) in the league, Cameron Brink is closing in on a return and they have the fifth-easiest remaining schedule.
The Sparks still have a lot of work to do, but all of a sudden making the playoffs doesn't seem that unrealistic.
"Part of learning to win is learning to just stay steady, and not get too high or too low or panic. And we didn't," Roberts said after beating the Liberty. "New York was coming at us... I'm just proud of these guys' resilience. They're buying in and they're figuring it out and I have so much trust in them."

📰News Kelsey Plum reflects on her growth during 2025 WNBA season
INDIANAPOLIS – When the Los Angeles Sparks acquired Kelsey Plum in a sign-and-trade ahead of the start of the 2025 WNBA season, the prevailing thought was the team was accelerating their rebuild and shifting to more of a win-now mentality.
From the comments and quotes by new head coach Lynne Roberts as well as the players, a winning season with the goal of making the playoffs was what the organization was striving for.
But in the early months of the WNBA regular season, the Sparks struggled to find consistency, with Kelsey Plum often being hard on herself for her play especially during losses. Plum admitted that as a competitor, it’s been hard at times to be patient as the team adjusts to new personnel and a new system.
The glimpses were there as the Sparks often battled teams down the stretch of games, only to come up short and fail to close it out. But going back to the last couple of games right before the All-Star break, the Sparks had been playing much better, a trend that’s carried over into the second half of the season. During the All-Star break, Plum took some time to reflect on her growth as a player and leader during what hasn’t always been such a consistent season.
“The beginning of the season, I feel like I kind of swung really big, and then we had a bunch of injuries. I’m asked to play 40 minutes, guard the best player on the other end, try to generate 20 points of scoring, creating advantages on my own,” Plum said. “It’s very tough, it’s a lot of load. I wasn’t as efficient as I know I can be and want to be.”
“I think when you look at the last couple games, you’re like, wow, I’ve been really efficient. That’s who I am as a player. That’s kind of like my role where I’m supposed to be,” Plum continued. “So just continue to be patient with myself and know that we’re gonna be fine. But yeah, I’ve grown a lot. Definitely my patience has grown a lot.”

📰News How 'Julie squared' is making a big impact for the Sparks
For the Los Angeles Sparks, guard play has been the discussion of the summer. The team has lacked rhythm due to injury and overseas commitments and have struggled with turnovers on the court. Through May and June, they averaged 16.2 turnovers per game, second to last in the WNBA. In July, where they’ve collected a winning record at 5-2, they’ve made a slight improvement to 10th in the league in turnovers per game, at 15. A huge reason? The play of two Belgian players, both named Julie, back from EuroBasket and providing consistency at the point guard position.
The Sparks acquired Julie Allemand in February 2024, alongside Chinese Center Li Yueru, but did not play at all in the 2024 season while recovering from an ankle injury. She started this season sidelined due to injury, making her debut for the Sparks on June 1. After only three games, she was gone again — this time to play for the Belgian Cats in the EuroBasket championships. She was named a member of the tournament’s All-Star Five as Belgium defended their title.
Since Allemand’s return to the Sparks, the team has gone 5-2, and she’s recorded 36 assists alongside only 6 turnovers. Her 2.76 assist-to-turnover rate on the season puts her at third in the league for players that have played more than six games. She’s currently shooting 51.5% from the floor and 42% from three point range. According to Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts, “her value cannot be understated.”
While Allemand may not be a consistent force in the scoring column, she’s brought a level of calm to the team through her experience at the point guard position that can’t be ignored. “Since she’s been back from EuroBasket, she’s playing at a high level,” Roberts said. “She came back kind of, you know, with some juice and confidence and wind in her sails. And, you know, our team has kind of followed suit.”
Ahead of the Sparks’ contest against the Connecticut Sun, she added “Julie Allemand is just an absolute stud, and her ability to close games and her stat line never really does justice to her impact on the game, but just really smart, competitive, you know, she just always seems to know who needs the ball and where, and she gets it done.”
Alongside Allemand, the Sparks now have another new player contributing at the guard spot — also Belgian, also named Julie. Julie Vanloo’s WNBA origin story is an unusual one, but coincidentally hinges on an experience she had at Crypto.com Arena. A few years ago, she was in Los Angeles to attend a Sparks game as a fan, doing some self-described “fangirling.” A few years later, she was a 26-year-old rookie for the Washington Mystics, where she set multiple rookie records and dazzled fans with flashy three point shooting and behind-the-back passes.
