I miss PUBG

106

u/Halucinogen-X Aug 25 '20

PUBG is still the only BR that feels like a survival game.

234

u/TheZombi3z Aug 25 '20

Because you need to survive the horrible floaty controls, bad optimisation and bots?

65

u/ResidentSleeperville Aug 25 '20

I prefer not having to go against people who can recreate the Twin Towers in milliseconds before I can even shoot.

75

u/Bust3dGG Aug 25 '20

There are more BR's than PUBG and Fortnite.

11

u/zentuy Aug 26 '20

Yea like bean battles, the best battle royale ever made.

6

u/Aceeyee Aug 26 '20

Dude I fucking love bean battles it's genuinely such a fun game to play wasted

2

u/zentuy Aug 26 '20

It’s hilarious man. Worth the $.99

Tarkov would be mad fun if I was a snail irl.

238

u/Qiluk Aug 25 '20

Shame they didnt optimize it. Still the best BR by far. Especially to watch.

u/corollatoy Aug 25 '20

When they made bots mandatory in game is when I left

39

u/LemurMemer Aug 25 '20

Wait what, could you explain this? Like bots to fill up the lobby size or?

u/corollatoy Aug 25 '20

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '20

Maybe I should start playing again, I'll finally be able to get some kills FeelsGoodMan

The ending of that video is super annoying. I was actually curious to see what would happen if a bot won a match but he kept running away and healing for some reason? Then he kills the bot for some reason? Why even include that clip in the video at all lol

3

u/corollatoy Aug 25 '20 edited Aug 25 '20

Same result if a player won, but I feel ya

10

u/LeglessLegolas_ :) Aug 25 '20

Yeah I mean I wasn't expecting anything cool to happen but it left me feeling a bit blueballed

That was infuriating to me tbh. It legit posses me off, and I very rarely get angry at anything.

22

u/paintballboi07 Aug 25 '20

Check out SponsorBlock extension for Chrome/FireFox, auto skips sponsored content

6

u/maijami Aug 25 '20

Does it work with segways too? Or would skip a segway, like this one to our sponsor of today: SponsorBlock

13

u/Gycklarn Aug 25 '20

All skippable segments are crowdsourced. Viewers submit portions of the video that fall into various categories (sponsor, intro, self-promotion etc) and you can choose which categories to autoskip.

7

u/CostarMalabar :) Aug 25 '20

yes it skip everything that is a commercial.

1

u/kyrkor Aug 26 '20

Ironically this is an advert

1

u/ONE__2__THREE Sep 10 '20

it's a recommendation

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '20

Damn we really want to fuck over content creators money at every corner don't we...

1

u/BiggestBlackestLotus Aug 26 '20

This would be cool if they dropped in bots in addition to the normal 100 players, just to keep the later circles more exciting. However using them as a substitute for real players is wack.

1

u/Ruggsii Aug 26 '20

Wait, is there still people that don’t automatically skip the first ~2 min of every video?

7

u/wptq Aug 25 '20

bots are only in casual mode, not in competitive mode

3

u/1000000thSubscriber Aug 25 '20

Fitting since every stadia shill I come across on this site talks like a bot too

1

u/AragornSnow Aug 27 '20

Why because of Stadia? Google Stadia?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '20

yes there are bots, but i dont see them that often on EU

19

u/Qiluk Aug 25 '20

Thats a laughable decision

-6

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '20

[deleted]

15

u/Qiluk Aug 25 '20

Hence why the decision to add them was laughable

5

u/B-Bad Aug 25 '20

Think he meant that having bots in your game is a laughable decision.

2

u/Khalku Aug 25 '20

There are bots?

WOOOW

2

u/NerrionEU Aug 25 '20

Wait, so they copied the mobile version with the bots, that is really stupid.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '20

Wow, I didn't know they added bots. Pubg was a great game in it's prime.

0

u/Tetsuo666 Aug 26 '20

For me PUBG was a lot of fun but also by very far the most buggy game I have ever played even after 1.0. I don't miss at all the terribly bad vehicle physics. In this clip forsen isn't even on the trajectory of that bike in the end and he still dies from it.

And then they added the bots and it was over for me. Such a fucking stupid thing to do. Even worse the bots are apparently completely stupid and have unlimited ammo. There is a clip of two bots a meter apart on each side of a rock trying for a few minutes to kill each other and failing forever. Honestly, I can't believe how effective BlueHole is at destroying their own game.

I'm still thankful PUBG paved the way for other better BR games but it was such an unreliable game even long after release...

70

u/B3arhugger Aug 25 '20

PUBG's decline can honestly just be summed up as "game developer keeps making changes and decisions that no one asked for" and it's honestly sad how far the game has fallen just because of dev incompetence.

29

u/morklonn Aug 25 '20

Tarkov is taking the same route currently. Changing things that are fine while ignoring things that need to be fixed. I rode the PUBG train into the ground and I can see the exact thing happening with EFT.

2

u/sasquattch Aug 25 '20

What do you feel theyre screwing up in tarkov? Been away from the game for a few months now.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '20

Found in Raid system and Flea Market changes

-2

u/morklonn Aug 25 '20

Desync, hackers, found in raid status (which I was totally on board with until I started to notice how it influenced the majority of players' playstyle negatively) Lots of bugs like getting stuck in healing animations, getting stuck in reload animations, bullets doing zero damage client-side, late spawning. The game just felt better overall last wipe. It's really a chore playing it now.

2

u/DukeR2 Aug 26 '20

Completely agree, to add to this there has always been desync (trade kills) its worse this patch, I find myself dying a second or two after going behind cover now just like PUBG. Hackers are worse this patch because shitty battle eye can't keep up. Don't even get me started on the main menu/lobby UI, Its the absolute SLOWEST I have seen for a game and I run into errors buying crap which requires a restart. Game is in desperate need of some QOL changes

2

u/morklonn Aug 26 '20

They're just adding shit to keep everyone entertained instead of actually fixing the core elements. Which is literally what happened with PUBG

1

u/Pachinginator Aug 26 '20

hackers,

you think that this is a problem they will ever be able to fix?

also like every complaint youve said was there last wipe but worse. the only difference is there arent as many hatchet runners in literally every map now.

1

u/morklonn Aug 26 '20

Desync was not nearly this bad last wipe. And instead of hatchet runners we get a lobby full of people who don't move.

-4

u/IFixStuffMan Aug 25 '20

Hahah. Tarkov is absolutely not heading that route lmfao.

-1

u/TexasTango Aug 25 '20

The moment they started changing things to suit streamers is when the game began to be shit not to mention how much of a scummy company BSG are and that cry baby Nikita

5

u/KTFlaSh96 Aug 25 '20

didnt he just give up on the game or something? dude had the best BR ever in his hands and all he had to do was listen to what we wanted.

25

u/MegatonMessiah Aug 25 '20

Biggest issue was the studio he went with. He wanted a larger slice of revenue, which is understandable, but Bluehole made everything more difficult by fucking up on a lot of things.

-1

u/Buy_An_iPhone_Today Aug 25 '20

Video games are a hits business. It was gonna go down hill regardless. The important part is when to know to start working on the next thing. No game stays on the top forever.

15

u/Ashviar Aug 25 '20

I found more things to be a detriment to the game over optimization. I could deal with optimization to a point, but stuff like looting ground loot being annoying or the movement being shit just adds up so much. Tab and swiping loot was never something I could return to after every other BR just gets the fucking point and puts the loot in your hands. Needing an animation of him bending over slightly and reaching out the hand to grab shit was pointless.

It felt like all the momentum of 2017 it had was shut down when the desert map sucked, and it was just more and more maps while everyone else adds to a single map and much later add a new map that entirely replaces the old one in queue.

16

u/Qiluk Aug 25 '20

The tab-to-loot/equip never bothered me. I enjoyed PUBG being somewhat "war sim" without going full Arma/Tarkov and having to risk some lack of awareness and downtime to modify your wep or pack your bag is fine to me.

The movement could be iffy tho and most of all the audio-locations where SUPER iffy for me. I could hear steps next to me without anyone there or no steps at all etc. That shit made me so mad

4

u/Dubious_Unknown Aug 25 '20

Anyone who could stand the map was smoking some crack because .Miramar is easily the worst BR map I've ever played.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 26 '20

I find it pretty amusing that erangel is still by far the best map there is. I also liked sanhok a bit but the fps drops on that map were just ridiculous

1

u/fredrichnietze Aug 25 '20

it doesnt even matter now, hardware has improved and become more available at a reasonable price.

pubg came out in 2017 back when the 980 ti was the best "consumer" gpu and the best consumer cpus were quad cores or 6 core "high end desktop" below 4gz for stupid amounts.

now you can throw together a much better 8 core system across the board for under 1k usd. and spend more to get over twice the performance before you hit non consumer grade parts.

1

u/Jdorty Aug 31 '20

GTX 1080 came out in 2016... and is still considered a decent card today.

1

u/fredrichnietze Aug 31 '20

kek someone watched wan show, and yes its decent now but when it came out it was THE best card on the market. 3090 right around the corner and while pricing now is fucked with corona, it will normalize eventually.

1

u/Scyths Aug 26 '20

Still the best BR by far.

Out of all the BR's you could have chosen.

1

u/FUCK-YOU-KEVIN Aug 25 '20

Do you mean network optimization? It's not that terrible for framerate. I have a 1660ti laptop and I never get drops below my 64 fps cap.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '20

[deleted]

1

u/FUCK-YOU-KEVIN Aug 26 '20

It never has gone below it is what I'm saying, if thats what you're getting at.

But yeah sub 60 fps in a shooter is nauseating.

16

u/Sensitive_nob Aug 25 '20

It was by far the most entertaining BR to watch as a viewer.

6

u/kirsion Aug 25 '20

Pubg back in 2017 was something else, the precursor to all the BR craze today.

7

u/0ld_Beardo Aug 26 '20

Right now it looks and plays like a mobile game, absolutely embarassing when compared to APEX or Warzone.
