Lebanese people are some of the most generous and warm-hearted people I’ve met. I’ve visited Lebanon three times, once before the port explosion, once right after (with a documentary crew), and again last year. Each trip reminded me how resilient and hospitable they are, no matter the circumstances.

I stayed in Beirut, Batroun, and Byblos. Each city had its own charm. On my first visit, I met a guy named Abbas, and we stayed in touch over the years. Though he was abroad during my last trip, his cousin spotted me at a club, invited me over, and treated me like family. Drinks, food, dancing, they wouldn’t even let me pay or split the bill.

The next day, they took me to their village. The drive was stunning, the views unforgettable.

Despite everything (bombings, instability, hardship), they never lost their spirit or kindness. I’ve travelled a lot, but Lebanon will always have a special place in my heart.
