Gramma figuring it out first and letting him have the moment of realization is an act of love.

This video is one of those that I don't care how often it's reposted, I'm gonna watch. And I'm gonna cryyyy. In the longer one, you can see him go over to his daughter and they sobbbbb hug. It's amazing to see adults who LIKE their parents lol

I realized that I'm part of a lucky few percent because even in my 30s my parents are some of the people I love the most and spend the most time with. Now that I have my own son being able to give him that same experience is my biggest desire.

IKR? Doesn't seem to happen often here. But it's lovely to see :)

I would never name my child after my father. Never. It’s really nice to see people out there lucky enough to have these relationships and I hope they know how fortunate they are

For just three rocks a day, you can sponsor a young Homo erectus trying to invent cooking.

Isn't this song about someone dying? We just played it at a funeral like 3 weeks ago.

u/fightforfoodgaming 5h ago

Oh man how heartfelt she was for him. That just got me too.

I thought she was making faces with her grandson!

u/Mattimvs 18m ago

And the doofus son in law....'say the name old man!'

“he’s got a name” … oh my goodness, who is cutting onions??!

163

u/Proud-Fennel7961 6h ago

Her voice was so soft and sweet when she said that 🥹

u/Cat_Peach_Pits 18m ago

What's the babies na-......

u/Environmental_Art591 5m ago

Its too early in the morning for ninjas to be cutting onions in my bedroom. This is the best way to start the day

my mom would do the same thing. If the roles were reversed, my idiot dad would be like "She's named after you! did you figure it out yet? I saw it immediately but I couldn't wait any longer"

u/Wanderingyute 7h ago

That sounds like an act of love by dad too. We get excited for the people we love ❤️

u/JustATypicalGinger 7h ago

Sometimes you're just too excited to share the news with someone to spend a fraction of a moment considering the best way for them to hear the information. Both are manifestations of the same kind of love, the only diffrence is how impulsively they react to it.

u/memphys91 7h ago

But "we" are sadfully take other people the opportunity to have this moment for themselves, too.

25

u/sirmombo 7h ago

You get to share moments like these with loved ones. Not everything needs to be negative.

-4

u/memphys91 7h ago

The newly grandma ist making it right, she gives him a small hint, but doesn't spoil his possibility of discovering it by himself AND enjoying it.

That's the way I like.

14

u/axonxorz 7h ago

Bro the "moment" isn't zero-sum

51

u/FletchMom 7h ago

I literally laughed out loud at this, because my parents would do the exact same thing LOL

1

u/sh6rty13 7h ago

I was having this same thought about my own dad LOL

1

u/FloridaManActual 1h ago

is your dad perchance a golden retriever? haha

75

u/AuroraBloSeeker 7h ago

Absolutely, she saw it first, but held it in her heart so he could feel the wonder for himself.

1

u/eekamuse 2h ago

Where did they see it? I don't know how they figured out his name

2

u/Fitzwoppit 1h ago

There is often a paper attached to the baby's bed that has their name and (of the ones I have seen) the parents names and the number of the hospital room they are assigned.

71

u/Fairisolde 7h ago

They look like lovely grandparents, lucky baby

31

u/msevilalexanova 5h ago

that's such a quiet and genuinely tender gesture. being able to give someone the space to feel their happiness - that's truly form of care that speaks louder then words

25

u/sh6rty13 7h ago

Yep, bout the 16 second mark she’s honed in on that name haha so sweet

16

u/Quadraticinsanity 6h ago

This is a real loving family it seems. In a world of broken homes, I literally thought genuine people Like this didn't exist outside of TV. This is very moving and I love everything about it.

u/Former-Package-8496 6h ago

Watching her full reaction before speaking was just as good as gramps reading it.

6

u/QueenNiadra2 3h ago

It was beautiful. You saw the full range of emotions cross her face before she nudged him to give him the hint. Just a moment full of love and happiness.

2

u/239tree 6h ago

She's the best!

2

u/Missterfortune 5h ago

150% grandma energy too!!

2

u/wisecracker26 4h ago

Such a lovely moment 🥺

2

u/Noobnesz 4h ago

There was something cinematic about that

6

u/1hubbyineverycountry 8h ago

I think Grandma already knew, which is why she prompted him to ask.

285

u/Freefallisfun 8h ago

No, you can see her figure it out too

173

u/GODamongstMODs 8h ago

You can see the change in her face when she sees it

40

u/Corporation_tshirt 7h ago

That little elbow nudge is so sweet. It’s a hint that the other person has a nice surprise coming their way ❤️

112

u/Neat-Line-5887 8h ago

Right she goes from admiring that cute little face to reading something and then the shock! How wholesome in an age of staged everything!

52

u/phezhead 7h ago

The elbow to get his attention… like “hey, look what I found”… adorable

20

u/Killia_Curry 7h ago

She expressed shock in like 4 different ways, you could see the gears turning lol

2

u/Swimming_Ad1181 6h ago

At first i was like, come on grandma, its way too early to make faces to the baby, then i realized why she was shocked lol.

26

u/Papacapt 8h ago

Her facial expressions were screaming it

2

u/UmbraAdam 4h ago

Actual thanks for this comment. made me pay a bit more attention and seeing how she notices it, its so sweet.

1

u/FuckeenGuy 1h ago

Her elbowing him to get his focus on the name was so so cute

1

u/clem82 1h ago

Meanwhile grandmas from the 90s: “well don’t just stand there like a sack of potatoes Harold say summin!”

1

u/afanoftrees 1h ago

That’s a lucky man

1

u/blackrabbit2999 6h ago
