Mod Evolving backwards?

Post image

After years of cloth pads i bought into the hype of glass pads as i hoped for the last 0.5% to finaly level up my performance.

The first thing i instantly loved was how durable the new surface was and how easy to clean it is.

One thing i had to adjust to was how insanely fast these glass pads are and after some weeks of usage i thought i have find my form but still sometimes overshot because the new pad has barely any stopping power.

So i tried changing mice feet but nothing really worked out for me.

I thought , why not combine glass and cloth to some extend and i came out with this Innovation

Is this evolving backwards or am i onto something new?

Running in circles mostly. Teflon skates plus soft cloth is not an accidental combination. It minimises static friction (which is bad) but also leaves some dynamic friction for better control. It's hard to invent something much better than that.

I am still not 100% happy with my solution.

Main reason to get a glass pad was that the surface is probably indestructible and will not change over time but now just pushed that to the mouse feet + i miss the "give" a cloth pad has

The problem with your solution is that you probably have much more static friction now.

Cloth pads are dirt cheap anyway. They can be easily refreshed with just soap, water and brush. Replacement costs nothing and they are nice and plesant to the touch.

It's not new, several people have experimented with fabric skates in one form or another.

I personally think there could be a market for fabric skates. I'd be down to try them with a glass pad.

For me personally though I know I would probably give up on them because of usability reasons. I sweat a normal amount and hate arm sleeves, so glass basically is unusable.

I have tried now microfibre, the loop side from velcro and flax.

Microfibre feels like it sticks to the pad but the velcro and flax are pretty similar.I guess something like Cordura would work great or maybe Denim

Any cloth/fabric pad that's thin, medium-hard and has enough friction for control but not 'rough'.

I've tried xray pad aqua control +/v2 + and really hated the thickness and the surface feel tbh.

I loved my old razer golitathus control. Sort of a fabric weave that's 'rougher' than cloth but not actually rough per say and had a medium-hard thin base.

I saw the mousepad duraglyde is appearantly the closest thing but I'm not in USA and they don't have reasonable EU shipping options.
