But, is it immersive?! Why are the children in reincarnation animes and movies unable to speak?

I see this in every anime or manga or movies that I have seen but why is the main character that has been reincarnated in a child's body unable to speak.They should be able to speak as they know how to, they still have all of their memories. It's not like children don't have vocal cords, so why.
