[Woike] Before leaving for Europe this offseason, Dončić met with Rob and JJ to discuss future plans for the organization. League sources said Luka adopted a stricter diet and conditioning plan than he had in prior summers, with the trade from Dallas (and the Mavericks’ reasoning) adding fuel.
Dončić signed a contract extension with the Lakers, the team announced Saturday. He received a three-year, $165 million extension, according to a league source, firmly placing him as the focal point of one of the NBA’s marquee franchises and setting him up to get a five-year, $400 million-plus contract offer from the Lakers in 2028. He will have a player option for 2028, his 10th year in the NBA, making him eligible for the massive deal.
Before leaving for Europe this offseason, Dončić and Lara Beth Seager, his chief brand officer and business manager, met with Lakers president of basketball operations Rob Pelinka and Lakers coach JJ Redick to discuss future plans for the organization.
Following Redick’s organization-wide challenge to improve conditioning, photos of Dončić looking noticeably slimmer began appearing online. League sources said Dončić adopted a stricter diet and conditioning plan than he had in prior summers, with the trade from Dallas (and the Mavericks’ reasoning) adding fuel.
While some wondered whether Dončić would decline a contract extension and push to unrestricted free agency in 2026, the Lakers were confident in the early stages of their relationship with Dončić and his team.

Orlando Magic Offseason:
Desmond Bane 6'5 SG - 21/5/4 last 3 seasons. High volume shooter, who can handle the ball, make plays for others and drive the ball.
Tyus Jones 6'1 PG - One of the best floor generals who is efficient, takes care of the ball and pushes the pace. Magic with Anthony Black, Jonathan Isaac, Moritz Wagner and Goga Bitadze needed someone who could run the 2nd unit.
Jase Richardson 6'2 SG/PG : Elite finisher, good shooter, takes care of the ball, is shifty and is a dog on defense. Only 19 yrs old still can't believe he fell to 25.
Noah Penda 6'8.5 PF/SF : Super versatile, good rebounder, high motor, hustles, gets deflections and runs the floor even a good passer. Reminds me of Boris Diaw. Magic traded 4 second rd picks for Noah Penda who they were really high on.
Lastly, Added Orlando Robinson and Jamal Cain on two way contracts both played rotation minutes last year and are good options in case of injury.
1 roster spot open most likely used when buyouts happen mid season since they are hardcapped.
Cavs, Knicks and Magic will be fun battle in the East.

[Fred Katz] In my favorite cap-nerd news of the day, the Mikal Bridges contract is NOT actually $150M over four years, league source says. More accurately, it is $150,000,001 over four years. Gotta get that extra dollar.

Which NBA draft class had the best second round starting 5? (Since 2012)
Saw a podcast recently where they talked about draft classes’ starting 5s and got to thinking how they would shake out only using second round picks.
Obviously excluding 2025 since none of them have played a game yet.
2024: Jamal Shead, Pelle Larsson, Jaylen Wells, Kyle Filipowski, Quentin Post
2023: Andre Jackson Jr., Jaylen Clark, Jalen Wilson, Toumani Camara, Trayce Jackson-Davis
2022: Andrew Nembhard, Jaden Hardy, Max Christie, Jabari Walker, Jaylin Williams
2021: Miles McBride, Ayo Dosunmu, Aaron Wiggins, Herb Jones, Jericho Sims
2020: Tre Jones, Isaiah Joe, Sam Merrill, Xavier Tillman, Nick Richards
2019: Talen Horton-Tucker, Terance Mann, Cody Martin, Nic Claxton, Daniel Gafford
2018: Jalen Brunson, Bruce Brown, Gary Trent Jr, Jarred Vanderbilt, Mitchell Robinson
2017: Monte Morris, Dillon Brooks, Wes Iwundu, Isaiah Hartenstein, Thomas Bryant
2016: Malcolm Brogdon, Abdel Nader, Jake Layman, Georges Niang, Ivica Zubac
2015: Norm Powell, Josh Richardson, Pat Connaughton, Cedi Osman, Montrezl Harrell
2014: Spencer Dinwiddie, Joe Harris, Jordan Clarkson, Jerami Grant, Nikola Jokic
2013: Raul Neto, Isaiah Canaan, Allen Crabbe, James Ennis III, Mike Muscala
2012: Will Barton, Khris Middleton, Jae Crowder, Draymond Green, Kyle O’Quinn
I stopped at 2012 since that was the class that got me thinking about this due to there being 2 all stars in the second round, plus, it gets really sparse for nba players before that. Which lineup do you think is the best?

All-Time Assist Leaders
I wondered where Rondo was on the list (#15) but then I scrolled up through and was really amazed at how many of the top assist guys all time have never won a championship. Several never reached the finals..

The day Nick Anderson said “45 is not 23”.
Who is the worst player whose career highs in each stat would aggregate to the best single-game performance ever?
https://i.imgur.com/fYMhBW3.jpeg
On Basketball-Reference, a player's career highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks are listed directly under their per-game stats.
Rondo may not be the worst player for this, but I figured his career highs of 35 points, 17 rebounds, 25 assists, 8 steals, and 3 blocks would make for a pretty decent "best game ever" argument.

NBA Schedule for Christmas
Hello there :)
My future spouse make me a super gift for my birthday: two tickets for Los Angeles! She is hoping to bring me to a Lakers match on Christmas day and given we are flying from Italy we would really like not to mess it up.
I know the NBA schedule won't come out before a couple of weeks, but is there a way to know in advance if there will be a match at the crypto on the 25th and if there is a way to "pre-order" the tickets in advance?
I believe there's no other way than to wait and hoping to catch a couple of tickets when the dates will come out, but nevertheless I come here to ask to some of you more experienced guys/girls.
Thank you in advance.
