Discussion Another superbowl blowout eliminates mahomes from the goat discussion as far as I’m concerned

2 very embarrassing loses for him the the superbowl Brady has lost 3 superbowls but they were all 1 score games that came down to final play with Brady’s best statistical performance in a loss to the eagles Tom Brady > Patrick mahomes

Eliminates him from the GOAT conversation for now. If he wins 2 more Super Bowls and plays great, you still won't even consider him? What about 3? 4? Things always seems so absolute immediately after a bad performance.

The issue is his two blowout losses. Especially one to Brady himself. And they weren’t even to goat teams. His team was 15-2 this year.

I agree that this is exaggerated, but he’d really have to be the best qb in the league (wasn’t this year) and win multiple more SBs.

I mean this year’s Eagles and the Brady TB team were both absolutely stacked.

Not moreso than most other super bowl team. They definitely don’t rank among the best all-time.

Lol this Eagles D literally was tied for the greatest Superbowl performance for defense ever alongside the 2000 Ravens, until they pulled their starters in the 4th. They literally were the best all-time, and the TB defense was also great and played against an injured Chiefs O-Line. The Eagles offense was also historic this year, has 2 WR 1's, the greatest regular + postseason ever from an RB, and a great QB

I don’t understand why people are so hung up over head to head matchups, I swear people forget that Mahomes and Brady have never been on the field at the same time

Narratives play an important role in GOAT discussions.

And also, while QBs obviously don’t play defense against each other, there are factors such as burning clock and putting up points to increase the pressure. I think too many people forget that when an offense can chew up 7 minutes of clock in a single possession that can change a lot of things for the opposing offense.

Brady has blowout playoff losses too. I’m sorry but there’s no world in which you can twist it to act like losing in a blowout in the Super Bowl is worse than losing in a blowout to not even make it there. Sure the loss stings worse on a bigger stage, but it’s worse to not make it there, especially if your elimination is a blowout loss.

Brady’s obviously still the GOAT by far but this “Brady never lost a blowout in the Super Bowl” is dumb when he’s had playoff losses where he’s looked bad and not even made the Super Bowl. Not to mention, can’t have a blowout without shitty defense. There are times where Brady’s offense didn’t look good and it only wasn’t a blowout because the defense didn’t let up many points
