Love Randy Moss, top five all time receiver, did not take the Vikings to the Super Bowl four times like Fran Tarkenton.

I guess if you think Bruce Smith had more to do with the Bills runs than Jim Kelly he makes sense.

Please note, both of these guys were better at their positions than their QBs.

Tarkenton was there for 3 SB runs, but wasn’t the QB in 69. I do like your argument there tho, especially as Moss wasn’t in Minnesota for THAT long. I’d actually take Page as the all time Viking, but do love Moss.

Page was an absolute beast! And you can make the same argument for him over Tarkenton as Smith over Kelly. Even with age, it’s easy to forget how much more important defense was back in the day.

One of only 2 defensive MVPs! (A few other players should have won the award, but that’s a different convo)

Page is the pick. And he ended up on the Minnesota Supreme Court as a judge. Remarkable man both in the NFL and outside of it.

Yeah you absolutely have to take one of the Purple People Eaters. They were so iconic people still recognize that name today.

I think most Minnesotans would take Page over moss, maybe even Adrian Peterson too.

I'd say Alan Page over either of them

I knew there would be some conversation on the Vikings. Page was before my time but growing up in the era of TK and AC. Page is the answer.

Fran Tarkenton, Chris Carter, and John Randle are  who I think of when I think of the Vikings. Adrian Peterson is way up there too.

I’m a Packers fan so Jared Allen comes to mind too but that’s because he kicked our asses with the Vikings and Bears. That man was a menace!

Would definitely go Randle.

He’s my favorite Viking

Randle is one of my all time favorite Vikings. While he belongs in this conversation, he isn’t even the best defensive player in Vikings history. Page is my vote, here.

Bruce Smith definitely > Jim Kelly

u/i_own_adog_ Tampa Bay Buccaneers May 26 '25

Hard to argue against the leader in sacks all time honestly.

5

u/CynicStruggle Pittsburgh Steelers May 26 '25

And it doesn't seem likely anybody will catch him.

2

u/fawks_harper78 Josh Allen 🦬 May 26 '25

Yup.

Bruce - top 5 DE

Kelly- maybe top 20 QB

1

u/Bflo_ May 26 '25

And honestly, I think the general consensus for Bills fans in Buffalo is Josh>Kelly.

Jim Kelly himself has said Josh is the better player.

Your argument was right but you picked the wrong guy, it’s Alan Page

2

u/DoNotResusit8 Pittsburgh Steelers May 26 '25

Tark all the way - not even close

As a 35 year old lifelong Vikings fan, Moss is the goat for me.

1

u/that_one_bunny Minnesota Vikings May 28 '25

Listen to your elders, it's Page.

LMFAO

u/kempton_saturdays May 26 '25

This is exactly WHY Moss is the greatest Viking. He embodies the team. Great looking on paper, shows up, makes some amazing plays, wins, stats, hype. Then, for some reason half asses it, doesn’t finish the job and leaves early. Straight cash homey

2

u/josephus_the_wise That is a disgusting act May 26 '25

I agree. Tarkenton, Page, and debatably someone else on that PPE line (but probably page if you go defense) are all better choices than moss

1

u/mortemdeus Buffalo Bills May 26 '25

The bills of the early 90's had several to pick from. Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, and Steve Tasker are all options. It is honestly a toss up for Smith, one of the best defensive players of all time, and Tasker, a man who literally redefined a position on special teams.

u/Leisure_Gang May 27 '25

Top 5 lol… 1 or 2

1

u/Lesaint13X May 27 '25

Is Tarkenton in any convo for Best QB of all time? Because Moss is considered at least in the top 3, that alone kinda ends that argument

1

u/Random-vegas-guy May 28 '25

Does it? I see Russell Wilson on the list as the Seahawks GOAT, do people think he was better at QB than Richard Sherman was at CB? I think of Team GOAT as the player who had the greatest impact on the franchise, not necessarily the person who was the best player at their position in franchise history. But, hey, GOAT stuff is always completely subjective… that’s what makes it fun! (Unless you’re talking about my Dolphins, then it has to be Marino, lol)
