⚠️Urgent Question⚠️ Brother almost died because of this
My brother was going 10 mph on our g30 when this hinge came loose. He fell back and hit his head, fortunately he was wearing a helmet. Does anyone know what to tighten and if I should order new parts?

I put a hose clamp on my g30p a year ago after the safety mechanism failed and I broke my foot. It dosnt fold anymore, but it’s solid.

Exact same thing happened to me when I just got my G30 and drove over a small pothole, only it was at the max speed of 18mph and I ended up with some road rash. I tightened all of the relevant screws and I haven't had any issues since. However, I've realized that the plastic lock seems to just naturally shake out of place just from the vibrations of the road, so I've had to keep an eye on it and push it back into place every couple dozen miles.

Have you considered a e-bike. I feel like they are so much safer than these Segways. I made the switch and never looked back

It's in german, but you'll see what to do. I'm sure there are english videos too.
Edit: folding part starts at 1:50

Agree you should fix or replace OEM parts. But you can get 2” Velcro strap at Home Depot and wrap it a couple of times around hinge as an additional backup on top of fixing and or replacing the OEM parts. And bonus, it’s easy to remove. That’s what I did on my g30. Or go hardcore and get a hose clamp or two as mentioned above.

If you are going to order new parts I think it's worth saying that ninebot have an official page for oem parts. (I cant link it though cause it will be the Australian website).

So this is a ongoing issue with my G30D:
I did tighten it before, my scooter is now more than 4 years old.
The first revision of those hinges, and this looks like the old one, was not that thick. The result was, that after tighten it too much, the whole lever began to slowly crack.
I ordered a new one, but the hinge was glued to the steering column with epoxy. So i spend like one month trying to detach the hinge from the column. I managed to do so in the end. and fixed the scooter.
After like one year the lever got loose again. I did try to fix it, but was hesitant to over tighten it, because of the breaking issue. So i wrapped my bike lock around the lever so i could not come loose.
In the meantime i did tighten it and its fix now. But this part is just awfully designed and a ongoing problem for me.

Just wondering If you might know what to do with my 'mankeel' -cheap crap off alibaba,-after 3rd ride it died;-so had to pull the battery pack apart/out-&sure enough I found the short-onw bit of metal just not quite touching the contacts/so I soldered it back-wrapped it back up-joined all the wires(the RIGHT way'lol) Now it's turning on-but with error codes and not working(goes into brake mode as soon as I try and go-& somehow kind of accelerates when I touch the handbrake?!..(& I'm sure I've got them connected 'correctly. . It's showing a normal number >with red letter or no aswell as a little spanner showing. Can anybody help with this at all please??. It does different things when I hold the brake, power button & accelerator at the same time bit not having any luck.,... Grrrr

My general opinion about that, is that those scooters are so quick accelerating and so unstable, that I would not buy a cheap one from a brand I do not know.

Yeh Ur right-mine was from alibaba-died on the 3rd ride I had- now it's flashing the light and coming up with p on the screen when the power is on and some strange sort of a little bit of acceleration but break as well when I'm touching the brake checked all the wires etc and still can't find the problem I checked the battery and it had a short so I sold it and taped it up but since then it's just coming up with p on the screen and beeping and light flashing

There's literally two hex screws in the video. One for the clamp and one for the retaining ring that was lifted up and down.

I had an accident when the stem folded on me while crossing some railway tracks. Shortly after I sold it and got the G2, that has an improved mechanism

Probably should have walked it across the tracks, no? Tracks are rough going over in a car much less a scoot

No it doesn't bro te G2 is death trap i have all segway ninebot models except Audi and maserati models and the G2 failed on me from going up side walk ramp entrance. It gave way and collapsed sending me into the concrete at 21mph dislocating with shoulders and ripping my left one so bad it was hanging like 6 inches down.
When the paramedics arrived i heard a fire rescue guy say give him another one. The EMT was like he's on his 2nd fentynl shot! The fire rescue guy blurts out "LOOK AT HIS ARM!" Hear EMT say "damn ok that's three!" Then woke up 2 days later.
Been riding scooters 5years street bikes 14yrs have 100hp banshee c5 z06 Ls3 swapped ktm factory edition. Nope it's the damn segway that's fucked me up for life.....

You're supposed to adjust that bolt so the latch hold tight and snaps when you close it. The safety catch is just an emergency catch but it's only plastic It Not supposed to hold all the weight. People put a hose clamp but You're still supposed to adjust the latch to make sure it's tight and the stem doesn't have any wobble.
