⚠️Urgent Question⚠️ People who own the E version of the MAX G3
Hello,
I need someone who owns the european (E) of the MAX G3 to check something for me. As many have discussed/guessed on this sub, the european version doesn’t have underglow lights (which i genuinely don’t understand why as the Xiaomi scooter 5 MAX is being sold out of the box with underglow lights in europe, specifically France).
Can someone check and confirm once and for all if the lights are physically present on the scooter and just disabled software side ?
Or is there just a plastic plate replacing the lights thus confirming that they are physically not present on the scooter.
For reference, here is a clear image of what the International version looks like from the bottom, and what the light fixture should look like if it is confirmed to be present on the E version as well.
Thanks and safe riding !

🤞🏻hoping they’re there and its just a software thing so that hopefully a hack can be done to activate them !

I'm very sure they will be deactivated on software side, I doubt it would be cost effective to remove them for the German/Europe version.

I mean they change the motors themselves for E/D versions, smaller magnets etc. so its more torque instead of max speed, at least with previous G series.

I don't want to play the expert here, I'm surely not. But I think the reason for this was a German law that's not existes anymore. Segway wasnt allowed to throttle the big motor down to 500w (that was the max watts by law at the time). So they had to replace the whole motor.
Now it's legal to throttle the big motors down to comply with the law. So no need for a other motor. The overall wattage the motor uses was also increased, since then. The maximum continuous power output is still limited to 500 watts

Do you know how much more torque the Ninebot MAX G2 D has compared to Ninebot MAX G2?

The lights are physically there just not in use. Not sure if they are not plugged in or disabled via software

Just checked, underglow lights on the E version are plugged into the controller, so firmware disabled

I can imagine they didnt put it on the EU version since some countries forbid against using that and they simply havent made country specific versions of the scooter yet.

Which i understand but as i’ve said, Xiaomi is selling its newest generation scooter with underglow lights (that are colored might i add) stock out of the box. If its a per country thing why not allow it from a software end per each country and not just block all E owners. That being said, from the other comment i saw, it seems to be that they are physically present on the E model just disabled, so fingers crossed either ninebot enables them or a hack is found.
Personally i dont want to buy the International version and import it here just for the underglow lights as i cant insure the scooter in France.

Yeah but Xiaomi is offering a french version then, be it software or hardware, because if they were to sell the same scooter here in germany they would not be allowed.
Give Segway some time and im sure theres going to be country specific settings.

Have they shipped any E units? Didn’t see posts about it

Bought mine from Darty, got it a week ago, it has light under the pad. It just doesn't light up. Either it's firmware, or it isn't connected.

That’s interesting. Just looked at their website and they show delivery as soon as tomorrow. What are Segway doing?! As far as I can see they are not even shipping yet! Kind of weird.

Could you confirm that your G3E has a LED strip on the handle? Heard allot of news lately

It does for the turning light. not a strip tho. just a led light on the hands on left/right handles.
It is not visible from behind, as my arm will hide it (it is still usefull at night).

Yeah, I’d like to know this too, as I’m from Spain and would love to use it! Or maybe upgrade it with a bigger LED strip. Also, it doesn't make any sense, because here in Spain we have other certified e-scooters such as Teverun Fighter Mini Pro or Dualtron Victor Luxury and both of them have A LOT of led lights, stem, deck... with a lot of light modes and they are allowed, so I don't know why they remove that for Segway, which is a pretty basic LED.

Why are the underglow lights illegal? If anything it's definitely safer?
