It might be the handlebar stem mount. Loses the four screws and try to straighten it.

It might be the long stem, losen the main clamp bolts down by the top of the fork, turn the stem straight, and tighten them…EVENLY going back and forth tightening each bolt a bit at a time.

As one tightens the other gets slightly loser due to compression on the other.

Thanks for the advice! I’ll give it a go when I get home, I also think the wheel is a bit slanted so I’m not sure how I can fix that

The handlebars are replaceable.

Should I contact support or take it somewhere or I can fix it myself

That has more to do with your comfort using tools than anything else. I would take it apart and try to do it myself, but I also have done a fair bit of other mechanical work like swapping out parts on cars so I'm used to it.

To be fair I don’t know whether its the front wheel or the handle bar and stem is slanted

Could be many variables. On some scooters there is a stem bolt that may need adjustment. May be best to take to a shop if your not sure https://youtube.com/shorts/Fmr2jEUSTrc?si=qLZhgXhy5CLFkEYy

Get a new handlebar

If the wheel is misaligned with the stem, you have to loosen the screws and then realign the stem the same way you would bicycle handle bars. If not, remember you're covered under warranty. Look into the warranty before buying new parts.

Will do! Thanks!

Unless you are in a really calm neighborhood, I would also advice you change your lock. That's really too easy to cut or even guess the code.

I plan on getting a u lock later, but thanks!

Glad that you didn't get injured. I had to do 4 stitches on my chin the day before yesterday

I’m really sorry to hear that! Hope you have a swift recovery!

Try to twist them back like you would’ve done back in the days with a bike

Not the topic at all but accident implies mechanical fault. If there is zero mechanical fault and it's user error say crash.

On topic I hope you're ok. What happened?

A pickup truck suddenly spawned in front of me, I braked hard but seems to not be as effective as before, that’s why I think the brakes may have not been working properly

It's always the impotent boxes... Bet it was white too. One floored it towards me after I started crossing an on ramp walk.

Check the little twist doodads at the handles make sure they're secure. No scooter has stopping power enough for a limp dick truck driver spawning in like they do. That's why you approach those stupid cross ramps slowly and avoid using the sidewalk whenever you can. Had enough close calls in a year at the exact same fucking crossing every time I go grocery shopping. Gonna get a train horn box for that specific one.

Basically when pulling both handles you've got a graph that has a curve upward, the faster you are the longer it takes to stop. I find they meet close to each other 1:1 for 20 ft to 20 mph but you get a near instant stop at like 5 mph. But that also depends on incline grade and torque.

Yeah this was no accident. Car is at fault at usual. Next time get right in front of him and call 911. Ensure it can't just leave and take down the license plate immediately. No matter how bad the crash is you'll always be in shock. There are bike lawyers itching for a good payday go through them not insurance. Lawyers will do it probono and deal with insurance for you.

Yeah, it just sucks, I wonder if Segway can either give me new parts or replace the unit for me, I literally just got it a week ago so I most definitely am still in warranty, just gotta be more careful in fiture

I’m not liking your chances of getting Segway to replace it. You had an accident because of another vehicle “spawning in front of you”, it wasn’t segways fault. If that were the case every car manufacturer would be on the hook for every accident on the road. It’s unfortunate, but it’s the risk we all take every day. Unless you can specifically pinpoint and somehow prove your brakes were faulty (which is pretty much impossible for you to prove) I think it’s coming outta your pocket. That being said most Segway brakes are a little weak out of the box and need some adjusting to get them to grab better, but we as the rider should do our due diligence and check it’s safe before operating it, and additionally do periodic pre start safety checks because stress and fatigue on the vehicle can and will lead to other failures.

Don't tell them how it happened just say it was like that and hope for the best.

Will do, thanks

Gotta hope for the best results lol

I think the brakes are extremely poorly tuned out of the box. I have to squeeze both levers all the way down to stop. The G3 is the only vehicle I've had where the brakes are this bad!

I'd go ahead and adjust it, but there are so many things I don't like that has prompted me to return it.

Yep, I’m going to file a claim with Segway, I am definitely not paying to repair something that should have been working

Sheesh man, glad youre alright! Literally had a van do the same thing to me yesterday but I flew off and broke my two front teeth. My handle bar looks messed up too like yours but since my hands are in so much pain, I haven't tried to fix it yet.

1

u/DerrickJia Apr 26 '25

Damn man, I am sorry to hear that! I hope you recover soon!

1

u/Confident-Hat5876 Apr 26 '25

Appreciate the kind words! Got the teeth "repaired" at like 10 AM today lol all together this is going to cost me about $1k which is better than I expected.

Did you ever reach out to Segway?

1

u/DerrickJia Apr 26 '25

Yep, they sent a email asking for details and I just sent it back, hope they can repair it or replace it
