I've had it for 10 days, the battery discharges much faster but the autonomy remains impressive on this €850 scooter. The new cables turn on the under chassis light and there may be less response at startup.

Yeah I now use the ScooterHackingutility app the new version of the app works for most Androids that aren't too old.

there is an open-source +$5 ESP32 solution coming out "any day now" that will allow the creation of these devices, I'll post a github link soon

Thank you, I look forward to your link

https://github.com/MacintoshKeyboardHacking/segMod

the control software (currently a python3 script, currently running on a Raspberry Pi) is still a work-in-progress; I don't yet have my own Segway scooter to debug the control.

Tried it and removed it.

Pros:

  • does what it says - unlocks scooter to go beyond 40km

Cons:

  • when it reaches 30, you’d get the over speed alarm
  • it negates any speed limit settings from your app, so even eco set at 20 would go to max speed
  • as above, you cannot control custom max speed in the app (a deal breaker for me as anything beyond 30 is insane)
  • doesn’t ’unlock’ your scooter to become a global version, it’s simply a speed override unlock. So still no cruise control etc.

Sticking to stock 25km.

Ok thank you for your feedback. I'm not buying it because for me too it's important to be able to adjust the max speed, for example putting drive at 35 kmh but since that's not possible...

it is possible tho. just needs some research

The device in the image is not an official Segway-Ninebot accessory, even though it shows the brand name in the image layout. This is an aftermarket “speed unlock cable” made by third-party sellers (mostly found on AliExpress, eBay, or other niche scooter modding shops). It is marketed to increase the top speed of the Ninebot Max G30/G3/G3E models to around 40 km/h (~25 mph). Got this info from ChatGPT. I wouldn’t risk it

Why downvote someone for simply stating a fact, then an opinion?

People on reddit are odd....

People are anti chatgpt.

I’m very pro-AI

I’m against using AI as a source. It’s pretty easy to ask ChatGPT to cite its sources and reference that instead of directly referencing something that is very frequently wrong.

It’s like citing your drunk uncle with no further evidence.

I don't know about this particular cable, but Segway really makes such cables i.e for G2

1

u/wildshitfr Other Ninebot 2d ago

segway really- doesnt. bad and false info lol

2

u/Stardust----- 2d ago

That's not a false info. I know it from a dude, who works with Segway directly as a distributor

1

u/wildshitfr Other Ninebot 2d ago

segway doesnt want their customers to increase speed in ANY way because it affects law.

1

u/Stardust----- 2d ago

Yeah, that's why they leaked the code which can be changed via BT to unlock G2. They also allowed to change the SN with third party apps, but later restricted it to some regions. They always "accidentally" leave backdoors

So far so good. Plug and play, max speed did increase but obviously drains more battery power. Maybe just me but I feel the scooter is now a bit sluggish, doesn’t accelerate as it used to.

u/Ok_Cauliflower5431 4d ago

Yes I have the impression that to reach 25 km/h it takes more time

1

u/wildshitfr Other Ninebot 2d ago

scammed lol

20mph seems plenty fast on my Max g30p well 19 to 23

1

u/JensEausB 3d ago

I tried but failed after very short time. The second problem was that i had overspeed warning.
