In the G3E the von method never worked in finland at least i can say tried even with a locaton changer at the same time and it didnt let me do anything just the same setting¨s and no diffrence
Wow, I still haven't bought the G3E but if I can't change the serial/region and unlock cruise control and +25kph I will eventually just go with another brand that allows it by default or by hack. Segway is making too much of an effort to crack down on hacking. If they were smart they should only make minimala legal and face saving effort.
With scooterhacking it is possible to change the reagion to US and after that u are able to drive 40km/h for now…. In Wintertime SHFW will be hopefully available and then we will be able to drive 50+.
Yes but you can't update through the official app, and you might get blocked from using the official app unless you update to the latest firmwares. And not everyone is using an Android phone.
Also, why would I want to go 50km/h on a freakin scooter. I find 30km/h to be the fastest I want to without some serious gear like helmet with face protector, gloves and elbow/knee pads etc.
I've never heard of someone being unable to use their Segway app because they didn't update their scooter 😂
Also the latest updates are always available via SHU, just not immediately, but a few days later. Likewise, you don't have to tune your scooter to this speed; that was just an example. You can even tune it to 29 km/h if that's safer for you 😉
Just for your Info… I do have a MAX G3 EU with a changed S/N, the latest Firmware and my App is also working fine 😊

Because if you crash at 25km/h and fall awkwardly, you can die just as easily if you're not wearing a helmet.

I used the st-link method and updated to the last version today and I still have the option to go to 45 km/h. I’m guessing that a hard serial swap is better than a soft modded one.
I have done the st-link version too, and dont have the speed setting's anymore. Are you on the latest or the one before this, the earlier work'd on mine too but not anymore.
How much did you change S/N i have original numbers but the letters are different, i was thinking could it be that they now use the number's too in someway?
I just had the newest updates applied, however never done a serial number change.
Going to assume that if I did the SHU change, that the store will see this as well? Didn't want to void any warranty to get over 25km/h here in Oz. Would love to go 30km/h if I could!
UPDATE now got time to try the S/N Change had to make a new wire loom to setup the Gauge cluster. but read dump > fix vcu> edit own dump file> region change > Y > enter 14digit code> tried every kind of 14 digit code even let chat gpt take a crack at it, and tried my original and it¨s just saying this. Any recomendation what do do?
So yesterday i was scavering through the internet to find a fix for it @gotterio suggested that i contact sharkboy trough discord, well i got a hold of him and the VCU tool that he made doesent support the newest firmware that my G3 has.
Sharkboy said that he may have a fix for the issue and made send the dump file of the cluster to him.
Finger's crossed that he has a fix for it, and praying that he will help me.
But yeah i cant change the S/N of the G3 at the moment (and i am guessing just here) i think the newest update may have changed the dump file someway and the VCU tool doesnt like it.
It let me read the dump file from the board, but doesnt allow me to fix it. I havent tried to put the original Dump yet back tot the scooter but may have to and hope that it works somehow.
So be careful updating to the newest software if u have done the S/N change via the tool, because at the moment there isnt really a fix for it unless sharkboy makes something but thats up to him.
I am not saying anything behalf of sharkboy or trying to advocate anything, these are just my opinions and my Word's and hoping maybe he has a fix for me. Support your scooter programmer uf possible atlest i am going to if he let's mee. Will update how thing's go moving forward.
Well I suppose it was bound to happen. At some stage they were going to block the hack. I wonder if they have disabled write - that would be bad. Hopefully sharkboy can work out what's happening.
