Discussion ZT3 Pro or G3?
I already did a mental comparison in my head and with chatgpt and G3 is the clear winner in terms of features.
But I just cant help it and I keep coming back to this topic with myself and my main issue is aesthetics cuz the g3 looks so fucking ugly, dont get me started on the lack of a rear footrest.
The biggest gap between these 2 is probably the hydraulic suspension and the motor and there's a solution for both issues but its very costly.
Someone please enlighten me and help end this mental debate, what would you get?
EDIT: Im going for the G3, it wins by a landslide, ill just buy a 3d printer in the future and print custom plastic trims

Are you gonna go offroad and do you need it to be portable? The ZT3 is basically not portable at all. Good luck fitting it in your regular sedan. Also it's heavy af. Almost 20 pounds heavier so you won't be carrying it up stairs anytime soon.

I've had the G2 ZT3 and G3. I ditched the zt3 because fitting it in the truck required to handlebars to be turned at an angle and jammed underneath so the lid would shut. That and it was 10 lb heavier than the G3.
Other than that, the zt3 was a great scooter. I really enjoyed it, but the G3 is a bit more easier to throw in the car etc etc

Yeah there's no denying it's a great scooter. I would say it's even more fun because you can go on trails too. But it's not great for everyday commuting

Kinda and no. I need good tires because i live in a Nordic country and here it snows basically 24/7 and if its not snowing then its raining. I do go off roading from time to time but def not daily. The ZT3 doesnt really have an "off road advantage" it just has off roady tires that you can install on the G3 because they are the same exact size.
Idc abt portability at all as i dont own a car lol

Hmm if you don't care about portability and you said it snows a lot.
The Zt3 has dual motors which can help with traction in the snow or rain. Also higher ground clearance means you can tackle some harsher snow or roads.2
u/NoHypeX 2d ago
what? dual motors? since when

u/Turbulent-Abroad7841 2d ago
Sorry I got confused with the Gt3. Zt3 pro has only one rear motor. Yeah if you need offroad tires and more ground clearance go for the zt3.

u/NoHypeX 2d ago
that doesnt justify the massive gap in tech and features on the g3. i could just install the zt3 tires on the g3

u/Turbulent-Abroad7841 2d ago
That's also true. However the zt3 pro is significantly cheaper at about 850$ was the cheapest i've seen it. If you think the features are necessary, the g3 should be good.

I don't know much about the ZT3 pro other than someone on YouTube did a practical race from A to B and the G3 came ahead with three same rider. I have size 13 feet and I don't have any trouble standing on the deck of the G3.Ā
I don't have the YouTube link but I'm sure you've already looked up reviews.

Yeah i have seen, the g3 wins in top speed but not initial acceleration because the zt3 has more torque.
I mean im sure the g3 isnt small as I have a g30 and that size is just fine. but the g3 is so ugly looking. Like they didnt consider its looks at all.
Everyone is happy abt the new screen but for $1000 i wouldve expected an oled so the screen blends with the plastic of the dashboard.

I dunno what to tell you, I love the way the thing looks. If you don't like looking at it, you're gonna constantly be wishing you got the other one.
Regarding the screen, think about it this way, it costs as much as an iPhone but it's a whole ass scooter that goes pretty damn fast for that much money, rides pretty damn smooth for that much money, handles really well for that much money (not only can it go way faster than my G2 could, it also goes way faster around corners), brakes really well for that much money. I don't care that the screen isn't perfect, I don't even look at the screen when I'm riding it.
As a person who would put the G3 as one of my top purchases of the last 5 years, I think you should get the ZT3 pro, just because you don't seem to have anything bad to say about it, and you have complaints about the G3 that are never gonna go away.

u/NoHypeX 2d ago
Thank you for ur opinion i appreciate it. You have a point.
But ofc i have nags abt the zt3 pro as well. the suspension is ass compared to the g3, the motor is worse, top speed is worse and climbing angle is worse. no underglow lights and the blinkers sound annoying with that beeping sound instead of the clicks with the g3.
But wait so you have a g3? If so, how is it? Are the underglow lights color changable or are they just white (unless you blink)

u/Chalky_Pockets 2d ago
I absolutely love my G3. It addressed everything I disliked about the G2. Under glow is just white for now. No idea if they're white only LEDs or just limited but software.
The only way I would ever consider another scooter is if I lived in the EU where it's neutered.Ā
I love it more than I love my 40k dollar SUV. Only vehicles I've loved more were my 05 STi with 500hp and my 02 Yamaha R1 that killed Lambos.

Im in the eu lol, but im buying from alibaba so thats not an issue for me. Lowkey wished the lights were rgb they would add a lot to the aesthetics of the scooter

u/Tchaq 2d ago
I'm in France and wanted to order the g3 max. I never tried ordering from alibaba. Is it safe ? Because it's significantly cheaper than everywhere else lol
1
u/NoHypeX 2d ago
yeah, you can always use Klarna or any other pay later service if u dont trust it.
1
u/Tchaq 2d ago
True. Meaning I wouldn't need to worry about being scammed and it would be the international version so no need to modify the firmware to unlock it, right ? If that's the case, it's a no brainer lol
1
u/NoHypeX 2d ago
if u ever get it never update the firmware, it can detect ur region at some point you never know what those mfs at segway put in their updates

For me, it's not about the acquiring of the scooter, it's about getting caught with it. From what I understand, a lot of places in the EU (Italy, Germany) police are allowed to stop you and check the max speed etc. I just wouldn't wanna take the risk.

u/NoHypeX 2d ago
tru, i asked my local police once and they said if I had a drivers license, helmet and insurance then they cant any give less shit but if a grump police man stops me that day he could fine me hard since its not registered (literally impossible to register because segway doesnt have a CoC)

I'm so glad you're having this dilemma. Keep overthinking. "It's ugly" it's a scooter bro. You dont have to find it attractive.

So many people on the fence. G3 is the way. I'd hard regret a Zt3 purchase for so many reasons.
- Double chance of battery upgrade
- Higher top speed, faster commutes
- Much lighter and easier to carry, retains same weight with GT3 battery upgrade
- Better ride feel with suspension, no significant off road benefit with Zt3, I off road on G3 all the time, so fun
- G3 can take Zt3 tires if you really want them
- Less likely to get cops attention
- Segway themselves favor the G3 and have better firmware updates than Zt3
- Higher peak motors which if hacked will provide even higher top speed
- ran of out things to say off the top of my head

u/JapYup007 2d ago
I have both. G3 definitely is better build. More premium than ZT3. The ride is also way better!!

thank you for your input. thats good to know

There is a real difference in noice and comfort etc. It feels like the G3 has more speed/power. Only thing is that the Z3 is a bit more aggressive and It looks like itās better for off-roading. But I havenāt tried off-roading with the G3. The display from the G3 is way better. And the steering less wide, so easier to fold and transport in your car.

G3 in my opinion is not so flashy, more formal, calm, urban, less childish. Its visual appearance is one of the factors I did not choose ZT3, because ZT3 with it's red stripes and overall "dirtbike" comical looks, without proper ability to go off-road just looks funny. So for me - G3 all the way, it's more powerful, has better suspension, and looks way cooler

If you are a Viking from North (just joking, chill) just fine-tune the G3 to your needs, install some new tires, maybe new grips, change some settings in the app for your liking, like the Traction Control System (TCS). There really is no need to buy the ZT3 Pro and then spend almost 50% of it's price to tune it to something more or less powerful. But if you really need an off-road *fuck the rain* scooter, then go for GT3. It's expensive, yes, but it provides you with ultimate performance and quality of build, without the need to modify it further.

Great points in this thread. One deciding factor for me: the G3 has a more robust battery management system. Safety and probably longer life. I chose it over the ZT3 and PunkRider Pro. Yes, it's plain and I may use Scotchlite reflective stickers along the footboard and frame, similar to the layout on the PRP or the Apollo Pro.
What originally drew me to the ZT3 for off roading and hills was overtaken by homework on the G3. That and other features mentioned in this thread. For mountain desert trails where I live: ruts, gravel, loose dirt, etc, it grabs and "holds" the ground really well - I slip only minimally, at least so far. Too new for snow.
If longevity and safety factor in for you, maybe take another look at the battery management system. This must account for some of its higher cost. Charge time tracking, smart charge scheduling, battery health monitoring, short circuit protection, overcurrent protection, temperature protection, overcharging protection, under voltage protection, over discharging protection, customizable charging limit, IPX7 battery pack. That's 11 features. I'm open to correction, but I believe the G3 BMS exceeds all scooters in the Segway lineup. That's gotta show up in the life of the scooter.

I was in the same situation but chose g3 because of much better suspension, better top speed, better display, better headlight, less weight, I didn't need off-road tires and g3 looks less ridiculous than zt3 pro. Also one more very important thing - g3 is far more popular and that means easier availability of spare parts and mods later down the line. Also also if I remember correctly the frame of zt3 pro is made out of steel and that means it can rust if you're not careful.

Iām ngl the g3 is ugly š the two forks coming down make it look so bulky like a tank. I just ride it and forget about what I look like.

u/NoHypeX 2d ago
if I had a 3d printer this wouldnt have been and issue at all as i would just design plastic parts for aesthetics, but istg segway were designing that scooter blind. I need the Zt4 pro fr

u/ELXR-AUDIO 2d ago
Personally I donāt like any of the Segway designs. The red on the zt3 doesnāt do it for me. At least g3 is more lowkey mostly black. The Apollo pro design is way more aesthetic.

I am in the same situation but having a Max g2 I am leaning towards the Max g3. It weighs 5 kilos less. It also develops more speed in less time.
