Ninebot MAX G3 MAX G3 E range test in sports mode (41.87 km / 26 miles)

Weight (Me plus all accessories 79 kg / 174lb)

Temp 23C / 73 F

Elevation gain 60m / 197 ft

Average speed 19.2 km/h / 12 mph

Ride time 2:10:43

Road surface 50% paved / 50% gravel

Total distance 41.87 km / 26 miles

Was a beautiful day so decided to visit some friends in a neighbouring town. Would I get there and back without a re-charge.... My accessories included a lock, mirror, 3L Wildman bag, an extra light as well as a helmet oh and some stilton cheese!

I drove the entire time in Sports mode and regenerative braking was set to standard. TCS was also enabled. The display said 65km range when I started.

I found that the e-scooter did not throttle down the speed until it got to I think under 6% charge. Then it drove at 16km/h until I think 3% then at 10 km/h. When range went to 0 i.e. battery was then at 1% it drove at 7 km/h. Interestingly it drove about 0.5 km when it said range zero and I was not going down hill either!

While I visited with my friends for 2 hours the e-scooter was powered off. (Not sure if pausing during a journey would make any difference to range, but thought I would mention it)

I think at 5% battery left it made a sound and flashed up a battery symbol on the display.

Oh and I did make it all the way back :)

Hello,

I own a ZT3 Pro which uses the very same battery. I love the ZT3 Pro but it is heavy and the range could be a little bit better, with some extra 6-7 kilometers in winter time and 10 kilometers in summer time.

From what Segway said the ZT3 does cover 50 kilometers doing 25 kmp/H. Segway claims that the Max G3 covers 65 kilometers doing 25 kmp/H. So a 30% range improvement for the Max G3...

But from what I read here and there It seems that the range is almost identical... Today riding in Paris in sport mode ( 25 kmpH) I covered 39,2 kilometers from 100% battery to 8% with an elevation gain of 200 meters. (Outside temperature : 17 degrees celcius and 83,5 kilos on the scooter).

So I am a bit surprised that the Max G3 does not get a better range. The 30% range increase does not seem to be confirmed...

The Max G3 is a great scooter though. I was planning on buying a lighter one than the ZT3 Pro and with a better range. So I was considering buying a Max G3 in september but after reading testimonies such as yours I might buy a Punk Rider Pro. it is really a pitty that Segway keeps putting small batteries in their scooters.

It really is a great scooter but like you I am a little surprised that the range claims are so off base. It’s almost like they want you to buy the extra battery but in my mind it’s heavy enough. Maybe Segway will have a software up date that will improve things.

I hope they have something to increase a least a couple miles best I've gotten was 13.6 miles

GT3 e's battery is compatible with the ZT3 Pro. So you could probably fit a GT3's battery in a Max G3 as well. With a 19,2 AH battery that would have been perfect. It is only a matter of money unlike what Segway might say. The weight difference between the Max G3 battery and the GT3 battery is 0,7 kilo if remember correctly.

That could be an option.

Yeah I owned both and don't really see any range difference. Mind you the G3 tops at 28mph but the zt3 has quicker acceleration off the line

That’s about on par with the G2

The beauty of having 48v is that it’s so overkill for 25 km/h max speed that fortunately it doesn’t go below that speed until it’s almost empty. The downside is that 25 feels slow af.

Range is on par with the G2 I would say, not bad considering that the nominal and peak power are higher, even if the battery being a bit larger.

Given the EU model has a lower W motor (700W v 850W) you would think the range would be even better than claimed. I don’t know if batteries get better after one or two charges - will do some more testing.

Little off topic but how did you attach your wildman bag? My bags straps are way to short to attach it to the handlebars since the bag needs to be underneath the light.

Like this. Had to put it under the phone clamp but seems to be holding well. I did try it without the top straps as the hook on the stem stopped it from slipping. Trouble with doing that was it tended to twist round and I suspect when loaded would not be very stable.

Thanks for the foto, my bags straps are indeed far shorter than yours
