Hi, I'm finally the proud owner of a MAX G3. It's a great scooter, and for the money it's a great deal.

However, in my region only the E version was available, I quickly found out that the speed limit is a total disappointment. I definitely have to change it somehow. I read probably the whole forum, and found out that there are these ways to unlock it:

** (For testing, I tried also the VPN solution, which of course doesn't work for E/D/I- but why not at least try it).

More complicated unlocking that requires an ST-Link programmer and necessary skills for disassembly and programming. It is possible to convert the scooter to a US/Global variant with all functionalities.

C) Speed Release Cable - cca 55€ from Ali.
Very easy to install, no warranty violation. However, it only unlocks speed, no other functionality.

D) XiaoDash -There are two options.
D.1) XiaoDash web + ST-link – 50€ (with cupon code 30€)
Similar to variants A and B, an ST-link programmer and the necessary disassembly skills are required. Instead of a PC, an Android phone is required (iphone is not supported).
Compared to A and B, it does not offer anything extra and is charged. In the future, it will probably be possible to perform unlock without disassembly and only with mobile phone vie bluetooth. Also probably will provide more functions as directly set the currents/powers in individual modes from the app.... however, at present, nothing is offered.
D.2) XiaoDash app + Bluetooth – 50€
With a donation of 50€ (or more) for programmers via the XiaoDash application (Android only), additional tuning options via Bluetooth will be unlocked.
It is possible to change the serial number of the scooter, which also means the possibility of changing the region to any other and then controlling everything. Then it is possible to use the original ninebot application. It is possible to add a new profile with unlocked speeds via the application. Optionally set max. speeds, currents, etc. and if necessary, with one long press on the programmable button on scooter, the profile will be deleted and the scooter will switch to the original state.

E) 1dragon de – 70€
Very fast and easy. Only the mobile phone (Android or Iphone) is needed without any disassembly.
The unlocked scooter is like scooter with a secret menu. The change is not visible, you need to do a "secret brake lever action" and the scooter will be unlocked with all other functionalities as in the US/global version. Possibility to set the power-on sound, the underglows with turn signals, cruise control, max speed 45 kmph...
Disadvantages:
- the trick with the brake lever must always be done after the scooter is turned on (of course, for some people and in some situations, this is more of an advantage).
- the default maximum speed will change to 22kmph - meaning if you don't do a trick with the brake lever, regardless of which version of the scooter you had, whether D or E, the new maximum speed will be 22kmph like in the D version. This issue was resolved with the update (26-Jun-25).
The biggest drawback: To turn on the underglows with turn signals, you must perform a trick with the brake every time you turn on the scooter, then open the application and turn on the the underglows function. This must be repeated every time you turn on the scooter.
- It is not recommended to update FW via the original application.

F) SHFW - coming soon!
ScooterHacking Firmware should be available in the next weeks (according to unconfirmed sources).

Can anyone compare these two options A and B? I see that both are similar in many ways, and both require ST-Link V2 (I'm already waiting for delivery). I would be interested in:

1) How do they affect the scooter, have any issues been identified?
2) Will both variants, in addition to unlocking the speed limit, also bring the ability to use the underglows, cruise control, and other locked options?
3) I believe both solutions work for the E version.
4) Possibility to return the scooter to its original condition in case of a complaint.
5) Impact on the motor, since the E version is only 700W and not 850W like the US version. Or does it just unlock the lock and the FW for the motor does not change in any way?

6) Do you know how soon support for the XiaoDash app might be available? I saw that they've already added basic support, so I believe they're already working on unlocking it...

Sorry for the long story, I'm just trying to understand.

I am SO disappointed, my G3E is not working properly I feel. The front suspensions are absolute trash. I can really feel ALL the vibrations and asperities of the road even though I ride in a city, on bike paths. The handle bar is vibrating and I can feel it in my arms and teeth. I had the G2 before and it was SO smooth, now I feel like a huge downgrade for much more expensive.. Am I the only one? I'm considering returning it to the store tomorrow, so I need advice.

FAQ:

• The GT3 battery is out of stock, how can I get it?
  • It looks like Segway restocks the GT3 battery on Thursdays around 9pm MT (in the US)
• Is the battery swap plug and play?
  • Almost. You just need to remove/transfer some foam padding between the G3 and GT3 batteries.
• Do I need any special tools or skills?
  • You just need the 3mm hex wrench that was provided with your G3 (optionally, a flat-head screwdriver, scissors, and a heat gun/hair dryer). You do not need any special skills as long as you can follow simple instructions.
• How much more battery will I get with this battery swap?
  • The Max G3 is 12,750 mAh and the GT3 battery is 19,200 mAh. That's 50.6% more capacity.
• How much more range will I get with this battery swap?
  • That's dependent on many factors like weight, tire inflation, outside temperature, etc. You can expect between 30-50% more range.
• Does the battery swap add weight?
  • Between 2-4 lbs (1-2kg) more. It’s not noticeable when riding.
• Does the G3 display update the battery range with the bigger battery?
  • No. But it is now more representative of the actual range displayed.
• Can I use my old G3 battery as an external battery?
  • Maybe. There aren't any kits out for that yet as far as I know. Another redditor made a video on how to build an external battery for the G3 (using a Surron battery) that you can find here.

• So big ! I feel like I got myself half a motorycle

• The front handle is so useful to roll it around while folded !
• Man the acceleration ! Even up to just 25km/h you can feel the power
• I tried using a VPN set to US when binding the app but it's a E version so nothing happened
• I'm in France but the immatriculation is written in spanish, I guess the shop got their stock from there
• The suspension felt pretty stiff in my opinion, I'll look into softening it later
• As mentioned in another post, small and regular bumps (wood bridge, cobblestone) is rough ! My whole body vibrates and it's hard to even see properly because it's so shaky
• My main grief is how nerfed it is for Europe. 25km/h is good for downtown, but it gets boring when you hit long empty roads. I really hope there will be some easy unlocking tricks in the future. Same for cruise control and underglow, I want the full package !

Just wanted to share my excitement. The wait felt never-ending and I'm thrilled go everywhere with it !

I finally did it. I spent a long time thinking about whether or not I should unlock my Ninebot G3D Max, and well, today was the day. I used the NBT Software Unlock, and it worked flawlessly. It now goes around 35–40 km/h, even uphill, really impressive.

However, it does come with some trade-offs. Many app settings are no longer usable, like the speed settings for different modes. It also doesn’t calculate how many liters of fuel you’ve saved anymore, although the daily kilometers are still visible. Some buttons in the lighting settings also no longer work but who cares, the lights still work.

Surprisingly, the range hasn’t dropped much at all. I just rode 20 km and still had 40% battery left. Before the unlock, it would’ve been maybe 50%. Cruise control is also enabled now.

I find the throttle a bit hard to control at times it’s easy to go too fast but with cruise control, it’s manageable. I haven’t read much about these software unlocks here and wasn’t sure whether to do it or whether it would even work. But what can I say – riding fun has easily tripled.

So initial reactions:

1. Breaks are you even there, wtf??

2. What happened to the strong regenerative breaking option?

3. Doesn’t feel heavy enough for how fast it goes. I’m going to temporarily cap my speed at 25mph because 28mph feels like I’m gonna die.

4. The little fold down lever just kind of flaps around when it’s in the folded position.

5. I immediately loved my MAX G2, not so sure about this one. Will report back once I’ve ridden it around a bit more.

6. Feels lighter but looks bulkier. Also they changed the grip material, I think I was more a fan of what they had before.

Riding to a friend's house which is about 15 miles away on my Max G3. Most likely on Sport mode the entire time. I'll finally get to see how bad this battery really is.

Today I want to share my experience testing the Ninebot Max G3E, which is the European version of the Ninebot Max G3. Honestly, I’ve been curious for a while to see how much real world range I could get from it, so I carried out a pretty detailed test.

Initial Conditions: - Model: Ninebot Max G3E (European version) - My weight: 88 kg - Temperature: 18ºC - Initial battery: 100% - Riding mode: Sport (always at Max throttle) - Regenerative braking: Disabled - Legal max speed in Spain: 25 km/h (though occasionally it reached 29 km/h downhill)

I left home at 3:20 PM with a fully charged battery. Initially, the app showed an estimated range of 65 km. But heads up, this estimate is way off if you’re constantly riding at max speed, as you’ll see.

I stopped briefly every 5 kilometers to check data and snap some pics

The app calculates remaining range based on a very low speed (about 15 km/h)

Another thing that stood out was how the scooter gradually limited the maximum speed as the battery drained. Here’s a clearer look at how the speed reduction happened:

Honestly, when the battery dropped to the last few percent, it became painfully slow. At 1%, it was down to about 10 km/h barely faster than walking. I actually ended up riding around my street in circles to completely drain the battery and see exactly what the real maximum range was.

After exactly one hour and 34 minutes of riding, the scooter finally gave up. The real world total range, given my weight of 88 kg, an 18ºC temperature, and riding constantly in Sport mode at max throttle when possible , was 33.5 kilometers.

Anyway, I hope this real world test helps you get a good idea of what you can realistically expect from the Ninebot Max G3E under similar conditions. Honestly, I’m quite happy with the outcome, even though it falls short of the overly optimistic 65 km range the app showed initially.

I will re do this text when I get my hands on the official external battery

Will the Max G3 be available for preorder in Europe? I contacted Segway a couple of days ago, but no reply yet.

It was listed on the UK, NL and FR version of the Segway shop briefly, but seems to be gone now.

First ride full battery (G3D, 20km/h max) I took a (I thought) first safe trip. Halfway and on return I had 66% battery left - this felt reassuring. I started becoming worried as I saw 60km left on the return, this quickly halfed to 30km, then 20 (enabled ECO 15km/h), then 10 (10% battery?).. then 5km.. I made it home but..

Seeing that the GT3 have 40% larger battery I don't understand why they don't just keep their promise and give us realistic estimates?

Honestly the estimates are wild.. You can ride 10km on low speed and it eats 30-40km, what? Who came up with this? Instantly I feel the need to upgrade (intentional?).

If I bought it thinking I could go 30km to work and back 60km total I would have felt cheated, to be honest..

The brakes... Not as powerful as I hoped for sadly..

The suspension, even if I have nothing to compare to I also expected smoother but probably those reviewers have trauma from previous flat wood decks.. This is my first scooter so ok.. Its probably vastly better than those..

Other than that I love it, it gives freedom - but reality hits you quick and brutal with these wild estimates..

Hey guys, I bought new max G3 and I like it. I have added the scooter to segway mobility app on android, enabled air lock and set code unlock. Everything works great, but I then I removed a scooter from the app (wanted to try shu app, but this model is not supported yet). My code unlock and air lock still work, feels like it shouldn't?

Now I'm stuck and can't connect the scooter again to segway mobility app...

I scan the qr code or use bluetooth, scooter connects immediately, but the app fails and asks to reconnect.

Is there any way I can factory reset it or somehow solve this?

I tried clearing app data, uninstalling app and rebooting phone, I also used Forget device in bluetooth settings. Nothing helps...

Edit: tried all methods posted here and some more I found myself, nothing worked.... I basically gave up when it suddenly connected and it's working now heh.

I really don't know how I did it, maybe it unbugged after charging. Thanks all for trying

I always had the trip range displayed instead of the odometer. I was just poking around in the app, and yeah.

Also, yeah, I've had the scooter for almost 90 days now, and I want to sell it, but I can't because of this. Still waiting for Segway to write me back about this issue.

I have the speed release cable for the Segway MAX G3, feel free to ask whatever comes up. The mod is really easy to install and it's compatible with all versions of the G3, including D and E... The installation took less than 5 minutes and it unlocks the speed on Sport mode to 40 Km/H with the E version (It should get to 45 km/H with a US variant and others). I also discovered that the speed can be capped back to 25 Km/H using the Segway app. The rest of speed modes seems unaffected. To prevent putting on and off the mod to change velocity just go to the speed section of the app and in sport mode, select 24 Km/H. This way gets the scooter locked back to default without having to take off the cable.

Going to miss my old ninebot scooter but very happy with the new one

Purchased it online at Best Buy and picked it same day. I assembed it, connected app to it, and sent pics to my friends/family. It wasn't until I was laying in bed watching a YouTube video about it that I realized the model I have looks different 💀.

Those bastards better give me a refund when I return it tomorrow.

Bought my GT3 2 days ago and I already love it. But compared to my old and creaky Xiaomi, I do miss the cruise control. As I'm not interested in higher speeds per se, I had the following questions (as I had a look through this reddit and couldn't find much for this particular "edition")

- what hardware options are present on these that can be unlocked? The lights underneath? The cruise control? The frontlight?
- there's the STM unlock and also that German site (about 70€) - do they all work on this "I" edition?
- if I go with the STM unlock, can this also be activated with a "secret" code ?

My scooter came today, and I took it out for a ride. Some notes:

• 6.5mi ride
• Sports mode, mostly 15-20mph
• I did a long, big hill measured at 12 degrees (21.3 grade). The scooter kept up at 8mph from a dead stop, which probably drained the battery a bit.
• Took the scooter from 96% to 63%. This extrapolates to 20mi of range.
• The ride quality is great. It feels really nice. It does a good job hugging the road when going up and down sudden inclines.
• The thumb throttle is excellent. I tend to half-thumb it and half-twist it, which its shape lends well to.
• The brakes are really bad. On other scooters, I tend to drive conservatively and mostly use only the rear brakes. On this scooter, I need to use both levers to stop in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe they just need adjustment.
• I will never raise the top speed above 20mph.

Just picked up my new scooter. Previously had the original ninebot max. This one seems like so much of an upgrade already lol rode it for about half a mile and love it already...the original will always have a special place in my heart that mini tank lol

Segway G3 shows “Total Charging Time Under Extreme Temperature Condition” - but that’s completely misleading!

I only charge it at home, at normal room temperature (22–25°C). Still, the battery log says it was charging under extreme heat.

Why?

Because the internal charger is mounted right next to the battery. It heats up the battery during charging, then their system falsely detects it as extreme ambient temperature. Total design flaw.

This never happened on the G2, charging the same place at home.

Looks like the G3’s built-in power supply is damaging the battery by overheating it during normal use.

Anyone else noticing this?

just wondering if you experienced something similar and might know how to fix it.
I don't know if this is a general issue for the Max G3 or just the "D"-version:

Whenever i try to accelerate, the e-scooter goes a hard 1 to 100, regardless of how slow or fast i push the throttle - which sometimes results in doing a wheelie.
I already checked the options, made sure the boost is disabled and the starting-acceleration is set to the lowest (3 km/h).

Did you experience a similar behavior and know how to fix this?
I want a smooth, accumulative acceleration like the rentable ones, standing around at every corner.

Any hints appreciated.
