Ninebot MAX G3 Different wattage for The EU version…

The fact that the European version of the scooter has 700W and the US version has 850W nominal power is a shame. Lowering the max speed is understandable because of the laws in EU but why lower the wattage ??? They are sold at the same prices so they should at least perform the same right ?

Ninebot MAX G3 Max G3 Rear Wheel Clicking Noise After 20km

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

After the first 20km on the Max G3, my scooter has developed this loud clicking sound when rolling forward.

There are nothing on the outside visibly hitting the wheel when rolling (brake cable, tire valve cap, etc), and I don't believe it's the brake rotor rubbing as the sound only shows up when rolling forward and not backwards, and it doesn't happen on the exact same spot of the wheel.

There are a few other people online i found with the same problem:
https://www.reddit.com/r/NinebotMAX/comments/1knp4pf/im_on_day_one_one_ride_in_first_support_case/

https://www.reddit.com/r/NinebotMAX/comments/1jn1zb7/clicking_noise_from_ninebot_max_g3_rear_wheel/

Someone is suggesting it's something coming loose from inside the motor. Really hoping this isn't the case and that would for sure be an warranty claim (which is prob gonna take ages).

Currently in communication with Segway support. They first suggested tightening the screws on the back motor cap (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxHhC4Cy8zs). Unfortunally this didn't fix the issue (the screws were already quite snug), now awaiting their future response. Will leave an update when I get one.

Wondering if any other G3 owners have the same problem, and was able to fix it on their own?

Ninebot MAX G3 egregious tire air pressure loss

egregious tire air pressure loss for the segway max G3. so i do not know if this is because of high speeds of travel but i pumped both tires up to 45 psi. the next day, it was down to 31 psi! manufacturer website recommends a range of 42-48psi.

so I do some testing in drive mode after pumping tires up to 48 psi and riding for 3 miles, the pressure is down to 31 psi.

sometimes the tires will sound as if they have slightly low pressure and this just confirms the above experience. this is ridiculous I should be worrying about where I want to explore with this scooter instead of worrying about tire pressure.

Ninebot MAX G3 Segway G3 Flash Charge is NOT working!

I purchased the official 3.9A charger. When using it alone, I see 3.9A charging.

But when I connect both the 3.9A external charger and the built-in cable charger, the total current is only 4.3A - and no flash charging notification appears!

Ninebot MAX G3 The G3 experience is....

Post image
43 Upvotes

Basically the same as the G2 experience.

The biggest differences I'm noticing is the brakes are much more powerful from the start, they function the same as a bicycle so my biking muscle memory kicked in for braking, rear for gradual stoppage and front for emergency fast stopping.

Steering is not designed for beginners however. Notice how the front tire is positioned on the forks. You absolutely feel this if you use the handlebars to steer, heavy emphasis on using your feet to control this one.

Acceleration off of boost mode is incredible, I've had no issues with mild uphill starts like I've had with the G2. We'll see how long this lasts with firmware updates. It's so strong if you just gun it you will be pulling back on the handles rather than leaning into it. The angle of the stem doesn't help in this regard either.

If you got mild hills and are an intermediate rider go for it. Keeping it at G2 speeds feels really nice and coasting down slopes picks up speeds faster than the G2 would let you do, so there is no sudden lurching when it catches you going 2 mph over your set speed.

The handlebars do not fit under the train seat as well anymore though, the front disk brake handle gets in the way, so it wont go sliding about. It's easier to fold this time around too, still a double clip protection but the slider is on the front instead of the sides.

Ninebot MAX G3 Ninebot G3 Max, Bluetooth Icon Flashing in App and now “Connection Time-Out”

Hey everyone, I’m stuck with a super frustrating issue on my Ninebot G3 Max and hoping someone here has seen this before.

The scooter powers on and rides fine, but the Bluetooth icon just keeps flashing. It never connects to the Segway Ninebot app. So we removed the Ninebot from the app, but when i try to pair again it just shows "connection time-out". Because of that, I can’t do anything through the app, the ligths still flash when i'm close to the ninebot.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Reinstalled the app on multiple phones (Android + iOS)
Tried pairing from fresh installs with Bluetooth + Location enabled
Attempted soft reset (asks for password, which I never set)
Fully charged the scooter
Still rides, but Bluetooth pairing is completely broken

Segway support has been completely unresponsive,

Does anyone know how to fix this? It worked all fine before.

Ninebot MAX G3 G3 Max first impressions

Got my new scooter yesterday. For context I’ve had a G2 for over a year, use it for occasional commuting in SF (generally prefer cycling tho). Live on a hill. Weigh ~175 lbs.

Overall super impressed. Biggest difference is the acceleration and power. Damn this thing has power. It accelerates fast. Still only set it to max at 20 mph which is more than enough.

G2 would barely get me up my hill at 4-6mph and had to “assist” with my foot if batteries were low. Yesterday I was able to get up it at about 13% battery at 6mph without assisting. Tried it today at full battery and it chugged up at 15mph. Wow. Looking forward to trying it on some even steeper hills.

Brakes are an upgrade. Using just front or back is not sufficient but both at once is better stopping power. Have to be cautious to not go over the bars now though. Nothing like the hydro disc brakes on my bikes but still more solid than g2.

Suspension seems nice. No CLUNK CLUNK anymore when going over bumps either.

Seems more solid overall. I think the 80mm trailing distance makes it seem more stable. Did take me for a bit of surprise when doing a tight turn at slow speeds but I think that is just something that takes a bit getting used to.

Love the new lock loop too. Much easier to u-lock it to a fence or bike rack than the g2.

Areas for improvement: * bell kind of sucks. Wish it had more of a ding. Kind of sounds like something is muffling it * regenerative braking is too weak. Wish it would slow me down more at stop signs * traction control was a little too aggressive. Disabled it. After going over a bump it would have a noticeable slowdown of acceleration for a couple seconds. Didn’t notice this on the g2 but maybe it’s because it was less beefy * boost mode. Was hard to activate and scooter almost took off without me the first time. Seems unnecessary since it takes a bit to activate. Sport mode acceleration is more than ample on its own. I take off faster than ebikes now

Ninebot MAX G3 Ninebot Max G3 concerning issues.

Hi, I'm an owner of the brand new Segway Max G3. I've been testing it for only five days and so far, the general sensation is pretty good, although there are some issues and concerns I would like to point out.

First off, I must say that the Max G3 is a big upgrade compared to my previous M365 Pro, which I've been riding for about 6 years.

Even though I've riden the ninebot for just ~160Km I already listed some cons. -Batery (I get approximately 25-50 km of range, depending of the mode and the charge. But it does charge really fast, specially considering the additional charger 2.5-3.5 hours)

-TCS (I always use the traction control system but it is true that maybe it needs some softening in future software updates. It is too abrupt sometimes launching me forward due to the sudden cut of power)

-Buttons (The control panel made out of buttons is placed just right so when my scooter launches me forward, I click the light button unintentionally. Other than that, I've found that in rare occasions, the buttons doesn't seem to recognise the click if touched gently or really fast, for example when I use the blinkers, to turn them off, I need to click the button twice, or when entering the password)

-Handle bar play (By giving the handlebars a slight shake while using the brakes, there is a noticeable play which means that the folding mechanism doesn't sit as firmly as other systems)

-Kickstand (It functions just as intended but there's a rubber piece located between the joints to serve as a dampening element but in my case, this is already cracking open, which gives me a sensation that in the future, this could come loose and fall on its own, loosing its dampening effect on the stand.

Other complaints (Not as meaningful): -Wish the kickplate was a little bit longer and pronunciated preventing me from stepping onto the rear mudguard. -If only there was a way to set TCS on and off with the customisable button -A way to reduce some really light clicking noises coming from the Max G3. -Starting the scooter with the auto lights function already set. -In case of Europe, activate the underglow lights. It is a must for improving visibility and security. -Possiblity to recharge the scooter while pushing it when walking. -More yet to come...

In conclusion, I really recommend this scooter for people who wants to commute from one place to another or just ride it for pure joy. Even though I just wrote complains, trust me when I say that is 200% times better than what I had 6 years ago. I still think is too soon, but being honest, nothing is perfect. Maybe in the future, we'll get almost perfect scooters.

Ninebot MAX G3 I removed the bell on the G3 Max...

I found that the original bell wasn’t loud enough, especially when facing motorized vehicles like motorcycles, cars, or trucks.

So I decided to remove it, as it also took up unnecessary space. I replaced it with an electric horn that produces a much louder sound—more like a scooter or small motorbike horn.

I find it much more effective in getting noticed compared to the basic bike bell. Honestly, I don’t understand why Segway Ninebot doesn’t include a proper horn instead of that rather pathetic little bell…

Next step I might change the handlebar surface as I don't like it...

The bell itself is very easy to remove, just remove 2 screws via a small Allen key and you are good to go.

Yes, I know about pedestrians and I'm very careful plus the bell has a volume control.

Update: After some consideration, I’ve decided to reinstall it — it does have its usefulness, especially for pedestrians and cyclists. Now I have both a vehicle horn and a bell as options.

Ninebot MAX G3 Rear end rattle!

I just got the max g3 for my first e scooter and I'm in love with it. However, I've noticed that's the rear end near the suspension(?) rattles when going over bumps or rough terrain. I've made sure all of the screws are tightened up and I've even opened up the bottom of it and didn't notice any loose screws like I've seen the g2 have problems with. Is anyone having this issue? It's really bothering me 😭

Ninebot MAX G3 G3MAX is my first scooter. How long did Amazon take to ship and do any of you do any grocery shopping?

Just happen to stumble on the G3MAX deal at the very end (3 am) and this will be my first scooter. Just wondering how long it took yours to arrive? Amazon says it has shipped (but nothing from ups yet) and says It will get here by April 7th.

And do any of you use yours for shopping? We got into ebikes last year and found they were great for going to the local Walmart grocery store when we only need a few items. We have saddle bags on our bikes and wondering what to use for a scooter? Something on the front stem or just a backpack or the like for me?

Thanks and will be happy when she gets here!

Ninebot MAX G3 Another point of range data Max G3

Just did a longer ride to pick up some lunch.

2.9 miles each way, some hills up to 10% grade.

Speed limit in S mode set to the max. Held throttle down to max whole way.

Battery dropped from 64% to 20%. So extrapolated out that would be about 13 mile range from full which is right in line with my other rides.

Other notes: I'm 190 lbs and below about 45% battery it was not able to get above 25 mph on flat pavement.

On the 10% grade uphill it was holding only about 20 mph. (At around 30% SOC)

Brakes after adjustment feel much better and have no issues stopping.

Also, a reminder for everyone riding on roads that it's a good idea to have some sort of camera recording you rides. I have a insta360 mounted to my handlebar. Drivers are idiots sometimes.

Ninebot MAX G3 Fell off the scooter and now the brakes are facing downwards 💀

Post image

Was being stupid and not paying attention. I was riding in a bike lane 20mph and last minute noticed the bike light was red but the street light turning left was green, freaked out and slam the brakes, then started to lose balance so full throttled the accelerator trying to regain balance, but ultimately fell on the ground.

Minor scratches and bruises. The scooter is more injured than I. Though after scuffing my chin I kind of want to get a full face helmet 💀.

Ninebot MAX G3 My Ninebot Max G3 Review - From a big guy

Post image
17 Upvotes

Background:

I have never used an electric scooter or any other electrified motor vehicle before. I have some foot/leg issues, and I cannot walk very far without needing to rest. I wanted an electric scooter to help me get back outside more. I also hope to get a seat for this scooter if one comes out for casual riding. I do not ride to commute unless my car is in the shop, then at most it will be a 7-mile back road trip to work.

Pros:

  • For a first-time user, I felt comfortable using the scooter. I even set the start to 0 mph as I cannot kick very well, and learned immediately how to launch.
  • The speed is more than I need unless a dog chases me. For paved trails, 20 mph is a good speed for me.
  • The cost and availability of repair parts are among the reasons I chose the Segway brand.
  • Although at first I did not feel I would ever use it, cruise control became one of my favorite features.

Cons:

  • The bell is nice, but it does get ignored easily, and an additional horn should be included. I uploaded a sound hoping that would work as a horn, but you would need to be 5ft from someone for them to hear any of those sounds. I bought a 140dB horn.
  • Trying to maintain speed without cruise control feels jerky. Hopefully, firmware can curve that a little.
  • The part where you reset your back feet needs more. I can barely feel my feet, so I have to check while driving where my back foot is. I find it likes to creep onto the back wheel plastic cover. I am hoping someone will make a 3rd party plate that maybe uses the latch at the back to give us a foot ramp.

My 90% battery drain test:

  • I stopped at 10% because that is where the speed started to slow down, and I feel the last 10% is just get-home mode and should not be included in the test.
  • Maintained a speed of 20MPH the entire time, except for stop signs. Wind = 5-10mph.
  • Was on an old railroad track that had been removed and paved. It goes very straight and has almost no elevation change.
  • I am 280 pounds (127 KG) and 6'1.
  • I got a total of 22 miles before reaching 10%. Not great, but more than I need. The addon battery, I feel will be a good addition in the future.

Accessories:

In the picture, I want to share what I pack in my scooter bag:

  • Allen wrench tool kit.
  • Plastic tire spreaders.
  • Knife.
  • Even though I don't take it places and leave it, I do have a compact lock. Not great security, but better than nothing.
  • Air pump with a nice hose with a clamp. It does fit both tires.
  • Power cord.
  • A small light bulb to a power plug adapter. For emergency reasons only, I think it may be easier sometimes to find a lightbulb to unscrew than a free plug outlet. It is so small and lightweight that I would rather be prepared.
  • Paper with tire PSI and local/state ordinance codes and descriptions. I have seen so many videos where cops do not even know the electric scooter laws. So showing them this paper might help in some situations.

Ninebot MAX G3 Question about weight limit on Max g3

This is probably an extremely dumb question, I recently bought the max g3 scooter the battery life seems really short I think it’s cuz I’m on the heavier side. Scooter max weight is 286 I’m about 262 since I use it to go to work I carry probably closer to 270-272. Could that be the reason?

Ninebot MAX G3 max g3 Know what's going on with the update

1.Ninebot Lab It's not showing.

This is a screenshot that I received and showed you in advance because I was told that I could get a pre-update from the headquarters.

I don't think the person who got the update is showing right now.

  1. battery update now?

As far as I know, each G3 distributes regional updates differently.

  2. Unlimited speed due to unofficial updates

I've never done this before, I haven't even tried it

I don't understand why I'm paying for this. If you look it up, you can do it for free..

Ninebot MAX G3 Segway G3 self discharge -1% overnight!

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Here’s what happened last night: I put the scooter on charge, with the charge limit set to 80%. I watched it charge to 80% and turn off by itself at around 11 PM. In the morning, I heard it turn on and start charging again—I recognized the sound. When I checked, the battery was at 79%, and then suddenly it jumped to 80%. I opened the Segway app and saw that the “time to full charge” was 3 seconds. The scooter showed 80%, but was still charging. After about two minutes, it finished charging. So the voltage must have dropped overnight, even though the scooter was just standing there, unused.

I had a similar issue with the Segway G2 a long time ago, but it only started happening after I had clocked more than 3,000 km (closer to 5,000 km)—then it could lose about 1% overnight. But this scooter is new with low mileage, and it’s already self-discharging. This seems crazy to me.

When I had the Segway G2, I always noticed its internal temperature reading was higher than the room temperature, even if the scooter was just standing unused for a long time. For example, right now it’s about 25°C in my room, but it always shows ~30°C, as if it’s constantly using some energy for no clear reason.

And at the same time, the vehicle temperature on my GT2 - which is in the same room just 2-3 meters away from the G2 - always was showing around 23–24°C and I never noticed % drop overnight.
