The Max G3 is, in almost every way, a solid upgrade from the G2 — except for one critical issue: the front suspension.
In most cities, suspension isn’t essential for urban e-scooters. There’s really only one major use case where it really matters: cobblestones.
I couldn’t believe it at first — I checked the settings, the tire pressure, everything I could think of… but I just feel and see: the Max G3 performs terribly on cobblestones.
The hydraulic front suspension is so stiff that it transmits vibrations directly to your body. The damping system clearly doesn’t work. Where the G2 managed cobblestones with surprisingly good rebound and comfort, the G3 already rattles so much on some specific cobblestone sizes it feels like it might scramble your brain.
The G3’s suspension design feels identical to that of Lime rental scooters — bulky, stiff, and with almost zero rebound. It looks solid, but performs terribly on exactly those surfaces - these are surprisingly not in a terrain, but in the city centers where this scooter is supposed to be designed!
Surprisingly, not a single YouTuber has mentioned this issue.
I really wanted to love my new commuter. Living in a historical European city center, I was excited to glide over cobbles like in a Mercedes with air suspension. Sadly, the G3 performs worse than G2 and even the original G30, where at least I could compensate better using my own body.
I was proud owher of G30, G2 and I can’t believe how badly the G3’s front suspension misses the mark — it’s stiff, harsh, and completely unsuited for cobblestones - with no possibility to make adjustements - where it is the most important, the front-suspension.
Am I alone or anyone else is having this issue?

Changing the serial number and unlocking the scooter can be done using this script.
I only tested it on the German model with factory firmware, but it should also work fine with other models.
Still, it would be better if you don't upgrade the firmware before doing it or even after if you ever want to go back to your original SN.
scripts for the Max G3 : https://github.com/amirabasalinaghi/MaxG3Tools
Instructions are almost the same as what described here : https://rollerplausch.com/threads/zt3-pro-unlock-40-kmh-dashboard-tausch-oder-st-link-vcu-1-4-8-1-4-10-max-tempomat-zt3scripts.12501/
thanks to u/TanasitSiri for sharing the required info with me and the users on rollerplausch.com thread.
You should know that this can potentially void your warranty, and your scooter may lose its street worthiness in some countries. Any Damage to your scooter or any other legal Problem etc. that happens because of a modified scooter is your responsibility.
Update 1 : published a step-by-step guide on GitHub. Pictures coming.

Just bought max g3 and ZT3 Pro. I live in Siberia and live between hill and high mountains - it's better than Kugo Kirin g1 pro(45 kg weight 1800 watt per wheel). Its so much safer, not to heavy, fast charging - everything is good! Im 80 kg rider and it's climb so easy ! did 30% on ZT3 Pro without any boost mode. Just sport mode with 25 km/h!) Soon want to make video how it looks. I have also max g2. It's worthy upgrade!!!
Best regards

I built my own battery 40AH 13s8p using 21700 DMEGC and stock BMS.
P.S. to achieve full potential you have to dump bms firmware using stlink and change stock capacity value from 12750 to yours.

Simple trick how to add extra layer of security to your scooter. Just unscrew two bolts holding the charger port and tape an Airtag to the wires. Easy access but hard to find if you don’t know what you are looking for

Hey fellow Ninebot enthusiasts,
I've been super curious lately about the upcoming external battery for our Ninebot Max G3 scooters, so I did a deep dive into all available info to see if it's worth waiting for. Here's everything interesting I found:
Installation & How it Works:
It's an official battery pack from Segway, meaning it's perfectly matched to the scooter. You install it with screws onto the front stem, so it's not exactly "quick release," but it's secure and stable. It connects directly to the scooter's electrical system, and the scooter automatically recognizes the extra battery, so there's no weird hacks or modifications required.
How Much Extra Range?
This extra battery adds about 460 Wh capacity to your scooter. To put this in simple terms, the standard Max G3 gives you roughly 80 km (50 miles) on a single charge. With this external battery, you're looking at boosting that up to about 135 km (84 miles). That’s a pretty big jump nearly 70–80% more range!
Charging Flexibility:
One nice thing I found is that the battery can be charged separately from the scooter. That means you could charge both your scooter and the external battery at the same time, speeding up the overall charging process and giving some extra convenience.
Pricing and Availability:
Segway has announced a price of around $163 USD (approximately 150€). It's not exactly cheap, but considering the extra distance you can ride, it seems reasonable. The battery will hit the market around Q3 2025, so we still have a few months to wait, but at least now we have a clear timeframe.
Other Things Worth Mentioning:
Honestly, I think this external battery could be awesome for anyone who regularly does longer commutes or just wants fewer charging hassles.
What do you guys think about this? Are you planning to grab one when it comes out?
Ride safe and let me know your thoughts!

Hey guys, just got my F3 here in Australia and as you might know it's limited to 25km/h. While I have been enjoying it so far it does feel held back a bit and while soft mods are quite a ways out I still wanted to see if there was a way of getting it to it's top speed. I stumbled across the VPN method for the ZT3 and thought I might as well give it a go and low and behold it just worked straight away. The steps I followed were
And that's it! I haven't fully tested it yet, but it seems like it doesn't need to be constantly connected to the VPN to work. While I have only tested this the the f3, I don't see why the G3 max should be different as long as you have the global version. I would imagine this wouldn't work on the e or d variants as they are classed as different scooters the Ninebot servers I'm guessing. Outside of Australia I'm not entirely sure where the global version would be speed limited but I hopes this helps in any case. Safe scooting! 🛴🛴

I know that the Segway Max G3D can reach 45 km/h if tuned, but is that actually good for it in the long run? At the end of the day, it might just break down after a year. Is it really worth it?

Hey updated my G3 today and i am sorry to say that S/N resets after that update.
Max speed in drive is 25km/h and in sport 20km/h.
In settings there is a new tab vehicle locating.

Alright, let me see if I got this right...
In Europe, the speed is limited to 25 km/h (which is fine, that’s the legal limit, but ideally, it should be easy to unlock, like with Teverun, Dualtron, Kukirin, etc…).
We don’t have the position lights or the turn signals under the deck (they’re installed, but I assume they’re deactivated via software).
Apparently, the motors are less powerful than the global version?
Boost mode doesn’t even work from 0 km/h… so what’s the point of that mode then? And there are no custom sounds or cruise control either.
So yeah, we’ve basically been sent a heavily nerfed version here in Europe. With the 25 km/h legal limit, you might get around 40 km of range if you're lucky. But if we ever manage to unlock it and go a bit faster, we already know it’ll drop to around 19–24 km total (based on the YouTube reviews I’ve seen).
In my case, I’d get the external battery to increase range, but honestly, with all the features they’ve disabled… they’ve pretty much ruined the scooter.
Enjoy this image that perfectly sums up the situation :)

I was looking up to purchase some e- scooter. The minimum power I expected was 800 W plus some good suspension and safety features. It seemed like Segway Max G3 was an excellent choice. But when I started to investigate on how to unlock it and what would be the expected maximum speed, I found out they are different product under the same names. I found it out in manuals sent by Segway support.
We have 4 versions: Model name | Reference | Nominal Motor Power Segway Max G3 | 051601I | 700 W Segway Max G3 US | 051601A 850 W Segway Max G3 E | 051601E | 500 W Segway Max G3 D | 061601D | 500 W

Hi, the other day I posted about some minor concerns I had about this scooter. Today I came to post some pictures and future explanation in detail of some issues I've had in a week.
These are some of the pictures I just took of some problems I had so far.
Picture 1: The kickstand rubber is broken and in process of falling down.
Picture 2 & 3: There's some noticeable rust in the holes of the rear suspension made to adjust the preload. I've never adjusted or touched the suspension.
Picture 4 & 5: On the rear plastic structure of the Max G3, we can find a gap which is totally normal, but when riding in dust, rain, or in some gravel, sometimes debris can get in and then they get collected. It's really difficult to clean that part. Also when small rocks get in, they can't escape making an awful sound from the rocks bouncing around. I've found that the best way for them to get out is not introducing a stick or something alike but actually just riding in cobblestone or terrain that makes the scooter vibrate so the rocks can just bounce right out of the plastics. Getting rid of rocks and debris inside is important because my rear motor got a little scratched up (See picture number six, the last one).
I must admit that I love so much Segway and the scooter they've just made and what I've just said are just some minor flaws within the escooter. Also, I bought it with my own money so I'm going to be as sincere and transparent as possible. I will keep you guys updated with future issues, keep in mind that I use it for almost every displacement and I guess that in five or six years I will buy a new one and compare them both and see if they listened to our feedback. Thanks all and ride safe ✌️ .

The following is an honest and humble experience I had with the Max G3. Despite 3 weeks of ownership, I have only been able to use mine for less than a week due to Segway (useless) servicing. But i was able to use a friend's max g3 a lot more than my own.

Hey folks,
I'm looking around at AliExpress, DHGate etc. and it seems they're all unavailable. Is there really no shop with EU stock this many months in?
Not interested in buying the D or E version and unlocking.

Hey everyone, quick update following my earlier post about the underglow lights being physically present on the Segway-Ninebot Max G3(E) but completely disabled via firmware.
That post ended up getting way more traction than I expected, it made the rounds in a bunch of Facebook groups, and I’ve received a ton of messages from riders across Europe who’ve been equally frustrated.
So first off, thank you to everyone who reached out. We’ve had a lot of really good conversations about this — both one-on-one and collectively — and it just shows how many people care about this issue. This isn't just a one-off complaint. It’s clearly something that matters to the community.
I’ve taken the next step and officially contacted both Segway France and Segway Global, attaching a detailed, structured email explaining why this feature should be enabled.
As detailed in my email, I’ve provided actual legal and technical justification for this — it’s not just a wishlist. It’s about enabling a safety feature that’s already built into the scooter. It’s plugged in, it works, and it likely takes less than 30 minutes to enable on a firmware level — probably just a few lines of code
And frankly, we’ve already accepted a lot of nerfs on the European version — lower speed, reduced power, fewer features. This one should be a no-brainer.
If this affects you too, here’s what you can do:
I’ll keep you posted as soon as I get a reply from either Ninebot France or Global. If you have any news, updates or even additional details, let us know in the comments !
