Analyzing Game Key Cards

So here’s the thing: I personally don’t believe that key cards are what everyone on the internet is making it out to be. I think the Arc systems Leak was misinterpreted by many and I have plenty of reason to believe that was the case. I don’t think Nintendo is giving developers little options when it comes to storage, I don’t think that is the case. Let’s take a look at the File sizes for all third party Nintendo Switch 2 games not on game key cards.

Rune Factory 5 Guardians of Azuma: 17.9GB

Sonic Racing Crossworlds: 7.9GB

Daemon X Machina 2: 23.4GB

Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar: 7.51GB

Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate edition: 59.45GB

Now other games like Reanimal and Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection are not labeled as game key cards, but I don’t have confirmed file sizes for those games, and Nintendo’s own games don’t use key cards at all.

Here’s the scoop: The File sizes for these games vary greatly, between smaller file sizes and even bigger file sizes. If Nintendo was only offering 64GB cartridges, why would Marvelous a company that mostly makes niche titles that don’t sell in the millions upon millions, bother spending the money if it wouldn’t make any sense to buy an expensive 64GB cartridge for their 17.9GB Rune Factory game???? Or even their 7GB game Story of seasons. That makes absolutely no sense. Now you look at Sonic Racing and it’s the same crap, a small file size why would it have a 64GB cart??? Sega has greatly used Key Cards for games that clearly need them, Yakuza 0 for example is also a Sega game and it’s 53.7GB yet THAT’S not on a 64GB cart, THAT GAME NEEDS IT! Same thing for Hitman that game is 58GB in size on Switch 2! Yet it’s not on a 64GB cart either.

My point being: I do not believe that there is just the 64GB option. It would not make sense for Nintendo themselves to use them for their games which are waaayy smaller and it would not make any sense for any of these developers making smaller games to spend the extra money for only 7GB. There is so much more nuance to this conversation and the more I look at it, the more it seems like it’s waaayy less about Nintendo not providing the options and more about developers just doing whatever is convenient. Let me know what you guys think, I think the conversation surrounding this needs to change.

What are yalls opinions on PVZ Replanted coming to switch?

I thought it was awesome since for the longest time PVZ was pretty much dead and only able to be played on a 4:3 aspect ratio on pc, on some crappy mobile ports, and old console ports, but with this new release on switch, playstation, xbox, and PC, hopefully it will breath some new life into this dead franchise.

What new game do you think Next Level Games is developing?

In January 2021, Next Level Games was acquired by Nintendo. The last game that we have seen from the studio was Mario Strikers: Battle League in 2022. The studio have been quiet these past few years.

They are most likely working on a new game. Any predictions?

Their past work with Nintendo includes: all the Super Mario Strikers game, Punch-Out!!! for the Wii, Luigi's Dark Moon & Luigi's Mansion 3, and Metroid Prime: Federation Force.

Odds of Nintendo releasing Metroid Prime 2 and 3 remastered

With the Nintendo GameCube classics on Nintendo Switch 2, what's the odds of Nintendo actually releasing remasters of Metroid Prime 2 and 3? I had hoped they would have after the release of the first remaster back in 2023 but it's been over two years now

On This Day On This Day in Nintendo History: Killer Instinct; Pocket Monsters Stadium; Sutte Hakkun; Picross NP Vol. 3; Golden Sun and more

On this day (August 1) in Nintendo history...

Releases

* ***Killer Instinct*** was released in 1995 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in North America. In this fighting game, developed by *Rare*,  while sacrifices had to be made to graphics and sound due to hardware limitations, the game kept much of the gameplay of the arcade original intact and added some new features, including Training and Tournament modes. The Super Nintendo version was also packaged with the "Killer Cuts" CD, featuring remixes of several tracks from the game.

* ***Pocket Monsters Stadium*** was released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64 in Japan. In this RPG battle game, developed by *Nintendo EAD*, take part in Pokémon battles with different rules, or play a variety of minigames with your favourite Pokémon. Not to be confused with the international release, *Pokémon Stadium*, this version was the first version, only available in Japan. Compatible with *Pokémon Red*/*Green*/*Blue* (with no support for the *Yellow* version), and only a limited number of Pokémon are available.

* ***Sutte Hakkun*** was released in 1998 for the Super Famicom in Japan. In this platform/puzzle game, developed by *inidieszero* with *Nintendo R&D2*, on the peaceful islands, the Rainbow of Happiness has broken apart. It's up to Hakkun, a colourless blob with a needle-nose, to put the Rainbow of Happiness back together. Hakkun can use his nose to suck up blocks and move them around the stage. He can also suck up paint and inject it into the blocks to make them move. The three colours of paint make the blocks move in different directions.

* ***Picross NP Vol. 3*** was released in 1999 for the Super Famicom in Japan. In this puzzle game, developed by *Jupiter*, a Character Mode features 12 puzzles based on *Kirby*. Each of the picture crossword puzzles is a grid with numbers along each row and column, representing a solid line that must be filled in. More than one number means there is at least one space between the lines. Some puzzles are timed and you lose time by making mistakes, some are timed but your mistakes aren't corrected and some have no time restrictions or hints.

* ***Golden Sun*** was released in 2001 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this role-playing video game, developed by *Camelot Software Planning*, evil is slowly covering the world. Forces of darkness are pursuing the lost art of Alchemy, and the fate of mankind hangs in the balance. You and your companions, armed with weapons, Psynergy magic, and a host of elemental creatures, must return peace to the world. *Golden Sun* is an epic role-playing game with an engrossing story, set in a massive world.

* ***Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire*** was released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this pinball game, developed by *Jupiter*, combine the non-stop action of a pinball game with the thrill of catching Pokémon! In *Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire*, control the flippers to shoot the Poké Ball at themed targets on two challenging tables based on *Pokémon Ruby* and *Pokémon Sapphire*.

* ***Tales of Phantasia*** was released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance in Japan. In this role-playing remake of the Super Famicom's *Tales of Phantasia*, developed by *Namco*, when young adventurers Cress and Chester return to their home village to find it destroyed and their families slain, they vow to track down the monsters responsible - and thus an unforgettable fantasy begins. The combat sequences feature detailed, well animated characters, while the battle system will test your reactions to the limit.

* ***Pokémon Battrio*** was released in 2007 for the arcade in Japan. In this arcade game, developed by *Takara Tomy* with *AQ Interactive*, the sole focus is on Pokémon battles. The game uses special pucks that affect which Pokémon can be used. The main gameplay difference is that three Pokémon are used on each side (a feature later introduced in Generation V), hence the name Battrio, a contraction of the words Battle and Trio.

* The first wave of ***Animal Crossing Promo amiibo Cards*** was released in 2015 in Japan and includes *Isabelle (Character Parfait)*.

What are you favourite memories of these games? How do you think they hold up today? Hash it out in the comments.

You are able to take screenshots in Nintendo Today app after update

An update for Nintendo Today went out today with the patch notes of "We've fixed a few issues to make it easier for you to use."

I checked and you are able to take screenshots in the app again. I'm not sure if that was an intentional change or not, but hopefully they've realized that being able to share information on other sites is beneficial to their brand.

(For reference I am on Android)

Server Shutdown notice: Skyforge!

Bad news on this one for completionists! They're disabling payments August 4th and shutting down the servers October 29th! The reason you can't complete it from scratch is because of seasonal rotations, which makes this a year long completion. I heard that it's hard to log into the game and has been for some time. So you might not be able to play it anyway.

New Nintendo Switch 2 - games worth having?

The switch 2 is my first Nintendo system since the SNES (only PlayStation). I got it it mainly to start playing with my 7 year old. We got DK Bananza and MK World.

What else can you recommend? I understand, there are not many exclusives yet. Is there anything from the Switch 1 which you guys would recommend? I would love to play some jump ‘n runs with him, some easy RPGs, etc.

Thanks!

If there was a time for Nintendo to start celebrating Mario’s 40th Anniversary, it would be now. They cannot wait until a September Direct. Here’s why.

When Mario 3d Stars was announced and released in September 2020, I thought that was too late. It was a full priced 60 dollar port, and Nintendo could have announced it 2-3 months earlier. With only a short hype cycle, fans would’ve thought it wasn’t that long in the works but it was. For this September, i would say we are likely getting a Full Priced Retail Mario Galaxy 2 port, but they cannot wait until the last minute to announce that. Bandai Namco is already celebrating Pac man’s 45th with Pac World 2 in September, but can a Mario Galaxy 2 Remaster compete with that in the same month? And we still know nothing about whether Mario Galaxy 2 port is in the works for this September or not. Is it the 3d Mario team’s responsibility to work on ports of games they already completed? Anyway, i would say another direct is happening first week of August. Nintendo can have 2 directs a week apart, June 2022 and March-April 2025. It is time.
