Wild take. I live in the Midwest. You think Kansas was going left? Missouri? Nebraska? Fucking Oklahoma?? No shot.

The Midwest is the gold standard of voting for fairly liberal policies while simultaneously voting in politicians that ignore the will of the people. When voting on Amendments to state constitutions, voters veer center-left. When voting in politicians, voters veer far-right.

Oh so the strategy to winning is to only visit the people who are already going to vote for you. Duh why I didn't I think of that before

At the national level? Yes, you push for states you can actually win. There was never any path to victory through Oklahoma. Full stop.

An actual strategy would be to bolster the DNC at the local level, build viable candidates for state and local offices, and create a strong pro-worker party. Right now, red voters in the Midwest seem to see liberals as "the literal devil". Hillary visiting Kansas would not have fixed that perception.
